  • Renton Municipal Airport in Washington, USA is also home to the Renton Boeing Facility - the factories building the Boeing 737MAX jet's and the P-8 Poseidon but also the same factories that created the wonderful Boeing 757 aircraft and many others.
It has now been recreated in dizzying levels of detail inside Microsoft Flight Simulator, by one of the very best scenery developers - Drzewiecki Design... and it even has a little treat from ‪@pmdgsimulationsofficial51‬ inside too!
In this video, we'll explore what this unique scenery has to offer, as I share my thoughts and opinion throughout. We'll explore the airport in day and night times, and visit the numerous features on offer here at this new payware airport scenery for MSFS... and throughout, I'll try to answer the question of "Could this be the best Flight Simulator scenery ever created?" - what do you think?
You can purchase the scenery for yourself available now via ‪@OrbxOfficial‬ for ‪@MicrosoftFlightSimulator‬ right here: orbxdirect.com...
What do you think? I'd love to know your thoughts in the comments below! If you enjoyed the video, please give it a Like and become a Subscriber if you're new to the channel too! Thanks for watching!

    For those that are confused...
Renton is the production facility for 737s. They depart from there on their B1 flights (Boeing flight #1). They arrive at Boeing Field, where subsequent B flights are executed (if needed). From there, they go thru the customer events, including C1 (customer flight #1), and eventually delivery. No deliveries take place at Renton.
Everett (Paine Field) is the production and delivery center for twin aisle airplanes, 747/767/777 and the last remaining EVT produced 787s. This includes B1s and C1s. Same story for Boeing South Carolina... production and delivery center for 787s produced there.

At this point if it's coming from FlyTampa or Drzewiecki Design you can be sure that it's elite quality. I've been holding off on the Chicago Midway scenery waiting for the 737 to release. Can't wait to fly some Southwest ops finally. MSFS is about to start leaving the competition in the rearview mirror.

@9:24. This is the parallax technique we've all been hearing about; used to create the illusion of 3D interiors from outside a building using flat textures or to even just give subtle depth to a surface, such as grout lines between bricks, which catch the light and cast shadows differently as a light source shining on it moves. It is highly likely you've seen this in other third party airports already but may not have realized it. An example of doing this for room interiors is Parallax OSL (Open Shading Language) that uses just a single polygon to show an entire room. Thanks for the video! Drzewiecki Design keeps pushing the limits! I am slowly acquiring all their stuff.

@@BritishAvgeek Yes, I was astonished when I found out about it just a few months ago. MSFS 2020 frame rates on my GTX 970 are the same at for my 32-bit FSX engine despite the fact that the former looks way better. I think its graphical techniques like these (amongst other things to be sure) that allow for MSFS to look so good and yet still have playable FPS. Drzewiecki already had me curious with what they were up to with their Midway scenery and this shows where they were going.

If it goes onto the MSFS Marketplace then it might be yes but currently I don't think it is

i know i’m in the minority here but i feel incredibly uneasy with anything to do with the max. looks like fantastic scenery though.

A lot likely share your thoughts too - it's a bad aircraft on the part of Boeing for obvious tragic reasons, but as you say - the scenery is wonderful and it is the perfect Delivery Centre for the upcoming PMDG 737-700 due to be released soon 🙂

The eye candy is nice, but will the devs ever fix the horrid performance in the sim so it is enjoyable?

horrid performance? On my system it works better than P3d And I have a medium system I75800, 32Gb ram and a 3060Ti. But it even worked with my GTX 970 some time ago.
Agreed, no 60-80 fps, but a decent 30 with everything on high( and that's enough for me)

odd, I cap my FPS at 35 to prevent spikes and dips so it's quite stable but I've found this scenery exceptionally good for performance on my system - Ryzen 5 3600X and 2070Super with 32Gb RAM

I agree looking at this scenery it looks great, regarding the detailing, personality the graphic designers have gone a little overboard in showing the inside of terminals and the 73Max assembly line. We use, practice and enjoy flight sim software and if this gives us a more realistic feel then even better, not just scenery, weather, clouds, lighting, but also aircraft flight models being accurate. Why would we want to walk, or drone fly inside buildings? As a private pilot and sim builder, these finer details are a waste of effort. Saying that I would possibly buy it.

I agree it's not something you'd explore over and over again multiple times, but it shows how incredible Microsoft Flight Simulator can be/is in the right hands

For you these finer details may be wasted but I personally enjoy flying to a virtual location, parking my plane then looking around the area and exploring what is there. That may include terminal interiors if they are well represented, control towers certainly, hangers around airfield and in this case the factory interiors at Boeing too.
