I don't understand how Matt and Ryan caught more flack than the person actually accused of SA. This whole situation spiraled so out of control and people who freaked out at SM still feel like they're right. Ridiculous.

    • @oldoutlet6946
      @oldoutlet6946 ปีที่แล้ว +579

It's a big reason why I believe the SA allegation was blown way out of proportion. If I was actually abused, I wouldn't feel the need to go off on a tangent about the assaulter's friends 90% of the time to gain sympathy points.
That and both Lex and Don having moments of being lovey dovey months after the supposed incident.

@@blackdragon3748 Yeah, but early on in the drama you'd think SuperMega were the ones being accused of SA instead. Looking at their twitters, the hate was raining on Don, too, but it was a lot more volatile on Ryan and Matt's accounts.

Hate to break it to Leighton, but two months’ severance after being fired is more than most employees get. Some people don’t get a dime if they’re fired; others get two to three weeks’ pay at most. The entitlement of these people is amazing.

Hassan Piker told him the problem with his content is, “he presents his opinions as facts.”

When you’re a content creator however, it’s a different story. You can’t make a heavily opinionated hit piece on someone just because you want to stick up for your friends.
You either keep an objective perspective by just recounting the accusations without inserting any opinions, or you wait until there’s enough information posted from both sides to make a subjective hairpiece.

The worst part is, the damage is done. There’s never a mass retraction that tells everyone that they’re innocent. Everyone who believed the lie will believe it indefinitely. It takes more than a video like this to clear a person’s name.
When I hear people defend an accusation with “why would they lie?” Because people lie. Some people lie simply because they help themselves. I have known many liars. Most do it to protect their own self image. A coping mechanism to divert responsibility of ones own actions. I knew one girl that just wanted the drama. Like she fed on it.
People lie. It’s not a gender thing, it’s a human thing. Question everything until given enough evidence.
Edit: Using Daniel as a means of smearing Matt and Ryan is inexcusable. Even if it were true. That should always be off limits. I believe Matt and Ryan on this. Shane Gillis career is better than ever after being tossed aside by SNL, although to be fair he would rather be doing skits. Joe Rogan Experience is still the largest podcast in the world despite the media's constant attacks. That being said there is a list of huge no nos you avoid and from my understanding Supermega had done anything major. The only thing I can see hurting them is Ryan's involvement with fans and cheating on his then girlfriend. Assuming none of them were underage, that's something that can be forgiven but remembered. That being said, the fans are overwhelmingly supporting them. This will correct the beliefs of some of those who believed in the lies and make new fans.
Matt and Ryan just have to decide if they can forgive themselves and wish to continue. They're some good dudes. Ryan is pretty torn up with his actions, and I can tell he expresses deep regret. I really hope he can make peace with himself and give Supermega a second chance. Both Matt and Ryan will see the world not only forgives them but see they did their best in a messy situation. consider this even more unfortunate reality; there are some people who are NEVER vindicated after being smeared and their credibility destroyed. they have no online presence (or cant) and those who could not just bring that person a sense of closure but also present a story with its missing pieces finally in place. this is why i kind of detest most youtubers. unless its beneficial to them somehow ultimately covering a story of injustice or calling out bad actors is of zero real concern.
perhaps its because im considerably older but i dont jump to any final conclusion on a matter until i have been able to fully evaluate it from as many angles as reasonably possible. i also react to witnessing something potentially criminal by treating it like a crime. same reason if i were to witness someone get mugged in front of me i wouldnt be tweeting about it id be helping the person report it and offering to be a witness.
this isnt to discredit or dismiss the impact of the situation but from what was described i struggle to think of any state law where it would be considered assault. this doesnt mean it wasnt wrong and caused harm but assault is misleading esp when taking into account what would fall under that definition typically.
theres also nothing weird about someone wanting to know the potential severity or extent of what happened when disclosing that kind of thing. this doesnt mean details but some frame of reference is needed to understand what the appropriate response would be. say for instance the incident involved being drugged/unconscious by the person. that is an important factor that absolutely changes the response.
i think those who have had more valid reasons for being given a voice are exactly the ones who wind up never being heard and not for a lack of trying.

I told my boss that they assaulted me and they immediately fired them without severance and put a black mark to their name for future employers. I was so glad because had they asked any questions they wouldn’t have done that. I think that’s exactly how a business should be run, the truth should only matter if it affects me.

He's asking to understand why she's coming to him about it and then figure out how to handle it. It's childish to expect people to just *believe* you. When you're an adult it's less about the details and more about you showing that you're rationalizing it all in a mature way.
This is all just doing your due diligence. Be patient and understanding but don't blindly take people at their word. You want to figure out what HAPPENED not just say accept someone's story. It is very gross and this doesn’t apply to lex at all, but you can still be homeless and have money. Being homeless, simply classifies as not having your own home. There are obviously very different levels of being unhomed and while the most commonly found unhomed person is the kind of person that you would see on the side of the road that is not the only classification. If you’re living on your friends couch, you’re homeless if you’re a child and you live with your grandparents instead of your mother in the school system, you were legally considered homeless, there are many different examples I could go on and on. So, while in this instance, it truly is entitled of lex to act the way she has,as someone who genuinely was homeless, let’s not accidentally put others down who are genuinely going through that struggle in the process.

I mean, what a callous lack of respect for human life and perhaps the saddest, most tragic thing someone can do. For god sake, Ryan had to find his best friends dead body, and then see his memory be desecrated not only in comment sections of old videos he had with him (which he says he viewed as memorials of their friendship, which he now cannot even look at due to bs drama comments), but to be used to level a false character assassination on SuperMega by people who clearly do not care about suicide or Daniel, i mean TRULY care. She purposely early on kept repeating "I didn't want my messages recorded, I didn't want chats for there to be screenshots" and she paints this as a 'privacy' thing. An 'anti-doxxing' thing. Her being nervous, and scared. But in fact its a ploy to make clearing the record as hard as possible, while being able to lie straight through her teeth better.
The less details you give while lying, the easier it is to pass the lie, as there is less to pick apart.

Leighton has been trying to capitalize on anything possible. It honestly has nothing to do with ideology and all to do with what you can abuse to get what you want

Bro why is no one talking about the part where Leighton described the "trauma" of seeing Matt and Ryan compare assholes? That shit was so funny. Ah yes 2 consenting adults exposed themselves in the comfort of their own building to compare one another's buttholes. Really terrible crimes, too bad Leighton couldn't have just closed his eyes. He was subjected to saw level TORTURE.

The entire “homeless” dialogue is really frustrating.. They have a free place to live for months, they are offered thousands of dollars for housing… that’s the opposite of homeless.. and then she has the audacity to complain about the massive hotel room with a hot tub that felt “trafficy”.. reality check most of us don’t stay in massive hotel rooms with hot tubs or sporadically buy brand new Jeeps…

On top of him weaponizing Daniel's suicide (which I don't even have to explain why that's horrible), him outing Ryan's partner as non cisgender when that person wasn't out publicly is vile, and as a gay man himself, you'd think that would have crossed his mind (not to mention that that person actually does go by he/him pronouns as they're nonbinary, so Ryan didn't actually misgender them in the first place).

It's not their audience in fact I'm a super mega butthead and those were randoms from other places. SM had above 1mil and they are now 952k the patreon is still open and meg heads like myself check in once in awhile for updates. People can follow a creator and not be apart of their active audience or even like them. True super mega fans were being talked over ignored or written off by the loud influx of shitty people, people who just didn't care to get real facts yet, and SUPER MEGA HAS A HATE GROUP! Yes! There's a legit super mega hate group spanning way before this. So imo the fans never turned against them WE waited WE know the personality of these boys and how they approach personal important subjects as shown before.
I'm a woman and I have to admit when it comes to female creators especially ones with egirl aesthetics and sexual shit on their platform their fans are zombies ready to attack for their princess even if she's the problem! Super mega had 2 or 3 fanbases attacking them NickIsUglyBabyBarfGreen, that ugly bowl haircut girl with bad eyeliner, and that one white dude no one remembers. That's 3 fanbases talking over megheads and attacking us too. People in the reddit tried insanely hard to speak up but the down votes were insane. It was too much for a rather dorky introverted fanbase. I was not about to get threatened by egirl crazed lunatics I trust my boys.
Matt and Ryan have every right to step away they were attacking a man who committed suicide a sadistic predatory thing to bring up- no doubt money is tight as hell from the allegations because we know how media works- and maybe legal shit is going down. They aren't outspoken until it gets leaked about legal issues!

I used to watch NickIsNotGreen semi-frequently.
I am probably fairly far from the subgroup or demographic of people he refers to as “redditors/debate bros”, as I don’t necessarily always agree with some nuances that maybe Tom or etc express
BUT Nick has become incredibly insufferable to listen to, even when he’s in the right.
The way he frames his arguments (not necessarily saying this about things pertaining to this topic) is far from sufficient and he does 0 justice for the people like me he claims to support or align with.
Same with Ethan Is Online too frankly. His commentary videos in general are rife* with formal or informal fallacies, and it is exhausting.
I know this rant is probably pointless but this feeling has been sitting with me for months now, (before the Super Mega stuff) and I had to word vomit.

@@Mikoeditsfr I love Dev, but exactly.
No one is perfect and Im sure Ive acted similarly (maybe condescending or ignorant on a topic) in private/around friends but I would try to filter myself more if in a published video.
I know it’s easy to criticize from the outside looking in sometimes, so I don’t want to be “that asshole”. However, for example, Dev did not do the 5-10mins of research it would take to understand the burning man situation when she made a video about it/the events that occured. I can’t say it’s inherently indicative of anything persay, but there is a pattern Ive noticed and it is kind of disappointing.
Her videos with Nick can come off as goofy, and sometimes they’re fun! But then there’s some videos that absolutely are just hot air.
Im sure IF Nick sees this comment (not likely), I hope he’ll have the decency to take this criticism for what it is, and not project his own beliefs about who or what I possibly “subscribe” to as a person. But then again, Im a faceless nobody. It’s easy to disassociate from that and dismiss it as simply x y or z.

The way he talks about all levels of “conflict” like it’s got the same weight and importance def rubs me the wrong way. Like when he called Ashley’s husband cheating on her “drama” (Titktok Gel Lady involved in crazy drama)
I understand that he’s doing this new online drama format to subsidize his real passion music, but since he doesn’t put any research into his videos it would def be better for him to stick to low stakes tiktok drama like the venmo girl or Redit AITA stories
