Yeah, this whole thing is bad. Their daughter needed them (injured out of skating) and they just forced another dream on her. That shit never breeds a clear thinking adult. It's sad someone had to die for it.
I’ve never been more grateful my parents took the “find your own path” attitude raising us. We’ve all done very well for ourselves. I’m academic but my older sister was artistic, my brother had a logical brain. Not one of us would have thrived in a cookie cutter parenting path.
I was raised by a single mom and she was really strict with me but I'm still the black sheep in the family and was traumatized by many things that happened to kids around me and the fact that my mom used to call me stupid
My parents (well, father fcked off while I was like 12 so more like my mom) had the same approach and I ended up spending 10 years as a heroin addict LMAO point being there's really no universal way of how to raise your kids. All depends on the kid and how your family be.
@Rabea Halim She needs to be in prison and needs to be punished for what she did. Still I think it's important to understand where it all started. Because if we can learn from this people, if we can see where it starts to go wrong we can work in society to avoid this scenarios. Lots of crimes could be prevented if someone found and stop the abuse or other things. So what she did is unforgivable but doesn't erase guilt from her surroundings and her past that lead her to this point. Man or woman, criminals should be study and their childhoods and environments where they grow up should be examined so we can do better next time so there's no dead people.
"Yet is getting no tissues for her nonexistent tears." "So he leaves her to play with her hair for 3 minutes before he comes back and charges her with first degree murder." 💀 the narration
This detective is really good. He knows not to talk too much and allows extended silence to make her uncomfortable to the point where she feels the need to talk and reveal more info. The best thing you can do, especially if you are guilty, is to STFU.
@@griff7749 I'd think nothing is as important as what you do before/during the crime. Not doing it would be number one, lol. Ask the family, they wouldn't want the crime committed to begin with. You really think they don't want to get away with it? smdh. Why then don't the criminals just stay and wait for the police to show up? If you're truly guilty, the best thing you could do for yourself is to ask for an attorney. You're thinking like a person with morals, not a psychopath, sociopath, corrupt person, etc. We wouldn't ever be in this situation, so to us, confessing so readily seems like the logical next step, not to them. Yes, for the victims, the best thing they could do would be to confess, but that doesn't happen very often. Even when the evidence is overwhelming, rarely does the guilty party confess during their first interrogation. It sure would be great though, lol.
Yes, but what I wouldn't give to keep him from saying "okay?" 9,000 times. It's better not to say that because it's a question, rather than a statement. I knew better than to do that when raising my kids.

The only thing that I appreciated from the Netflix documentary is that they had the actual detectives participate. Other than that, it was nothing special.
Damn she should have made up a way less complicated story. “I was in my room, I heard nothing.” This girl is writing a whole dang murder mystery novel.
"I was in my room with the door closed when I heard my parents screaming downstairs. I opened the door to hear better and I heard a man running up the stairs. I quickly shut the door and hid while I heard him go into my father's room down the hall. The person ran back downstairs, I heard my mom squealing and two gun shots and then a third. I hid until I heard nothing more and then, assuming they left, I picked up my phone and called the police." She could've had a realistic and easy alibi, instead of accurately describing the assailants and this elaborate order of events. She could've even pretended she didn't know what they were doing in her dad's room... not like it mattered anyway, they found the idiot's DNA evidence at the scene so they would've ratted her out as soon as they got brought in regardless.
@@aztrix364 Oh, yeah? Well, I'm on to you. You think you can get away with it, but you made one fatal mistake: You typed that confession. Which means...you have *FINGERS.* And the only one who could pull the trigger on a gun is someone with fingers! America, we got 'em.

@dushas I think you bring up some interesting points tho, afterall her parents just fricking died! the “I don’t knows” around and prior to 1:17:20 are just haunting to me, as she knows full what occurred, and the plan wasn’t to kill her (obviously), as it’s another sad example of ‘young girl thinks she can sway the officer by being a young girl”. this detective did an excellent job with her, consoling her just enough to get the information needed to ramp up the questioning. a very, very good example of a seasoned law enforcement officer using an interrogation technique pretty flawlessly. such a sad story all around, a family destroyed, someone lost their life, someone’s life forever changed by grief/injury/loss, and a college aged girl going to prison for making the worst decision she could’ve possibly made.

As a person who have been a witness many times. I can say that I second guessed what details happened and the pressure during interrogating doesn't help the memory. The only time I did remember in detail. Was when I was the victim and I had PTSD and kept the trauma a secret for several years.

I don’t understand how she thought she could get away with lying about a murder, when she got caught lying about grades, going to university, seeing her boyfriend, her phones, and probably lots of other things we haven’t heard about?
yeah, our justice system often has false positives and also tends to read trauma victims as liars when they're not (esp. rape victims). These vids are interesting to watch but the dishonest and manipulative tactics are only heroic when the person happens to be guilty, which we don't really know until later on in the process.
Legit.. and probably put a spin on it to make her parents the villians and her the victim if they had to use ai it means the family didn’t approve the docu or them covering it. They should sue
Oddly enough, she’s probably more content that way. People like this who cannot structure their own lives find comfort in having other people do it for them. She’s quite lazy, so having the penal system dictate her time to her might actually be what makes her feel more successful internally. She’s precisely the type of individual that when released, will repeat offend, just to be able to go back to her comfort zone.
@dorothydreams oftornadoes why is that? it sounds to me like she was living it up with her druggie boyfriend and not following any of her parents rules. prison will not be kind to her.
John Tavers Oh, she’s fine. Mentally not so much. She’s been locked up for a while now. (4/5Yrs) No other unusual problems compared to those who fall under NO child molesters, or rapers.
Money. This was about money. She didn’t want to run off because she wanted the financial support and assets from her family. Why else would she forge a fake life? My father was a crackhead pervert and I’ve been on my own since I was 15. I’d have given anything to have parents that pushed for me to be the best. Yes, I’m sure it’s difficult and has it’s hardships, but they loved her and wanted the best for her. She was a selfish bitch stuck on some loser and a life she thought she wanted. Until shit got real and she was about to be cut off from mommy and daddy’s money. Typical rich brat.

I think they like it; they probably have to restrain themselves from some smirk every time they hear something incriminating/tells. I mean, their goal is to catch people - and according to this channel - they want to catch them in these conversations for notoriety.
I would imagine that a detective's patience, determination, and stamina comes from experience, training, and from their own personality. The best ones are masters at controlling not only the suspect but themselves. The interrogation of the Canadian Colonel, Russel Williams, is a master-class in itself.
I know a retired detective who used to work the Crimes Against Children department. Said the toughest part of his job : Sitting across the table from someone he knew was guilty, but having to give them due process.

She did not ask even once how it is relevant to the attack? Not once questioned why they were wasting time talking about this instead of trying to find the killers of her mum? How did she not realise how the focus is shifting on her? She was just so happy to have someone listen to her about her “difficulties”
She grew up in a very strict household with very high expectations and according to the info provided, a very stereotypical Asian household, which holds its fathers and father figures in high regard. I'm sure referring to any grown man as "gentleman" is a subconscious decision for her, considering her upbringing. Not to mention she is under stress from trying to maintain her lies, so when she isn't forcing the small idiocyncracies like terminology or body language, her true idiocyncracies come out.
@Teh Modest Mouse It's an American/Canadian thing. You want to describe someone's race but you can't say they are black, so you call them gentlemen or fellas. Pay attention to the way white people talk and you'll notice that we never describe a group of white people as gentlemen.

its terrifying to see how quickly she fabricated the second story in minutes after the detective confronted her. Yes it was an obvious lie but the way she was willing to carry on lying. pathological lying is just something else its crazy.

ikr. and it seems like she didn't have a plan b, she just made up a whole different story at that moment and that's terrifying. i mean she lied to her parents for years, it's not hard for her to make up another lies right
@@ForcedHandleName I mean, I am not defending her. I obviously think that murdering your own parents is bad. However, you can't call her a bad person for lying. Ontario detectives are just built different. They’re so well trained and all seem to have knowledge of behavioural sciences. Col. Russel Williams and Michael Rafferty were also from Ontario and their confessions were just as brilliantly finessed. Truly amazing to witness.
I've noticed that too. Gotta be the worst Province anywhere to commit a crime haha. They make some of the American detectives I've seen look like total amateurs, best example being the interrogation of that Stephen kid who killed his neighbor (also on this channel).
She probably would have left when they told her too but she was a dropout so getting a job was hard so she needed the money, whether that was from her parents willingly or through inheritance
I didn't expect to hear her father's screams. That was horrifying. It's easy to watch these murder documentaries usually but that was hard to hear and haunting.
What amazes me, is Jennifer's reaction to those cries on the 999 call. It must have surprised (and concerned) her that he was still alive (goddammit), but she has the presence enough to play victim on the call, and quite convincingly so. Bear in mind, what she's really thinking is probably "finish him, quick" through all that apparent concern. She's so dangerous that girl.

@@shawn576 what? As a European looking from outside in. I disagree. In fact I would expect white males to be called "Gentlemen". But thats just my perspective.
Jennifer: "you said you were on my side"
Yeah, you're not the only one lying here
😆
Yasss
@Jazz Feline Bruh who talks like that
@Jazz Feline I think you'd be surprised
@@Kxvito i have friends that talk like this. We're asian, and they think that western people say "lol" in real life. It's cringeworthy ngl
“So these gentlemen, absolute darlings, came to rob our house and murder my parents”
Absolute darlings, I can't 😂😂
_"We had a nice warm cup of cocoa near my parent's corpses."_
Lol..wow
omg this is sending me KSKDLMS
Yeah her vocab was like she was narrating a story
JCS has to be THE most tragic story of TH-cam history. What an absolute travesty, a true injustice to this channel.
Imagine creating an entire TH-cam genre, have multiple copycats who exist to this day but JIM CANT SWIM gets effectively shut down.
Shame, shame on you TH-cam.
I don’t think she realizes that everything she says can be held against her
@Los Fromla That’s true but if they’re interrogating you anything you say could be used later and they can eventually put you in solitary confinement
@Los Fromla thats why she had staight -Cs
It doesn't take a lot to be considered a gentleman these days.
😂😂😂
That's your takeaway from this?
As long as you leave one parent living
Haha
Omg lol 😅💀

The fact that she even said family comes first yet she made up this whole entire thing was insane
When the detective is telling a Canadian not to apologize, you know things are getting serious.

I mean, you're not wrong!
Hilarious!!!! I’m dying!
Who else is studying these to prepare for how they will react when they are interrogated for not returning that Blockbuster VHS back in 2005
Me , you and 52 million other people
Hahahahaha
I deny the allegations
@j Smith VHS, not 4hs (if you are being serious) - a video cassette format used until DVDs came.
j Smith no VHS tapes were meant to be played on TVs before DVDs became popular
its terrifying to see how quickly she fabricated the second story in minutes after the detective confronted her. Yes it was an obvious lie but the way she was willing to carry on lying. pathological lying is just something else its crazy.
Considering she's lied to her parents for years about her high school graduation and her college attendance? I believe that lying comes very natural to her now, so that's all she relies on.
ikr. and it seems like she didn't have a plan b, she just made up a whole different story at that moment and that's terrifying. i mean she lied to her parents for years, it's not hard for her to make up another lies right
ugh
@@ForcedHandleName I mean, I am not defending her. I obviously think that murdering your own parents is bad. However, you can't call her a bad person for lying. If you have never lived under ultra strict parents, you wouldn't understand how terrible it feels. Lying is bad, but sometimes it is the only solution when your parents are so strict.
I get that's it's wrong to lie, but why is it 'terrifying'? She's been lying for years.
Ontario detectives are just built different. They’re so well trained and all seem to have knowledge of behavioural sciences. Col. Russel Williams and Michael Rafferty were also from Ontario and their confessions were just as brilliantly finessed. Truly amazing to witness.
They run circles around some of the US detectives I've seen (also, I am from the US)
I believe Canadian police receive more training than American police
I've noticed that too. Gotta be the worst Province anywhere to commit a crime haha. They make some of the American detectives I've seen look like total amateurs, best example being the interrogation of that Stephen kid who killed his neighbor (also on this channel).
@@Private_glob Stae-ven! You hurt that girl, dinja Stae-ven? I love the accent!
She wanted to stay with her boyfriend and keep the benefits of being with the parents, but she killed them.........bruh
She probably would have left when they told her too but she was a dropout so getting a job was hard so she needed the money, whether that was from her parents willingly or through inheritance
Shes probably in their will and figured she'd take them out and take their money for herself.
i think she was more concerned with being financially cut off

I also apologise when overwhelmed or make a mistake too tbh. I know she’s lying but saying sorry doesn’t always mean lie.

I didn't expect to hear her father's screams. That was horrifying. It's easy to watch these murder documentaries usually but that was hard to hear and haunting.
Thanks for the heads-up. Sorry to hear it's eating at you
could you tell me the timestamp?

What amazes me, is Jennifer's reaction to those cries on the 999 call. It must have surprised (and concerned) her that he was still alive (goddammit), but she has the presence enough to play victim on the call, and quite convincingly so. Bear in mind, what she's really thinking is probably "finish him, quick" through all that apparent concern. She's so dangerous that girl.
I skipped past it. I couldn't take it. That's a human, screaming for his life and his family.
Netflix should be ashamed of themselves
Why
@@chime1535because of the documentary about this case. I haven't seen it myself but they say it sucks compared to this one.
@@chime1535 because this video has 42 million views and the JCS channel is very well known, especially by true crime fans. The fact that Netflix made a documentary about this and it doesn't even compare to a TH-cam video is sad. I mean it's not even close.
