    You'll probably end up putting a support up front for when you end up pulling it so the bottom front corners don't get pulled together . You definitely build good things and sturdy to.

    Good evening Lumnah family from a cooler Minnesota. Good evening viewers. I'm glad you're building a nice structure for your breeding boar Yukon. He'll do better separated from his breeding gilt (female pig that hasn't had piglets yet) being protected from predators. I like those Simpson clips. Wow, Brutus is huge! Those braces are nice and beefy! Good idea not to cut that vertical member on the pig panel. I like how you cut all the edges clean too. I like that top rail piece. It was funny seeing Brutus laying in there. So you made it fancier on the other side? It reminds me of Justin Rhodes' pig port he made. I like that it is mobile too. Too bad the main roads are still messed up from the hurricane Beryl. I like the working gates at both ends. Thanks for this video Lumnah family!

  • @Conn653
    @Conn653 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    When you tow 'the gate/shed' around, I'ld recommend installing a temporary spreader at the bottom on the towing end. this will take stress off the main supports when the tow chain is attached. After "The Shed" is relocated, undue a couple of bolts and remove the temporary spreader.

    • @StoneKathryn
      @StoneKathryn 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a good idea. Justin Rhodes has a similar structure and they use a pipe spreader to hook to it to pull it around. Thanks for that suggestion! I hope you had a great weekend!

  • @markpashia7067
    @markpashia7067 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Al, you might want a "stretcher bar" for moving it if you don't put a spreader at the bottom for a trip hazard. Just something to keep the width correct as you move it. Thinking a 2x4 pinned into place with bolts to the front part of the skids just when towing it to keep them from pigeon toeing inward when you pull.

    Great project but I have one concern. The bracing at the top is really sturdy but my concern is the bottom side to side bracing. Since there is none I would be worried that when moving it around the skids could possibly cause a separation and lead to failure of the structure. I would suggest a 2x4 across the bottom of the gates to keep the side to side structure in place.

    Put some metal black pipe across each end under the gates, to keep the side walls from going out if you move it and. Plus it will keep anything from going under them or digging under.

    Pretty nice pig palace! Though I would add a threaded steel rod with washers n nuts to connect the bottom runners. Placing them just below the gates. This would give you really good structural strength for towing, and be less bulky than a wood crosspiece.

    • @4Classie
      @4Classie 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hey Al everything lookin good! A suggestion! For the last culvert when you put the culvert in, why don’t you put those big rocks that you took out of your pasture, hold it down and then then put your material on top that might save a lot of erosion of material! 😊

  • @garypyle8456
    @garypyle8456 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    U might want to think about a lower chain to hold ur gate closed,because a full grown pig is very strong,they can push on a farm gate at the bottom to get out. Nice job

  • @frankbarajas
    @frankbarajas 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I like the mobile enclosure, while the gates kind of hold the ends together they aren't designed for those kind of forces. I think you may want to add something under or very near the gates to keep the vertical members from splaying apart while being towed and possibly spread apart by uneven ground. Perhaps a 3/4" or 1" metal rod or all thread rod bolted through to each side. This would keep the sides parallel and help keep the roof from buckling or having a column break from the uneven torsion and stress while being pulled causing a shear failure in the structure. It would only take one rut or exposed rock to catch an end to put a significant twist to damage and weaken the integrity of the enclosure.

    Couldn't help but think that if you are going to put this pig pen and a pig in it in the woods with half hight sides and area above the gates would be great for bears to climb over or wolves to jump over to get your pigs...just saying. Please consider more wire on sides and above gates. Won't hurt you to stoop down to get through gated area to feed or cuddle your pigs. Cheers for your videos.❤
