When I think about all the kids who need to carry an inhaler or other medication while on a field trip, or ball game I realize what a useful project this is. Thank you.
My daughter made some bags like this. She used a pattern and was so frustrated. I think we can do this easy. Even I will try it. Thanks for a great tutorial. I’ll definitely check out some more of your videos.😊
I cannot thank you enough for this! I am a new sewist, brand new. I have always wanted to learn and so after being medically retired I thought this is it! So my hubby made me a sewing room for Valentine’s Day! This is my first bag and I am so proud of it. My 2 year old granddaughter is going to adore it!!
Made an appliqué for front flap, added little pleated pockets on the interior lining to make my grandson a little travel bag for his hot wheels ! Thanks so much Debbie ! You saved me from boredom and depression during the pandemic and taught me how to sew again after many years ! Cheers from Montreal !
Made this bag for my neighbours nine years daughter as a birthday present and bought a personalised name badge to put on front flap it looks amazing Thankyou 👍
Made this bag tonight! I added pockets to the lining, rectangle rings, and a rectangle slider to the strap to make it adjustable. I also added a lace ruffle to the outer edge of flap. It turned out so cute!!😍 can’t wait to make more. My only downside is - I disliked how the fusible interfacing made the bag feel. I am going to make this again, but with cotton batting and quilted instead. Looking forward to giving it another go!
After being a knitter and crocheter for years I have discovered sewing which I love, I have a long way to go but I love your tutorials as I find them not only inspiring but easy to understand and after a few attempts I usually get there lol and you’re a dog lover.
Hi I have made my bag and it’s all thanks to you I have never made anything before and I am 68 Thank You Debbie for giving me good tutorial that I under stood 😊
Thank you for this excellent tutorial. I knocked off two bags this afternoon, and all went smoothly thanks to your clear instructions and great photography.
Oh my, this is so pretty. I can see how it could be adjusted for size...and pockets added...and any little embellishments that make me smile. And I just LOVE your sewing machine pad - it reminds me of a mug rug I made a couple of years ago.
I made this as my first sewing project (if you don't count the pillow case I made in 1999). Turned out better than I expected given my lack of experience. And it's so cute! Thanks for a really clear and easy to follow tutorial :)
6/15/22: I went a little overboard making this bag today, but I had so much fun. I added a sparkly iron-on unicorn on the flap, as well as a couple of 1/2" D rings on the straps and rivets. On the inside I added a small zipper pocket and all in all, it came out absolutely adorable! Thank you, Debbie, for the inspiration and your guidance in yet another wonderful project that was so easy to follow. I will definitely make more of these in the future.
I am a beginner at sewing got few of your books on quilting saw this bag will make it Thank you for your help I find I have more confidence follow what you do😀
I made 2 in about an hour , instead of gift bags...bags they will use!! super easy and SUPER CUTE!! perfect for beginner..happy sewing..xoxox Vancouver
I've been needing a tablet bag for when I go outside to draw, maybe I'll give this a try :) im probably going to use loops at the sides so I can tie on a strap to make it adjustable, and I can also use them to clip my water bottle to the outside with a carabiner :)
Hi dearest Debbie, thank you so much for this tutorial 👏 I’ve made three of these little bags for my granddaughter , she starts school next year and I’m sure she will eventually be invited to birthday parties so I’m going to make a few extra for those occasions. So easy to follow your instructions and they turned out just lovely. THANK YOU. Merry Christmas to you and all your family and staff. Hope you all have an amazing 2022. Best wishes from me (Helen) in Australia . 🎄🌺👏
I made this bag today for a friends grand-daughter. It turned out fabulous - its a pity I cant show you a photo here of it. Thank you for the tutorial!!
I've made similar bags for my kids, Pokémon for one, Minecraft for the other, and they love them 😊 I recently made a matching Minecraft coin pouch and mask too!
Thank you Debbie for the lovely little bag. I have made 3 now and am contemplating making a slightly larger one for myself. Do you have any videos/patterns for similar bag but with pockets.?
Hello there Debbie! Love this little bag! Are there particular measurements used when making this messenger bag? Really want to get going! Thank you Debbie
love this one like to make it for me :) but like to have the zip at the top with a flap how would I do this thank you , or is there one you made that is like this one and I miss it. Love from across the pond.
Hi. Lovely pattern but I’m using directional fabric and I don’t know which way your measurements run. You say finished is 7.5” x 8”. Is it 7.5” wide or high? Thank you.
The measurements show. Under video give two outer fabrics 2 inner fabrics both same size and then another inner fabric just a little smaller is this the flap?
Debbiei I have made two of these and my daughter wants one but to use as a cross over body so was going to use webbing and where you sew the straps sew a tab each side with a d ring the tab end with the d ring would face downward on side where we normally sew the strap then I could use webbing with a slide buckle and ring and hook so she has the option of altering the strap would this work?
Someone has asked me to make one of these for their granddaughter and grandson do you think it would look right for a boy this shape or do you have any ideas. Thank you
In the text just below the video, it says that Debbie made it for her 4yr old granddaughter. Personally, I think the style is great for a wider age range because you can adapt the fabric to their favourite characters, or, if they're a bit older, use fabrics that are a little more grown up and perhaps making it a little bigger.
The flap measurement is 7.5”x6.5” - cut two of that size with the liner fabric (although for mine, I cut one of each color because I wanted the liner fabric to only be seen on the inside)
When I think about all the kids who need to carry an inhaler or other medication while on a field trip, or ball game I realize what a useful project this is. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing. My great grand-daughter has been sewing with me. I think she’ll love this.

Hi Debbie
What fabric do you use?
I need the measurements please
In the description
I want to make this bag for my grand daughter..but you have not given sizes of pieces
PL give size of each piece
Sizes are there except for the flap.
What is the measurement on the flap there's no measurement on the flap just body lining and strap flap measurement please
