I don't get why they don't try to find a solution to this. F1 is as much a visual experience as it is auditory. It's like taking away half of the experience..

Anaconda Boom for starters the revs don't go up to 21,000 anymore, only like 15.. So if they up the limit they may sound like that still.

      Do you mean rpm?
Yes, that's right. But the 2017 cars are faster on the corners and that makes the lap time faster as well. Because they have more grip and down force that came from the wider cars with wider tyres and wider front spoiler.

In Adelaide in 1986, when the first engine fired up on the Friday morning, you could hear it all over the city. Every single person stopped dead in their tracks and turned to listen. Stunning sound.

Although not the same as the turbo monsters of 1986, I had a similar first F1 experience at Indianapolis in 2001. We were staying many miles from the Speedway and it was just awe inspiring to hear those V10's from that crazy distance. Actually walking beside the front straight barrier in the stands when we finally arrived at the track and hearing the cars go by was incredible. That excitement is (sadly) gone forever.

Not F1 but I remember staying several miles away from Silverstone in 2018 and I could hear the Porsche 911 GTE from the house, so cool. Shame nowadays tracks and councils have given in to whining NIMBYs who moved near a race track and most race cars/events are a shadow of what went before, at least in the UK.

Been there again in 2015 and even though the racing hasn't changed the sound does make a huge difference. New regulations are bumping up the redline of the V6 turbos by 3k. Current PUs are limited to 15k, but tend to keep to around 12/13 for fuel management, so you can imagine they'll now be limited to 18k, but will likely run at 16k as cars will be given more fuel, and higher fuel flow limits.

Comparing 2013 to 2014, racing became slower and less about being the pinnacle of track performance but about appeasing green freaks and acting as a PR stunt. It was gutted for a movement.
