Finally Happened! NASA's New Spaceplane Is Launching After Constant Delays...
The race to the ISS is gearing up for its most exhilarating chapter yet, with the entry of numerous new contenders. Among these, Dream Chaser is garnering significant attention as it prepares to make its debut in the near future. While delays have pushed back timelines, they serve as indicators of the groundbreaking transformations this space plane could bring to the aerospace industry. How are preparations for the Dream Chaser advancing? What impact will this mission have on the space industry? Can it outpace the formidable SpaceX Dragon, the reigning giant? Stay tuned as we delve into these questions on today's episode of Great SpaceX.
Finally Happened! NASA's New Spaceplane Is Launching After Constant Delays...
It's been over a decade since the iconic Space Shuttle bid farewell to its missions in space. Dream Chaser, boasting a similar space plane design, is poised to step into the shoes of the Space Shuttle for future space endeavors. Despite facing numerous delays over the years, the prospect of witnessing Dream Chaser take flight is now closer than ever. Sierra Space unveiled its first complete prototype, named Tenacity, towards the end of 2023. Following this unveiling, the prototype was transported to NASA's test center in Ohio to undergo environmental testing.
Finally Happened! NASA's New Spaceplane Is Launching After Constant Delays... Initially scheduled for launch in April as part of the second flight of ULA's Vulcan Centaur, the launch has since been pushed back to the fourth quarter of this year.
Despite the delays in launch schedules, testing endeavors for Dream Chaser continue to advance smoothly. Earlier this year, Dream Chaser, accompanied by the Shooting Star module, underwent vibration testing on the world's largest vibration table. This critical test, one of the largest conducted on this space plane, evaluates its resilience against extreme vibrations during encapsulation within the Vulcan Centaur's fairing and throughout the launch process. On March 7, Sierra Space reported the successful completion of this test, along with other pivotal assessments such as the separation shock test and wing deployment evaluation.

AGAIN IT REPEATEDLY HAPPENED! Your title for this video is; "Finally Happened! NASA's New Spaceplane Is Launching After Constant Delays" The new spaceplane is NOT LAUNCHING as YOU NOTE stating: " Initially scheduled for launch in April as part of the second flight of ULA's Vulcan Centaur, the launch has since been pushed back to the fourth quarter of this year."
"Finally Happened! Finally Happened! Finally Happened!" ... GONZO FAKE NEWS HEADLINES = CRAPPY JOURNALISM 👎
My money is on Dreamchaser, looks the most viable addition to Crew Dragon , Orion and Starliner are problematic in many ways so far along in their development, over budget and lots of issues
Hopefully they get it figured out, competition is good if the crafts are actually competitive in reality
Yeah, this space plane will help the space race more competitive
Orion is built for a totally different mission than Starliner. And Orion is not even close to the issues that Starliner has had.
Agreed, I think the Dreamchaser has a future…
If memory serves, the original design of the dream chaser was for carrying humans to and from space hence the shape of the craft…
50 plus years after Apollo….still struggling just to get into LOW orbit!!
We’ll get to Mars by 2400…when Buck Roger’s take us there.
The only way that humans will be able to colonize the Moon, Mars and explore via manned craft our solar system is for all nations or most of the advanced nations on Earth to join forces. A United Earth as Star Trek's creator Gene Roddenberry envisioned. But our human pettiness and greed will destroy our home planet well before any permanent self sufficient Moon base or Mars base will exist.
Until Dreamchaser has a proven ability to get to space on a reusable first stage, SpaceX will continue to be the low-cost leader.
Yeah, I think SpaceX will still be leader even if Dream Chaser can prove that
The Space Shuttle was also supposed to offer rapid and low cost turn round due to its aircraft like landing. Hopefully, Sierra Space have a better handle on that and the heat shield tiles function better and require less refurb. At least Dreamchaser is on top of the launch vehicle, not next to major components during launch.
Yeah. We hope that this can be a game changer
Good morning ! Living here Alabama I have watched the news in reference to the Dream Chaser and the way I understand it Dream Chaser has been licensed to land at the Huntsville International Airport. If this is the case would Marshall Space Flight Center be the organization to handle the preparation for its return to Florida.?
Thanks
I'm excited about the Dream Chaser! : Go Tenecity!
Let's wait for its debut
It's amazing what we can build these days.
♥️♥️♥️
I hope all of these are successful as the introduce competition in the industry so Elon Musk can’t hold the world at ransom to his whims.
Well said
X37b docked in to the I.S.S. not so long ago ,it's on you tube for the world to see.. i have the video from I.S.S. and then you know how they shift camera's, thanks for sharing 🤔
Our tax dollars are never better spent than with these space projects. Space is our future and Americans should be proud of our leading role in this field. It sure beats the crap out of the untold dollars and human lives spent on war. Although a necessary evil, I hope some day it will be obsolete.
You may never best wasted. This is a prototype of a prototype. The original was called X-37, which actually flies. Educate yourself. NASA is nothing but a colossal laundering machine for the US treasury department.
Getting two BE-4 engines to actually work doesn’t mean it is reliable yet. This is the first time I heard about a vibration problem.
It's not NASA's space plane it's "Sierra Space's" space plane!
👍👍👍
Dream Chaser is cargo van compared to the space shuttles semitruck.
Great comparison
They have a few different models. One is a manned model. It would be cool to see what the Sea Eye Aye flies. They always have things first.
I hope it's successful. Then again by the time it flys it may be fusion powered...
Realy I like it they are powerful and intelligent I apreciate
Good Morning, Kev. I want to see Dreamchaser succeed. I want to Sierra Space succeed. It's a beautiful plane. So I would launch it on a Falcon Heavy. You're more confident in ULA than I am. I don't look at Dreamchaser as being in competition with SpaceX. It's another great tool to have in your arsenal. I don't think we should should look at it like competition. Both will have the same missions. But both will have different missions. That's a good thing. Great Episode Kev.
Thanks Kevin. Dream Chaser can be another good spacecraft for our space race
@@colonbina1 You are absolutely Right. Have a Great Day.
Falcon-9 could lift Dreamchaser, it does not require Falcon Heavy.
Much better than Starliner (updated Apollo), could they help Starship with tiles or much bigger tiles are harder to work with?
I think SpaceX can make a better on Starship
Excellent stuff bro, not anything taxpayer penny to Boeing
Hablas Ingles por favor?
Just because their results
This still needs to be launched by the "Falcon 9" (it's still less expensive and dependable)!
Yeah, I think so
If Bill Nelson has his hands in the mix then it will fail
😂😂😂
Good for an opinion, would make an awesome escape capsule. Starship will be the work horse tho.
👍👍👍
Beautiful 🚀
I thought we wanna get away from low orbit and go farther
♥️♥️♥️
Looks like a flash tennis shoe!
This is the unmanned cargo version. Meanwhile, the next launch attempt for Starliner is May 17.
Yeah
I have been excited about Dreamchaser and its' concept from the start. After watching Neil Armstrong step on the moon (I was 12) and enduring the broken promises of the Shuttle Program (Affordable?! HAH!!), I read comic books and SF novels and dreamed about a genuine space plane. 'Bout damn time!!
Could you find a astronaut to compare Dragon to Soyuz and maybe Shuttle.
The Dream Chaser reminds me on the ESA Hermes spaceplane.
Do you think Dream Chaser will have a fate like that?
Hi great 👍 video of the space plane let’s hope everything goes well for them David ☝️❤️🇬🇧👌🚀👍
Thanks for your great comment, David
I really do not understand why these non-launch companies keep partnering with companies that cannot/do not reuse their rockets. Dream Chaser is a new enough vehicle that it could easily have been designed for launch on the Falcon rockets. I hope at some point they are able to convert to someone's reusable platform.
This is a good combination
Realy I like it
Yeah
Great Video ! The Sierra Space Dream Chaser will do the Cargo Test Flight and six contracted Cargo flights to the ISS on the ULA Vulcan Centaur rocket ! After these seven flights the Cargo Dream Chaser will be FREE to UP-Grade to the Crew Dream Chaser on a Crew rated ULA Vulcan Centaur ! With the ISS life ending soon in seven years (2031 ?) or so... New station modules will be launched into LEO to keep the dream alive ! With the RSA leaving the ISS there is no reason for a big station in a high inclination orbit. A new low cost to reach low inclination LEO CSS heading East from the KSC with a Fuel Depot nearby ! This LEO CSS with a Fuel Depot nearby can be reached and supported by the ESA launch pad ! This LEO CSS will support missions to and from the moon and support the South Pole Lunar Outpost/Base (Clementine Base) with a LS Fuel Depot nearby ! The Tech to return to the moon to stay, can take US and the world to Mars and beyond ! tjl
Do you believe this will work better than Space Shuttle?
❤spaceplane is a big game changer in passenger transportation.up to mach 15 top speed 🎉❤makes travel hour short time.
Do you have birds in your house? The recording has really loud chirping in the background. It's maddening.😅
😂😂😂
dream chaser: I would not say landing, it is more gliding or a specific way falling down.
Controlled crash?
If it comes to land, it is landing.
😂😂😂
Ground breaking ?? dynasoar o the 60 s 70 s ????
Let’s stick with space capsules or rockets that belly flop pretending to be a space plane
Super
🚀🚀🚀
SO WHEN IS THE LAUNCH DATE FOR DREAM CHASER ? ? ? I HAVE BEEN WAITING A LONG TIME FOR THIS LAUNCH AND I AM GLAD THAT IT IS ACTUALLY GOING TO HAPPEN ! ! !
It may be not earlier than the fourth quarter of this year
It looks like a big shoe with wings!! LOL😂
And you're right! Its design lineage is traced back to, among others, the Mig-105 Spiral, which was nicknamed "Lapot," a bast shoe, because of its shape.
That's cool . A fledgling entity. Make it happen. It has to happen.
Never last.
Such a nice piece of engineering. This makes me believe that Starship isn't the right vassal for the Moon or Mars. We don't have the technology yet for general purpose vehicles. Instead, Musk should have opted for different approaches on a step by step basis. Earth orbit, then the Moon, then Mars orbit/moon, then Mars surface.
♥️♥️♥️
What is it that you think SpaceX is doing?
Can you compare the Dream Chaser to the X-37B in a video?
Thanks for your great suggestion. We'll take note this ☺️
Other than being spaceplanes they have few similarities. X-37B is also much smaller than DC. There isn't a lot of information on it, but Boeing proposed a crewed X-37C variant in 2011 that would be similar in purpose and capability to DC.
Just wait till starship gets going, dreamchaser will be largely small fares at best, no race to be had there.
The more the better, isn’t it?
Starship is amazing once it gets going good I can see one of these shuttles attached to the outside of starship as it sails off through space
@@colonbina1 depends on the situation and the intended goal really.
I don't understand. the old space shuttle worked. Why did it take so long to build an updated version?
Because it just looks like a spacious it really has very few similarities.. and because of the delays manufacturing and development
And the old space station wasn’t working as good as you may think. It had two explosions that ended in disaster. It had multiple valve and seal issues.
Because it did not made by Spac
The old shuttle worked well over 100 missions. A craft truly in need of justifiable development but is something the older aerospace industry is loath to do.
The ISS still has a place to play for the next few years - don’t discount it yet.
What about after that?
@@colonbina1 hOPEFULLY IMO, COMMERCIAL sPACE sTATIONS WILL BE A REAlity. like Axiom and so forth.
Dreamchaser is NOT a space transport system.
It is just a LEO shuttle with no other abilities.
But I guess it has it's niche as a life boat akin to Sojus capsules for private space stations.
Good morning
Have a nice day, bro
Goodnight
How is the wing folding hardware protected from the intense heat of reentry?!?
very carefully
By design.
Much smaller than old shuttle, so it's limited on payload?
How is this better than the space shuttle?
Only one lauch thus far of the Vulcan Centaur! WTF!!!. What happened to all the satellite launches?
why do you show a fake picture of bill nelson at Edwards with his hand on the vehicle.
NASA already has 2 vehicles like this already and has for 30 years or whenever the shuttle program started. One was supposed to be permanently docked at the ISS and the others were to catch and repair satellites and remove space junk.
Thanks for your great contribution 👍
*had a vehicle. They no longer exist, nor should they.
Ever since the rocket scientists’ admin assistants took over NASA, NASA has been unable to bring any project to reality, except for Muslim Outreach and DEI!
I don't understand the point of putting a plane inside a rocket to deliver people/supplies to the space station. All that just so it can have a controlled re-entry. Doesn't sound worth sacrificing cargo space and people space.
It will be cost efficient to be able to reuse the same vehicle 15+ times. Also, it allows nasa to bring down fragile cargo.
This design does have its benefits.
♥️♥️♥️
Doesn’t that space plane look just like John’s capsule from FARSCAPE !!
I think they used the design that Dream Chaser was created from. Very Cool!
😯😯😯
Way too small to carry any useful cargo.
With the shooting star module the payload will be more than falcon or Soyuz
nothing finally happened - sad how some people believe that deception attracts valued views
1. This seems like a modern rehash of an USAF program that was canceled in the late 50's. 2. Elecrogravitics, AKA gravity control was solved, mastered in 1954. Why are we still fooling around with liquid and solid propellant rocketry?
Ten minutes of facial noise pollution…and I heard nothing.
Ula launch ❤❤❤
Over a decade? It has been over 30 years.
Let's get real and invest enough money to produce some serious craft ... Like one that also includes air-breathing jet engines for return flight and landing. Real "space plane."
Too little ... too late !! A signature of NASA bunglings
They did not learn from the loss of two shuttles. Good luck in surviving. Shalom
The ship is enclosed in a housing with folding wings. In terms of thermal protection, Star Ship has the same challenge
Not only were both shuttle accidents totally preventable, but after reading a book on the Apollo program, both the Apollo One fire and Apollo 13 incidents were also totally preventable.
Is anything in it made by Boeing?
The Vulcan rocket it's supposed to go up on is made by ULA - a joint venture of Lockheed and Boeing. No word if any parts have fallen off.
Insane
Uber Eats for astronauts at best.
Tugaskan DHL untuk mengirimnya ke ruang angkasa 😂😂
Nasa shocked
Hollywood movie?
😂😂😂
daffy duck logic
I want them to also renovate the old space shuttle for launch with starship.
Great idea
That would never happen, nor should it happen. The Space Shuttle was inordinately complex and trouble-prone, not to mention massively expensive. That program, with all things considered, a failure. It never came close to delivering on its promise.
@stratolestele7611
The original Space Shuttle was a great concept. It was only intended to be a workhorse and cargo delivery system.
There was also a mini shuttle similar to this Dream Chaser. Intended to be launched from a Boeing aircraft at 50k feet. This was a crew transporter that could be launched multiple times a week.
Also Envisioned was a magnetic rail launch system that could launch large canisters of bulk material for 10 cents a pound and capable of a launch every 30 minutes.
AND THEN,
The politicians got involved. The Shuttle became a very complex do everything in one system. Grossly over priced and fraught with problems.
But dozens of politicians were able to steer many different tasks to their voting districts.
This has been the downfall of NASA. All political all the time.
The shuttle will never fly again because they demolished all of the supporting infrastructure with a vengeance!
A space panda...

Yes,who else but SpaceX ‼️‼️‼️
It can fit on most rockets with the same payload capacity and hull radius
SpaceX has the contract will ride on a supper heavy
Falcon 9 can launch dremchasher
Nasa humiliated
Now Dream Chaser is a very cool development. The weakest link--- ULA. Or who knows, Mr. Musk has been known to knock everybody's socks off every now and then. Wouldn't it be something if SpacEx and Sierra decided to collaborate and send up Dream Chaser on a Falcon Booster? "Will never happen. Because Dragon competes with Dream Chaser you fool!" So scream my critics. Uh,huh.
I love that cooperation
This thing has already done a flew flights in space, wtf r u talking about?
Nobody cares!!!
It's not spaceplane. It's 🇲🇽 mexico plane
So when is this supposed to Launch? Oh that right never. Just like Star clipper
My bad. Starliner.
Within a few months?
Since this is mostly a government taxpayer funded project where is the incentive to stay on budget and the consequences when they do not?
Well that's nice but the only problem is it's not a shuttle! The shuttle was something else all together it had lots of redundancy. And could lift a huge payload into space. For the worst decision of any president in the world w bush really made a big mistake most of the shuttles had half the life still in them. None of these systems right now could go to Hubble or the James Webb Telescope to fix it if they had you or any other satellites. There was a bunch of us out there for years kept asking NASA to leave the external tank in space because you had a habitat or at least a gas station there if you would have taken all the external tanks and got them together you can use a bunch of them is habitats. But it didn't happen they just burned up in the Indian Ocean if NASA really wants to show something they should build Pathfinder the next best shuttle.
The shuttle program was a disaster -- it killed 14 astronauts. Bush made the right decision to do away with them.
The shuttles retirement was PLANNED...bush couldn't run a lemonaide stand.
Not only were both shuttle accidents totally preventable as some parts of NASA and the contractors knew for years and decades that the SRB field joints were NOT well designed and the External Tank insulating foam striking the shuttle from the port forward bipod ramp. NASA should have stopped flying and fix these two items. The extremely complex shuttle orbiter was not the cause of the accidents. After recently reading a book about the history of the Apollo program, both the Apollo One fire and Apollo 13 incidents were also totally preventable. As Dr. Christopher Kraft was quoted in an oral interview, he stated that "the shuttle accidents were NOT the fallacy of the machine, but the fallacy of the human brain" in that the very well known shuttle (and Apollo) issues which caused the accidents were NOT fixed until after the accidents! Human decisions and lack of money from the US Congress prevented many upgrades and improvements to the space shuttle system due to lack of money. NASA shuttle budget was about $2.2 Billion out of just $18 Billion of NASA's entire budget while Congress spent $1.5 Trillion of tax payer money to get the "bugs" out of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter which like its predecessor the F-22 Raptor, were and are barely used in combat situations. A huge waste of money. If the US gets in a war with Russia and China , these planes, as sophisticated as they are, will not win the war. The US hasn't won a war since WWII.
To whoever the republican is at google/you tube who is constantly censoring me....get a life;find another hobby.
There are no republicans working at google or TH-cam. If there were, we might have freedom of speech!! @bigcity2085

That is just a scaled up X-37, which the Air Force has been flying out for well over 10 years, which originally was the prototype for the dream chaser.
