Another secret that I don't think a lot of people know is that if you go on a track that has a thwomp and go backward, Lakitu can actually be squished by the thwomp if he's under it!

I remember hearing something about a mushroom in the files of Super Mario Galaxy that causes the game to break completely if you try launching it without the file

Another fun trick: In 2 player you can play as the same character by each selecting and deselecting the same character, then going back to “solo or team race” section, then it places you both on your previously selected character. Me and my brother did this when we were younger because we both wanted to play as toad.

I knew most of these, but somehow I didn't know about the Ghost Valley mechanic! That is a good way to prevent busted shortcuts but also punishes the player in the process. Classic Nintendo!

Hidden blocks out of bounds aren't just there because the deaths forgot about them. Sometimes it's just so the asset is loaded in at all times. The more you know!
@TWD98: The item box under the track are just the unloaded one, they just forgot to put does invisible, because notice when someone in front of you grab a ?block a new one pop-up from below the ground.

I've always wondered why barrel rolling only works on N64 BC. I've thought it must be the height of the wall because I've noticed it's shorter than most other walls.
Troy didn’t mention that it requires interacting with specific wall collision that is placed along drivable ledges. On rbc and some bc3 walls this works since those ledges are so close to the road below and the collision extends about halfway down the block.
I didn’t even know that you cannot even go on the gv2 blocks and if you do, the game will shoot you back and forward until you are off the edge.

No, they're most likely The Master Cubes, in the Mario kart 64 engine, at least, it was required that they're always be an item cube (or other object) that keeps track of everything. I don't know if wii had a similar object permanency issue though. However, I know that Nintendo would not affect them there if they were not completely necessary.
fun fact: item boxes contain critical code for tracks to work, so these item boxes were probably a left over from where they wanted to test the track but didnt have any item boxes and placed them out of bounds for the game to not crash

I think youre mistaking it for the easier version of the same trick. The easier version is a 10 or something frame window and you dont lose any speed, but you will still lose your item if you had one.

Cool Video! the back flip id really like to figure out. The mushroom gorge off road glitch also works if you shroom over the first boost panel on the bridge and don't touch the mushroom. but that glitch restricts top speed to only the max drift speed so wheelies don't improve speed during the glitch . but there's a lot of off road and boost panels to make up for it!

For #6, instead of using the Bullet Bill in the cave when it'll end early, use it after going off the ramp before the set of three mushrooms (activate it just barely before you hit the first red mushroom). As long as it doesn't end early, it'll barely reach the extension area in the latter half of the cave and still trigger the off-road glitch. Truly an insane strat!
This is it. You always want to try and use the bill early enough to get the benefit of the extension area. Also offroad glitch is only worth on lap 3 because you drive at 87km/h constantly which loses a lot of time at the start of the lap since theres no offroad to benefit from.
@@garethreynolds9061 Depends on when you're predicting a shock will happen, if it's mid lap 2 and one hasn't gone off yet you might be better off doing the strat then because you'll either be fully immune or pseudo-immune for almost an entire lap.
Sometimes objects in the game world need an anchor point, but since that is usually invisible, devs will frequently use a small, visible object to mark it. I wouldn’t be surprised if that is what the item box is down there for, and they just forgot to remove the box

I only knew of the pow block save. All the other things are neat little facts that... don't provide much help, except maybe the leaf pile and the trick snipe
I have always theorized that you could avoid the POW Block with a hop, a huge weight that's been with me since childhood has been lifted
My head Cannon is when there's an item so weirdly placed on a map where is unreachable, the game breaks without it and they don't know why so they just leave it there

i am suddenly reminded that i never unlocked any of the other stages in mario kart wii
heres another trick:
in moonview highway, you know how there are those bomb cars that explode whenever you hit them? well this can also happen if those cars are hit by shells. so if, for example, you’re in second and someone else is about to win the race but there’s a bomb car right by them and you have a shell, you can snipe the car and trip them up right at the end. i did this to my sister one time and i haven’t been able to do it again since but i’m super proud of it lol
Additionally, POW blocks can be avoided when using a Wii remote by simply shaking it until the block goes off. If you're quick enough it will bypass the block entirely, but being a little late can also shorten the amount of times you spin

I did two of these as a kid. One was the island off of the ferry, and the other was the pow block dodge. Are you sure it’s a one frame move? Because I would do it consistently as a kid and refuse to believe that I was doing one frame tricks with consistency.
I also found the star in maple freeway, so three.

I did the one frame Trick once as a child and also it was always what I would do if I ran into a Pow Block. Never knew it was that precise
The ghost blocks on SNES GV2 do not deflect you if you drive a kart, or at least that’s the case for me.

I once went under the map on maple treeway on accident. To this day I still have no clue how it happened
Can you make one of these for Kirby and the Forgotten land? Here's some of them. In battle of the blizzard bridge you can take a secret path and at the end you can use a glitch with a hammer to go to the mansion in the background. In the abandoned beach you can use the same glitch to bypass the mini boss zone. In the same one you can also go behind the wall by doing the glitch again. In scale the cement summit if you hug the ceiling in the mouthful part you can fly out of bounds and see an unused area. There's a secret entrance to Kirby's house through the chimney. In Kirby's house you can light the fireplace. In battle of the blizzard bridge you can die in a bonus room and when you respon go out of bounds behind the fence. There are secret blue coins in grass in the point of arrival on a hidden roof in downtown grassland and on the arch in an unexpected beast king. I'll tell you more later.

I used to play with a wiimote and nunchuck and with that combo dodging a pow is a 3 frame trick, and you can do it pretty much every time by shaking the wiimote constantly till the pow hits
He's referring to another mechanic where you can dodge the pow and keep your item. The wiimote mechanic drops your item regardless if you pow dodge

I don't think they forgot about the 3 boxes, i think they just don't care because they don't affect anything. there's plenty of stuff like this in most games! SM64 has loads of them
