@Yaroslav Guerra then its funny because usually metal noobs isnt into complex riffs and more of a catchy riffs, which means death has the ability to both gain heart from "metal noobs" and long time metal listener which i doubt opeth and gojira could, no disrespect tho, gojira and opeth is good but they didnt have the charm death has
@Yaroslav Guerra you can say all you wants because calling names is what you could only do anyway 🤣, you are comparing a band made ages before opeth and gojira, no shit it wouldve better production, not to mention chuck use cheap gears and shit tone anyway but still gain popularity, well if you think gojira and opeth is better for global consumer then explain how they could make catchy riffs and complex at the same time 🤣 gojira and opeth didnt have the charm death have and youre gonna mad facing the truth lmao
Priester did a show-off cover where he included a lot of gratuitous fills. Yet he never achieves the elegance of Hoglan, he works the sticks as if they were shovel handles
Great memories guys! Saw Chuck for the first time in this tour October 95 in MILAN & it was great, Gene at the top, also Bobby & Scott both perfect, what a line up, with SYMBOLIC Chuck reached the PERFECTION
I'm the only one who is so impressed by the technical perfection of the whole band and in particular of that goddamm phenom called Billy Koelble? He put a fucking jazz guitar clinique in the solo of probably the most beautiful death metal song ever, obviously I'm not going to comment CHUCK'S GREATNESS for creating the entire gift to humaity called DEATH, because it's clear to everybody...
Youre not alone man. Bobby made only 3 solos on that album, but well... For me hes the best lead guitarist Chuck had on his albums and i didnt even knew him. That perennial quest solo...
You’re not alone. I’m primarily a guitarist but for me the cymbal work on the album blew me away. I know that sounds stupid but the drumming & especially the cymbals are something I’ve never f-ing heard in my life. The drumming is like a symphony going off all on it’s own. & yeah Bobby Koelble is phenomenal.
Have seen him live a couple of times! The last time on the last tour and in my opinion there is no band, that innovates their sound over the years! From Scream Bloody Gore to Spiritual it's getting more technical, and a few years later they added some progressive stuff! But they were always great! Cheers from Germany and stay healthy!
I got into Death at age 11 (1992 ish.) Changed my life for the better.. This album is a masterpiece.......... RIP Chuck, always sad I didn't get down to Ocala to meet you and jam! 🖤
This lineup performed fucking perfectly. Gene Hoglan plays so tight it almost sounds like a studio recorded drum track, but you can still feel his natural adjustments he makes while playing live
the drum mix is insane! makes you really appreciate Genes work here. that was not a one-off studio performance on the album, he actually plays all the stuff live. insane.
Where did you get these? A whole concert used to be on yt but it was removed and I couldn't find it anywhere since then. It's probably only one good quality live from symbolic era.

Gene is awesome as always. That said, I'm always kinda bummed that Bobby is so underrated in this line-up, the man has a pretty unique style.
