Also kind of surprising, regardless of age. The bass player is generally the last band-member of ANY band that one expects to see bopping around the stage as the main source of energy. One is more accustomed to seeing them stand perfectly still, like Bill Wyman, John Entwistle, or Duck Dunn, with the singer or guitar player hopping around the stage frenetically. I was fortunate enough to see the Jefferson Airplane in 1967, at a free outdoor concert in Montreal, on a double bill with the Grateful Dead. Jack and Jorma are rocking just as hard here as they did then...minus the STP stickers. Good on them!
DAMN...I got the chills watching and hearing them perform that awesome song...and it was only captured on a cell phone camera...must have been incredible to have been there...!
Who slipped Jack the extra Red Bull? Whoever it is, I'd like to shake their hand. Sweet Baby Jeebus, he's coming up on 70 in this video! I'm grinning from ear to ear.
Saw them in early 70's at Winterland when papa john was still around, I was 15, it was nice living close by, I was able to attend many venues hosted by Bill Graham...
my brother Brian Faith played drums with them one night at the'' Would you believe club'' in Santa Barbara they came to our house after the show great guys ... they were in it for the love of music !
Saw The Airplane in 1968 for the first time at the Fillmore West... Saw 'Hot Tuna' last year in Grants Pass Oregon....Unfortunately it was just an acoustic thing....Would love to have heard 'Somebody To Love' again..... Jack Cassidy ROCKED here!!!
It's 2018 and these guys are still out on the road. Caught them locally last year for an acoustic show and was blown away. Need to see them do an electric show before they retire. OTOH, based on their energy level, it may be a few years before they pull the plug!
Great version of this. No one is going to replace Grace Slick, I saw the summer of love reunion of the airplane and it was incredible. If Jerry Garcia was alive he would likely text Jorma something like ' good to see you finally got it right'. Garcia recorded the original track, common story was Jorma was still fresh as a guitarist:)
the first album i ever had with jack and jorma was bless it's pointed little head. 3/5 of a mile in 10 seconds got me hooked forever. add to that the first tuna album acoustic hot tuna and you can understand how they have sustained for over a half century. saw the last electric tour in september this year and they are still going.
Saw Tuna several times...Once at a place called the Old Waldorf in S.F...Came on late because Jorma had been in some kind of fender bender or something like that...They closed the doors, played through the nite defying the city's curfew for such, until morning serving us all breakfast...
These guys are fantastic! I love to watch as Jack is like a tea cup poodle picking on bull dog like Jorma. Their banter is worth the price of admission, but the music is spot on!
Jack Casady is THE man, I used to sit in my room for hours copying him best I could on the Bass Guitar. I learned my chops from him. I used to listen to Bless it's Pointed Little Head, every song on that album is Jack playing lead Bass! What an amazing musician he is. He was my Bass role model when I was learning.
Love it. Looked like he went over and took a slap at Jorma's volume knob in the up direction. Kinda like come on Jorma, let's rock this thing like we used to.
Jack Casady always loved to revisit 'Plane Songs- i think it extended his Life quite literally wash out the cobwebs & relit a Fire long blown down but not out.
When the truth is found To be lies And all the joy Within you dies Don't you want somebody to love Don't you need somebody to love Wouldn't you love somebody to love You better find somebody to love, love When the garden flowers Baby, are dead, yes And your mind, your mind Is so full of red Don't you want somebody to love Don't you need somebody to love Wouldn't you love somebody to love You better find somebody to love Your eyes, I say your eyes May look like his Yeah, but in your head, baby I'm afraid you don't know where it is Don't you want somebody to love Don't you need somebody to love Wouldn't you love somebody to love You better find somebody to love Tears are running They're all running down your dress And your friends, baby They treat you like a guest Don't you want somebody to love Don't you need somebody to love Wouldn't you love somebody to love You better find somebody to love
Geez, I never thought Hot Tuna would play this one...how come you didn't also sing Jack? Come on, you did sing back in the day on "Party Song", so no excuses now.
I'VE ALWAYS LOVED JACK I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO SEE HOT TUNA AT DAVIS CAMPUS IN CALI IN 72 OR 73 KEEP ON TRUCKING YOU GUYS!! P. S. PAPA JOHN WAS LOUD!!!!
What a set of pipes on this woman! Great performance!
Jack is awesome. One of the best, if not the best, bass players ever.
Truth!
I was there that night and I love watching this, repeatedly, often!❤
Inspiring to see 69-year-old Jack Casady feeling it and moving on stage like that. Bravo!
You know it! ✨🎶👍🏽❣
funkaholik Jack,s doin his Woodstock hop 43 years later
and in 1969, he was probably the LAST member of the airplane who would be expected to live this long!

Jack Casady is an American treasure ~
The best!
Those eyebrows
As is Jorma. Saw them 4 times, plus two sets in Airplane concerts.
Good times!
Jorma - "Damn. Jack drank a Monster Energy Drink again."
Goose bumps....after all these decades.
Didn't think Teresa could pull this off but she did NAIL it. Great time. Thanks as always ! The night rocked .
She was amazing. I like this better than anything I have heard before.
It's a great to see Jack and Jorma together! Just like old times!
Saw them in early 70's at Winterland when papa john was still around, I was 15, it was nice living close by, I was able to attend many venues hosted by Bill Graham...

Never saw Jack Casady so animated during a performance. He was having the time of his life here.
Man jorma has a great guitar tone with the les Paul's it sounds great. These guys rock
Just an acoustic thing? What is the matter with you?
Casady, dammit, Casady!

Very jealous, I'm stoked that Jack still goes hard
Jack is still rocking in the Free World
What a wonderful Jack's bass, Wooo!
Vocalist isn't bad. Takes a lot of guts to sing Grace's song with the guys who recorded it.
It's got THE BEAT and THE CHEMISTRY! Outstanding regardless of AGE etc! Keep on ROCKIN' Jack!
Hot Tuna with Teresa Williams and Larry Campbell kick it with "Somebody to Love."
She's no Grace Slick but at least she pulled it off! Thanks, I've subscribed to your channel and I look forward to enjoying more of your videos! ✨🎶☮
Yeah Grace Slick had that deep guttural that came out beautifully!
Ah. Great people playing great music. Keep on truckin'
Thanks for posting this!
I've never seen Jack so amped up. It's like watching Wayne Kramer up there.
Doesn't matter the axe, nobody else sounds like Jorma...

2024 and still going! 😁

These guys are fantastic! I love to watch as Jack is like a tea cup poodle picking on bull dog like Jorma. Their banter is worth the price of admission, but the music is spot on!

Humble people are honest people ♡
Teresa Willams can belt it out.

My idols
HOLY SHEEEEIIITTT! Un-freaking believable!!
Jack & Skoota have this on perfect time, great.
I don't think Jack moved that much even when he was a kid in the Airplane
Jack might have the feeling that never goes away.17 forever!!!!
That drummer is smashing it.
Jack reminds me sooo much of Norman Watt Roy
both totally brilliant
Hot Tuna are too cool 😎 to quit and Theresa and Larry are amazing together!
GREATNESS !!!!
"When the Truth is found to be lies…"
No one has the power to really sing these words except Grace Slick.
JACK!!!
When the truth is found
To be lies
And all the joy
Within you dies
Don't you want somebody to love
Don't you need somebody to love
Wouldn't you love somebody to love
You better find somebody to love, love
When the garden flowers
Baby, are dead, yes
And your mind, your mind
Is so full of red
Don't you want somebody to love
Don't you need somebody to love
Wouldn't you love somebody to love
You better find somebody to love
Your eyes, I say your eyes
May look like his
Yeah, but in your head, baby
I'm afraid you don't know where it is
Don't you want somebody to love
Don't you need somebody to love
Wouldn't you love somebody to love
You better find somebody to love
Tears are running
They're all running down your dress
And your friends, baby
They treat you like a guest
Don't you want somebody to love
Don't you need somebody to love
Wouldn't you love somebody to love
You better find somebody to love
JORMA ...🎸🔥🎼♥️☮️🙏...TERESA ♥️🙏...De Argentina 🇦🇷✌️👏 2021
Jack Casady leads the song, he is so good and perfect in tempo, he drives everybody even the drummer who is a young guy !
excellent toute ma jeunesse ❤👍
Yes!
That was good!!!!
Awesome🙃
I wonder if Jack could play at all if someone one taped his eyebrows in place,,, lol, He is awesome,,,,,
Geez, I never thought Hot Tuna would play this one...how come you didn't also sing Jack? Come on, you did sing back in the day on "Party Song", so no excuses now.
Jack was having a ball!
that girl really has Grace Slick's spirit. The dark haired guy on guitar looks like Jackson Brown.
What a way to make a living!
Seems as though Jack decided to eliminate about 70% of the notes he used to play on this song back in the '60s. I miss his contrapuntal bass line.
que sontt devenus les musiciens de l'airpalane et du starship ?
Jumpin' Jack Casady is a gas, gas, GAS!
Holy Shit!
Jack Casady !!
Jorma Kaukonen !!
Would be awesome if grace joined them
Tremendous

If you dont know Jorma you dont know Jack...
