Our favorite plant for sure! Our FT started as a small shrub. In one year it’s become a 4’ tree. It’s become a beloved family member and now we freak out if it even looses a leaf.😅
Hi there, are you growing this outdoors? Or or you looking to get a bonsai effect with your triangle fig? I need a little more info to help you. What character you are looking for?
@@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN Hi. Thanks so much for replying. I am keeping this indoors. It's grown horizontally wider (2x's) than taller... I want it to be more bushy and tall. Hope that helps...
@@theallisoncartwright , Ok thanks, I have a good idea on how to help you now, try pruning the outer branches 2" in from outer edges, all the way around the plant. this will do 2 things; encourage new growth from other stems ( some of which should shoot upwards, but it will also most likely cause new growth where you trimmed. At where you trimmed,, encourage only the new growth that is shooting up, cut off horizontal shoots.
Good post. I've had mine for about a year and I planted it in the garden today. I encouraged top growth so it looks like a little pine tree. It is in full sun at least six hour a day. I want to get a variegated ficus lyrata.
Thanks! And I'm sure your variegated triangle fig will steal the show in your garden! It's such a cool plant. But then again a variegated Fiddle Leaf.. now that would be sooo cool to have. I have a Tineke ficus, which has large variegated leaves similar in size to the fiddle, but a variegated Fiddle...wow, that would be a show stopper :)
We don't mist. But we live in Miami and have higher humidity than most places so.... our plant, yet to be named :) does well without misting, But we also open our balcony doors from time to time during spring/fall and that might help with rising the indoor humidity throuhgout our condo. If you were to mist I would say let your plant guide you. Start with 3 times a week to start and see if Sofia responds well. Hope this helps, M
@@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN will email you pics here in a few! She is sitting near a window but we live in Austin Texas and I don’t think the air is humid enough for her!
Hello, perhaps you can help me? My variegated ficus dropped all its leaves. Is she salvageable? What can I do? I’m considering purchasing another one. But I still would like to save this one! I hate to kill anything. Thank you kindly
Hi! This can happen from time to time (even on mine, but not all leaves, just some). My running hypothesis is low lighting/humidity. So you may want to give her some more light and humidity by placing her temporarily 2-3 weeks on a covered patio or under a shade tree. New leaves should start to come out. Now, if you plant has lost all her leaves, check a branch and see if it is stiff and can snap off, or if it is still felxible. Flexiblie is alive, stiff is probably dead.Hopes this helps!😀🪴
Mine won’t stop dropping leaves. I have it in a west facin bay window so light comes in from 3 sides. I made an organic soil of peat coco coir a little bark and worm castings and perlite. When I repotted it it did amazing didn’t drop any leafs for like 3 weeks but now it’s back to dropping 2-6 leaves every day. If a branch is empty should I chop it? Why would it be dropping so many leafs? 😫
Triangle fig can be finicky at times. Do not cut branch yet. Question: Have you moved her recently? Have you changed the amount of times you water ie more/less?
@@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN well I cut back on watering Bc it’s fall and it’s taking it longer to dry out. But other than that everything is the same. I wonder if it’s dropping leafs Bc it’s getting darker sooner. What are macro nutrients? Maybe it’s hungry? 🤷♀️
@@ekamarie6632 Yes, could be low light that's dropping leaves. Macro's are NPK. Nitrogen/ Phosphorus and Potassium. But plants need minor nutrients as well. Those are boron, magnesium, iron, zinc and a few others. Jacks 20-20-20 brand has both, that's why we like it. hope it helps.😀🪴
The plant sometimes drops leaves if it is too dark of a location. Or soil may have been a little dry and so she dropped leaves. Check soil moisture and keep in high light area (500 foot candles or higher). Leaves will usually come back out after a couple weeks. Hope this helps😀🪴

What about pruning this? I want it to grow up tall with stem only on bottom.. thanks!

Also when people say you have to mist it how does one do that ? Or if you keep watered enough is misting still a requirement ?

Buy a humidifier. Misting has very minimal effect compared to a humidifier.

@@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN I think so maybe i have to put outside get some sun before i put in side . Thank you so much 🙏🤟
How do I add a pic of mine ? Just got one and named her Sofia
Love the name. You can send Sofia plant pic by email: letsgrowdesignhelp@gmail.com. And congrats!
How can I put light on it indoors? The sun is not enough. Should I place it with a grow light or just normal indoor lights will do?
Hi there. I suggest a grow light if your triangle is in a dimly lit area.
