Thank you for this video!! Needing an RTMP capable low light color for barn/animal camera streaming. Do you think the HDW5442 with LED is a good choice?
Truly impressive low light performance! Amazing comparison well done! Main drawback with these 5442 cameras seems to be when subjects are close and center they are washed out - this is seen in this review around 11:30 (when hands are down face is washed out) and reported in some forums. IMO the low light performance is so impressive it outweighs the blowout problem making the 5442 the top of my list
Could you Provide Details how big your Yard ist and how high the Cam was placed? We have the Same Szenario but have to Cover a 15x25 Meter area...so a 8mp LED Camera would maybe make Sense? Installation will be at 4 Meters height.
Hello. Do you know the ipc-hdw5442tm-as-led camera Whether the SMD camera will also work in face detection mode at the same time, there is no information anywhere, but it is very important to know.
Thanks for all that information. I'd consider one in my next project. I purchased the dahua 4k 12 mp fish eye camera and having difficulty finding a nvr with 12mp. My nvr is only 4k 8mp. Would you recommend one nvr for a 4k 12mp fisheye camera.?
Hi, Thanks for this great review. I'm in the market for a wifi camera, whereby I am planning to use an external floodlight (to make people aware they are getting noticed. Is there a specific camera you would recommend?
I have the Dahua 4MP IPC-HDW2439T-AS-LED-S2 Full-color camera. Is there a way to turn off the LED-s? Or set them for motion detection? I can not find any option for that. In the video you manage to turn the LED.s off or lower the light. In the manual the 5442 has the same option for illumination setting Auto/Manual as the 2439 in the manual. Thats why Im asking if its possible with the 5442 then could be possible with the 2439 too. Thx.
My concern with these is I do not want LED lights on all night and also if they made it motion activated, how quickly could the camera really adjust anyway and with high false triggers the LED would come on\off a lot and also e a disturbance with close neighbors as much as an always on. I wish some of the manufacturers would incorporate PIR like my spotlights have which have a much more accurate triggering for motion of people and animals and avoid triggering for swaying branches and such.
You do such a great job! I was really looking forward to this one. The 5442 in low light is very impressive. I am still stuck between outfitting the outside of my home with 5831s or 5442s for security purposes. I don’t want to annoy my neighbors with bright leds on a camera at night but there is a good amount of distance between my home and the neighbors and not very much light outside at night... so stuck knowing which way to go. Color at night would be awesome (just a preference). The 5831 is also tempting because well 4K is 4K. What would you do in my situation? Is IR or color generally better to do as far as night time clarity in very low light? I think I’m more concerned with night time picture quality. Probably will try to run the cameras through Blue Iris with a setup similar to Rob from The Hook Up’s TH-cam channel.
Hi, i got some questions about this Dahua HDW5442: Does this camera have PoE but more importantly, can this camera stream directly to youtube by means of RTMP? I am looking for a not too expensive camera. If this HDW5442 does not have the above functions, which one would you recommend to me? P.S. The intention is for this camera to go underwater. Do you also happen to have experience with this? Thanks in advance! Bedankt alvast!
Thanks for comparing and contrasting these cameras. We all have different needs and it is very helpful to know about options before going forward with a design or purchase. I've recently become interested in Main and Substream so noting which cameras have decent menus or controls for that would also be helpful. (Although this doesn't impact this video.) Thanks for your work as usual.
Hello sir, i have a out of topic question. I have a plan to install several Ipcam. I choose HikVision DS-2CD1121G0 (2mp Dome) and the problem is, i want to connect those ipcam into 5 NVR. Is that possible?
When Updating firmware, what is the difference in PN_Stream and NP_stream? General_SD vs. DH_SD when trying to determine which one to download and install? Thanks!
hey, can you check out the SD29204T-GN-W? i have not seen a lot of videos from you about ptz cameras. And it would be better to put the different videos side by side not one by one, better to compare when you can look at the different outputs at the same time. Love your videos
Man, that color night mode does not hold up well when theres no light. At 18:17 you just about teleport away as you move past the camera. I hope it does better in IR B&W mode in such situations.
The problem i have with these LED cams, as well as IR, is the insects. Clearly you were having issues with insects on the outside cam. If illuminating a scene, would'nt it be ideal to have an independent LED light that sits away from the cam to keep bugs off?
I would always use CBR over VBR where storage space and bandwidth allows it. It will always result in a higher quality image if set to the same maximum bitrate.
I think the low light cameras have a good place in those areas where they don't ever get full sunlight, and get limited light at night. Maybe an area that is narrow where IR reflection off other surfaces could cause issues with washed out pictures.
I don't want a bright light as I live in an area where Dark Skies is a requirement as we have astronomical observatories in the region and so the city has strict requirements for outdoor lighting. I have a lot of nocturnal animal activity that I want to capture and security is a close but second priority. I lean towards night recording being more important than the daytime for me. This looks like a good camera for me but I am concerned about how bright the visible LEDs are. Are they dimmable? How bright are they? Thanks for all of the time and effort you put into your videos. From Tucson Arizona, USA
So this camera (or rather sensor) does pretty good without any additional light (as you could see in the video). The LEDs are remotely controllable and can be dimmed from 0 - 100 and that seems to work fine. So you can put them an acceptable manual level in the web interface. Brightness, well if you look directly in them they are bright like a flash light is, but in regards to the amount of light produced it isn't that much really. I included a shot looking into the LEDs and the room level you see there is about real-life, so it's much less then even a ceiling light for instance, it's just a bright point where it comes from.
@@IntermitTech which camera would you recommend for night shooting? IPC-HDW5442TM-AS-LED or IPC-HDW3549TM-AS-LED, or which model for clear night shots?
@@trulikjan HDW5442 has a much much bigger sensor and slightly less pixels, so per pixel it will be much bigger. So I'd go for HDW5442 if night time without IR was needed.
However you never include a preview of the web interface of the cameras and the options included. For example for the new Dahua can I use it without an NVR and still utilize its features for storage recording (ftp? SD card? Email notifications, etc..) does it has a good event motion detection ?
True, I have to chose and cut what to include, it was already a 30 minute review and generally I use an NVR to do recording and not locally, so I don't feel 100% comfortable talking about features I don't extensively use/test myself. But yes it can record directly to SD card and it's part of the highest AI line of Dahua (WizMind Series) allowing some of the best motion detection (including (according to the PDF) Tripwire, Intrusion(Human & Vehicle classification) and line crossing or even people counting)). But as said, I haven't tested those features myself, I am planning on doing a future piece about this having these events triggering high-res recording directly in an NVR. Hope you can understand :)

You can do it from the web interface. Motion detection is not an option since it would be dark without the LED lights on, so what would it trigger on?
@@IntermitTech Hi. Thanks for the info. Finally I found it.👍😊 They should really put this option ( illuminator) into the SmartPSS software.

Firmware upgrade without a problem

What about car lights dazzled which one is best at night to see cars plate and driver please advise
Then the low light camera for sure, anything IR won't let you read the plates anyway. Low light with HDR mode could potentially.

They will get a bit warm yes, especially if IR is on, that's normal

I have a 2431T that started to reboot every time you access the HD stream that I had set to VBR; changing to CBR fixed that.
I would always use CBR over VBR where storage space and bandwidth allows it. It will always result in a higher quality image if set to the same maximum bitrate.
yeah, and then check the default shutter speed on the 5442, and you see 1/3rd s shutters, clearly motion blur on the dark footage
Scan you adjust the 442 led's. Or will they keep burning during darkness?
