Thank you for this video. I'm a learner who just started driving in March.i failed my first driving test, especially reverse in the corner because I hit the kerb 😢😢😢 Now I know the reason from this video. No one has ever told me I need to adjust my left mirror😢😢😢 I couldn't see the kerb.
My driving instructor said yes but what happens is most people after it forget to fix the mirror back and get caught then when they continue driving during the test.
When reversing are you looking through the back left passenger window or the rear view window. Almost impossible to look through back window with two hands on steering wheel
Hiya, just wondering if I was half way through my reverse around the corner and a car came from behind out of the junction. When i pull forward will i need to indicate left? Or should i indicate right away from the kerb and the quickly left?
Predominantly over the left shoulder to the road you are reversing into but taking all round observation at the same time aswell as over your right shoulder...See video for guidance
in my ares during the reverse around the corner, it's always done where theres a yellow line on the edge of the road, does it matter if i am on top of the yellow line when I am straightening up and finishing the manoeuvre? Or should I keep away form it?
Why would you need to look over your right shoulder before you stop any car? You do not need to look over your right shoulder before stopping the car..It's dangerous..The right shoulder Blindspot check is done when moving off from a stationary position and definitely not before stopping..Hope this helps
The whole looking over shoulder straining neck during this manoeuvre defeats the purpose of using mirrors. mirrors are designed and can be positioned for this. Anybody with upper spine disability will struggle with it.
As part of the test..which is obviously nothing you control.... how is this particular maneouver relevant in everyday driving? surely reversing around a corner would be discourgaged unless absolutely necessary...
This manoeuvre should not be carried out in housing estates. There are plenty of test centres or industrial areas where it is safer for the learner driver and less disruptive to the public. It should be made illegal.
So its safer in an industrial estate, rather than a housing estate, you drive a car forward most of the time, so you have to be checked on reverse, its a basic maneuver,
@@stephenkavanagh7509 what I meant was it should be illegal to carry this manoeuvre out in housing estates. The instructors should do this in the test centre area itself or in that industrial area.
@@raemotsoane814 you probably failed because you didn't react appropriately or timely to that estate traffic. Its a perfectly normal real world situation. I am dreading this manoeuvre on my test tomorrow 😢
@@nothanks6988 you got this! Im alot better at it now, just needed to get out of my head, keep chanting..’slowly, take your time’ at myself while in the test.
Because a left signal is an incorrect signal when you a reversing ...You are not stopped nor turning left...In reverse your white reverse light is on which is sufficient to let people know you are reversing..No left signal needed. .Thanks for the question..
@LadybirdDrivingSchool highly disagree. Hazard lights always on in a lot of countries since smaller white light is invisible in broad daylight. So yeah technically correct but not really smart.

This is from a country that once handed out full driving licences to people who never even done a driving test or had lessons. Shameful and embarrassing.

Do we need to indicate when driving around a reserved corner?
just wondering if can you fix the left mirror (looking down the kerb) before reversing during the exam?
No, it causes more blind spots.
My driving instructor said yes but what happens is most people after it forget to fix the mirror back and get caught then when they continue driving during the test.
@@aideenbolger8149 I think every driving instructor is different they expect you to be a robot at times ha
You can adjust the mirror as long as you reposition it after the manouvre

Rear window always. Turn your body
Thank you
Thank you for advice
No problem Abul. We’re glad you found it useful! Best of luck on your test.
Hi all, so do you really only need to steer right to straighten up at the end?
Yeah
Hiya, just wondering if I was half way through my reverse around the corner and a car came from behind out of the junction. When i pull forward will i need to indicate left? Or should i indicate right away from the kerb and the quickly left?
Indicate left as this indicates you are pulling towards the kurb, if you indicate right the car behind may think you wish to pull out infront of them

As long as you are not parking there it's fine. And if you stop, don't do it for long time and it will be fine
Hi, do you now if you have to stop the car fully before looking over your right. shoulder? Thx
