As a warrior in this fight, i absolutely love it! I go in solo tank and its super fun! The invuln knock back into a white mage's benidiction and using your gap closer to keep him centered is peak tank fantasy! 😂
I would LOVE to see Thordan Unreal. He was the first EX I completed synced, and I was able to just barely clear it while being dead at the end with half the party, but he was a SUPER fun fight and I'd love to have a good excuse to really learn it. Zurvan has been fun but it's honestly a nightmare for PF. The combination of the first half being kinda long and boring, the insane body check with Broken Seal, and the fact that no one wants to come up with a strategy to deal with Broken Seal in PF makes it really frustrating and I've seen a lot of toxicity because of it. I'm like 100 points away from getting the flying bed but I've been so frustrated I'm taking a break from this.
Yeah haha Thordan EX back in the day was a lot of fun. I think the EX trials back then actually resembled a tier 1 savage fight, or at least Thordan did anyway. I can’t wait to fight him again in 6.5! 😁
I've successfully finished this once on an Alt and since then struggled for Weeks with no success on my Main. It's unreal how many people have so many issues with Zurvan thanks to Broken Seal being so extraordinarily punishing
Sometimes I think I'm the stupidest DRG main in the entire game but then I see stuff like this and realize that my 2 brain cells are higher than what the average DRG has.
The only authentic part you’ve missed out on (I jest) are the “skip soar” or disband memes. Back in HW people would disband and leave if soar wasn’t skipped at the start lol. Because Zurvan was late patch cycle, everyone was quite well geared etc and the first soar (can’t remember the second) was pretty easily skipped with good DPS on the top platform. So far Sephirot was my favourite unreal but he was back in HW anyway. Seriously excited for Thordan in 6.5 though! 😁
I've done all Extremes except some ShB ones. Based on this video I think your expectations for Nidhogg should be put in check, if you didn't like the add phase here you'll probably hate it there, but Thordan will be based indeed. Thordan is 100% an unreal they should aim to keep forever, since it's one of the best pieces of content in the game.

Cause as far as I've done my Zurvan Broken seals; Whoever is tether to MT and MT go East and whoever got an opposite tether to the MT go East, often a non-caster since they can move to warn their partner to move East. Caster DPS will stay W to avoid having to slide-cast and just make it easier. it also looked like you don't have the Soar markers? There's markers that will quite literally show you where to stand for Soar. So PF lack excuses to fail it. I did Zurvan last week as a healer and OH GURL that was so stress healing from tank damage, to bad tank, dps getting hit by stupid stuff, was good :) Reminded me of Sephiroth. If have two ready to heal healers you can survive trough most mechanic [Except Broken seals if have 3 not soak] Also seem we have a very different way of seeing PF, which I find interesting; I absolute HATED Sophia and even gave up on reclearing it cause people would always die to enrage, even on no death pulls! I want my tell/retell nice and quick, done, next thing to do. While you seem to enjoy the failures of others I never thought of it this way But ye, Zurvan great, everyone should try it, it's simpler than Sophia so not too scary, those autos tho :)
I've definitely seen the prio system you mentioned being used before. A lot of parties also just wing it though which ends up being pretty entertaining. I feel like the perspective I have on pf now is just a result of spending so much time in there across ultis and savage. I make an effort to just have fun with it and laugh now because getting frustrated just leads to feeling burnt out and not wanting to raid. I definitely used to just get frustrated with pf tho and I didn't always have this perspective. The new tier has especially made me realize that I need to take things less seriously and just have fun with it in order to avoid frustration.
I'd love to do an Unreal but theres NEVER prog parties. It's always tell/retell like damn I never played in HW I don't know the fight but everyone just assumes you do because it's so old. I should have jumped on Shiva Unreal when I had the chance, I atleast have some experience with that synced because of Blue Mage.
this is stupid and overly optimized but, if you use harvest moon before zurvan unshackles you can sneak in a soulsow inbetween landing on the platform and him becoming targetable. optimizations like that are always fun for me
not stupid at all, optimization is always fun. Good advice! You can probably fit quite a few soulsows in this fight now that I think about it (during soars, after adds phase, etc). Should be fun to optimize over the coming weeks.
