    One of the colossal problems with Windows, is that they randomly choose to move things around . . . for who knows what reason. Start button . . . same place for ages then . . l just move it from where everyone knows. I mention this because videos like this would be so much more helpful if the rug wasn't yoinked out from underneath you. The foundation of the look of the loadout & where everything is has changed. There are zero schedules of when things like this may or may not happen. You could launch your computer & if it had auto updates on; you never know what you're going to get. Thank you for the video, I wish the layout of Windows Video Editor had not been manipulated.

    I wanted a simple, straight forward, No frills (well not too many) video editor that would be easy to use, as I would only use irregularly for occasional TH-cam content.
    All the others free (or free trial) apps that I tried were well very advanced, confusing, and had to keep ‘re-learning’ every time I wanted to produce another video … VERY frustrating.
    I did not appreciate that there was a ‘built in’ free editor in windows 11, so finding your tutorial was an absolute god send, thank you so much for your efforts, it is much appreciated.

    It is very frustrating that Microsoft has forced an update that replaced this original, easy to use, Video Editor with the complex monstrosity that is ClipChamp. I wish there was a way to get it back.

    Of course, they don't have a crop feature which is the easiest thing to add, sigh back to using online video trimmer oh well. Not talking about trimming a video they have that, but they don't have where u can click the video and crop out say the top portion of a video to hide a certain portion of the video which is very basic and important in editing.

    Yeah, the format of the app has completely changed. No longer offers you the option of free video editing.. makes you download a third-party video editor to use instead. I feel like these people get off on making our lives more complicated than they have to be. Beyond frustrating, I literally just wanna splice two videos together and I don't wanna have to pay $50 for some BS editing software I'll only use a few times!!!

    Wow that was so helpful. Thank you. *2 questions* I'll get to them in a second. I was told at Best Buy that windows 11 doesn't even come with a video editor. Now when I buy my next laptop, I don't have to download another one. This seems like it would be perfect for what I'm using it for. My 1st question is- Once you save a video, can you upload it to TH-cam? And the other one is- Is the music that comes with the video editor copyrighted? In other words, if I upload it to TH-cam will they put a stop to it?

    • @annheatherton
      @annheatherton 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I will tell you what I know. I bought a new laptop in November and it had Windows 11 pre-loaded. Microsoft DID get rid of MovieMaker, but their Photos app contains a video editor within it, and I use that one. No need to download other software unless you need more capability. Once you create your video in the Photo app, you can export it and then upload to your TH-cam channel. Regarding the music, I have had ONE copyright claim against background music I used from the Windows Photo app. The volume a little too high. I have read that if the volume is high, it can get flagged for copyright issues (strange, I know). But since I was confident that MS Windows had negotiated the use of the background music, I contested that copyright claim and it was dropped. (There are some unscrupulous individuals that place copyright claims on music that is not actually theirs. The game seems to be to induce you to allow their advertising on your channel.). And should the claim stand, just remove that background music and replace it with a free one from TH-cam.

    Great video! Simple, east to follow. I thought I'd be able to use this software for my project. However, apparently not! Using Roxio's VHS to DVD software, which also allows saving the videos to your hard drive, I created a video file from an old tape of my wife conducting her high school band. The software saved the file as a MPG file, which opens and plays in the Windows 11 video player. However, when I try to import this file into the Windows 11 video editor, I get the message that "this is not a video file." Huh?? I really just want to add a title slide and trim the front/back ends for a few years of these concert videos she asked me to digitize now that she's retired. Any suggestions on the best simple/free editor for mpg video files? Thanks!

    Hi there, I tried adding custom audio to my projects but some audios are working and some are not. Any idea how to resolve this?
