      UPDATE : I decided to go ahead and get my certified nursing assistance license (CNA) as well, took 6 weeks. The plan is to juggle both.

    I’m 44 and I am nothing right now. I am interested in becoming an LPN because I am not sure I want to spend the time and prerequisites for RN. I’m not getting any younger. In fact in December I will be 45. I always felt I should be a nurse but I was always fearful of going after what I want which speaks volumes of my struggles within and I went through a journey. Yes! ASAP I want to change my life because honestly I was working on hard stuff and now I need to do this nursing thing for myself 🙏 and an RN might not be it for rn …

      LPN’s make more hourly than the majority of the jobs out there. It’s better to go the LPN route depending on your circumstances, especially if you aren’t trying to spend years in school to get there. There’s pro and cons but like you said you’re in your 40s so time is a factor. In my area it’s 9 months to 12 months to become a LPN. I’m 40 too. That’s the route I plan.

    I’m a teacher and I’ve decided to change careers. I’m doing LPN evening classes. I have a bachelors degree + 15 credits towards a masters, but in education. The LPN program is a year and it’s part time. This particular program has specialties. It was worth it and a what I could afford out of pocket. I could’ve done RN, but it’s much more expensive and the programs are much more intensive and I still have to work to pay for school lol. I also felt that the LPN program was a good way to get a foot in the door in another profession. I’ve taught for 5 years and I absolutely loathe it.

    Thank you for your video. Yes making the money upfront will cause you to second guess about the RN. But I make enough as an LPN, I have done Peds, Cardio, MultiSpecialty, and Now no bedside care at all I am in Telehealth. I have done nursing posters and being a speaker at conferences all while having my LPN. I started on my RN then I said it has to make sense with salary and paying for it after. If I am going to take a cut in pay and have to pay more in student loans I would not even be breaking even. I don’t have any further goals to make me want to obtain my RN but you do so it makes sense. Now if my loans get wiped away then yes, it make sense to go back then figure out what my next step would be. But I also have a trucking company with my husband so it has to make sense. • @GeeGeeScott
    @GeeGeeScott ปีที่แล้ว +20

    It may be a cut in pay in the beginning. As soon as you get 6 months to a year of RN experience you’re going to make more than the LPN pay. A lot of hospitals will count your LPN experience and consider that when you’re negotiating pay. If at all possible, advance yourself and get your RN! Good luck.

    HEY CJ. Michigan nurse who we t from lpn to rn a few years ago. Going from lpn to rn was VERY VERY WORTH IT. The assessment skills and critical thinking is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. I am a ER nurse since leaving the nursing home. Well sort of leaving. When I go and work at the nursing I do things differently then I did as a lpn. Doctors can tell the difference from RNs in the hospital settings from the RNs in the nursing home settings. Now I was going to get my NP but they make 50k to 60k LESS than an average RN since the pandemic. NPs CAN NOT make over time. Wishing you well on your journey. Will be following you. God 🙌 bless you
