As someone who watched this whole telenovela and the brazilian remake: Santiago the insane billionaire/asshole is by far the best character. He is crazy, starts randomly arguing with Malvina and her children, has some memeable lines, and it's never clear if he actually likes Maria at least a bit, or if he just used her to piss off Malvina. He is just fun to watch because you never know what that absolute madman is going to say or do next. When he died he took the entertainment with him.
I know! Ngl, as wacky as his character is, You gotta give it to the actor. He REALLY nailed him! Goddamn! But tbh, I feel like he kinda liked Meche in the end. At least she wasn't insane like the rest of his family

These shows along with other Mexican telenovelas like Marimar and Maria La del Barrio is the neighborhood spectacle every night. The mothers are gathered on the sofa with the teenage girls and the younger kids were spread all through out the floor. What a fun memory to have.

I know, right? The villain (the mother in law) ended up going crazy herself and getting dressed in Maria's street clothes. She went to the streets and started juggling balls (phrasing) just like Maria did in the beginning. Her son and daughter then committed her to a mental hospital before his wedding to Maria.
