    It's crazy to think that at one point, Mexico dominated the entire global television with only one woman and basically the exact same show premise in just 4 successive telenovelas.

    • @rpgadventurer32
      @rpgadventurer32 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Well not exactly. The telenovelas that dominated the global television were the great Argentinian and Brazilian telenovelas. The Mexican ones were always considered low level and were a complete joke in comparison. Watch the some of the best Argentinian and Brazilian telenovelas and then you'll find out that the bad name for Telenovelas mostly came from Mexico because other countries put out great dramas and shows these past few decades.

      Stories of Thalia's roles are almost similar. She'll be known as a poor girl in the beginning. Then she'll meet the love of her life. Soon they will have a baby that will be separated from her, causing her to go insane. Another man will come into the picture to bring her sanity back and financial success. Then the true love comes back to reclaim her.

    Rosalinda was BIG in my country Malaysia back in the early 2000s. We had a funny name for this show: Rosalinda Ayamas, a play on the word Rosalinda Ayamour from the intro song. Ayamas is a local frozen chicken brand.

    • @amaya2megumi
      @amaya2megumi 4 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Don't forget Telenovelas that pretty hot aired on Malaysia early 2000s:
      Maria Mercedes
      La Usurpadora
      Yo Soy Betty La Fea
      Can't remember the title, but the song Purest of Pain (and the Malaysian cover Vida) was based on this theme song.

    • @francoenriquezamora1163
      @francoenriquezamora1163 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Also in country way back 1999, everyone got hooked in the show because it was Thalia's new telenovela which was fresh and something new after the popularity of her "Maria" telenovelas aired in our country since mid 90's I guess. We also had a funny name with its OST, the line "Rosalinda, ay amor! ay amor!", we funnily turned it into "Rosalinda may amoy, may amoy" which means Rosalinda stinky/smells bad.

      I honestly enjoy hearing about how much people are into these. In America if you spend all your time watching soaps, people tend to look down on you. Tevenovelas were huge here in Serbia during the 90s and 00s, almost all of the ones you’ve covered in these series were on our TV, the whole family (mostly the females) would gather every night to watch it. I’ve never been to Mexico, but I’ve heard from many foreigners and Mexicans who have visited Serbia (Southeatern Europe, Balkans) that our mentalities and lifestyle are quite similar, so maybe that’s why Mexican soup operas were so huge here. 😅

    This may sound like a crazy fictional telenovela. But my real life has been really dramatic too… My mom was the side piece of a 40 year old Drug dealer, he left her when he found out she was pregnant with me. Then he got shot and died. His family literally tried to buy me from her 💀 and because my mom said no, they disowned me and pretended I never existed.. My mom married an American guy, and we moved to America. But she didn’t actually love him, so then they got divorced.. She tried to remarry another guy who she actually liked, but he left her and then she had a full on fit exactly like Rosalinda.. Like literally lost her mind and ran barefoot down the street 😭😭 I had to hospitalize her in a Mental hospital against her will until she got better. [Craziest thing that ever happened to me tbh] Anyway, She’s better now and married a different guy.

      Actually there are only 4 novelas from 90s with her

      I wish, I really wish! But no... only 4. And 2 smaller roles in other telenovelas... but starring, only 4.

      No, she only did like 5 telenovelas total.
      *Edit* I looked it up and she did a couple more. Those 5 were just iconic. She did 7 in total, but the other two aren't really iconic. One was her very first telenovela and it was only a supporting role, and the other was between Quinceañera and Maria Mercedes and it was a lead role.

      Thalia only had 4 major telenovelas. Rosalinda and the Maria Trilogy aka the Maria Cinematic Universe lol

    Rosalinda is like a rip-off of the tres marias roles played by Thalia

    This was aired in the Philippines twice. First in 2000, then to its rival network's secondary channel in 2007 and they made a Philippine adaptation/remake of it in 2009 after their successful remake of Marimar in 2007. 🤣
    EDIT: We used to make fun of the theme song when I'm was a kid so instead of "Rosalinda, ay amor! Ay amor!", we misheard that as "Rosalinda may amoy! Mabantot!" (Rosalinda smells like crap!). 🤣

      @@joe_lubinda well, it used to be a trend to remake some popular Latin telenovelas and even Asian dramas that we Filipinos loved. That was around late 2000s to early 2010s. Some are great but some are just poor execution especially they made a so-called Philippine "sequel" to Japanese Tokusatsu series "Shaider" called "Zaido". 😂
