Wood turning - Mahogany Bowl

  • I was given an 8 inch Mahogany bowl blank. It initially looked like two pieces of wood glued together, but it was just how it had been cut.
    It came out quite well, with a nice shiny finish!

    That grain and those colours it has are awesome. It did look laminated, at first, and was sort of hoping that the outside stayed that way. I am always wondering if I should sharpen or should I just run a steel over the tools... So hard to figure it out, but sharp tools are a must.

      I don't think you always have to go back to the wheel every time but hone it on a stone or a diamond plate to keep a sharp edge.
