I used to work for a community banking company that celebrated Arbor Day each spring by giving away about 3000 seedling trees to the public as a PR event. Over the years, we gave away Green Ash, Red Bud, Hawthorn and Golden Rain seedlings. This project ran for at least 25 years and probably netted upwards of 7 to 10 thousand new trees in our community assuming about 10 to 15 per cent actually were planted and grew. I think the project ended in the late 1980s so the youngest of these trees would be over 30 years old by now. Since we featured Golden Rain trees every three or so years there is an abundance of mature examples of this species in my hometown and each time I visit, I see them everywhere. Really an unusual and attractive tree in an urban setting. The yellow flowers in June, followed by the tawny-colored lantern seed pods and small, dark green leaves make this a very special tree. To know its wood is so decorative makes me feel really glad I helped bring a large number of these great trees to my old home town.

That vase you created was gorgeous! I love the way you let the shape of the burl dictate the shape. I bet that was fun to turn, too!
Thanks Fig. It was an enjoyable piece. Glad you enjoyed it too 😊👍🏻🙏
WOW 😳 it is beautiful 🤩
Thank you 😊
Iv been fascinated by these videos recently. So satisfying to watch. It’s Making me want to get myself a lathe

Nice one Tim. Thanks for watching 😊👍🏻
What I love about turning irregular pieces like this is that you just never know what is in there. Yet...it was always meant to be. The mystery.
It’s a wonderful thing is it not. You do much turning?
@@JackMackWoodturning Not in many years. No longer have a lathe, but the craft always fascinates me and your work and videos are really really good!
Thank you. I’m glad you can still enjoy it. 😊
Absolutely stunning outstanding workmanship so jealous

Absolutely stunning. Has multiple exquisite patterns that remind me the best polished Malachite pieces I've seen.
Do you have a website or on-line store?
Thanks for sharing your art- Jeff
Hi Jeff. Not at the moment. I am hoping to set something up next week! Thanks for watching man 😉👍🏻
@@JackMackWoodturning Please let me know when you do and how to reach you. Thx
Wish I had a shop to create these gems, your very fortunate and talented. This is a great piece. Looks awesome man! One of the best trade skills to ever have.
Much appreciated S. Are you a photographer? 👍🏻👌🏻
Somewhat but with the technology I would need a refresher course on some of equipment
Amazing work!
Thanks. Cheers for watching 😊👍🏻
My grandpa used to turn tree knots into tables. They are some of the coolest things I've ever seen.
Nice P. Do you have any pics?
Dittos on all the praise you got for your workmanship and the beauty of the final product!
I did have a tech question though. At around 8:40 or so, you are using what appears to be a powered chisel. Who makes such a thing and may I ask where one might find one of these?
Thanks mark. The one I have is sold by Axminster tools. I’d certainly NOT recommend it. It fires random blobs of black grease onto the workpiece every now and then. I’m on the process of trying to find a good quality one. When I do il post it on here. If you find one in the mean time I’d love to know which one you select.
Cheers for watching 👍🏻
I'm sooo glad it's Not a bowl, it's beautiful.
What’s wrong with bowls 🤣
