Garage Door Opener Lightbulb Won't Turn On Fixed

  • A very common issue we run across weekly is when someone replaces the garage door opener lightbulb but it doesn't turn on. Tried a bunch of bulbs and still no luck? Welcome to the club. We do have the fix however! The prong will either be corroded or pushed to far down so the light bulb doesn't get a good connection.
    We recommend the genie minimum frequency interruption lightbulb. Some lightbulbs actually mess with the signal from your remotes and sometimes you aren't able to open the door from very far. You can order that bulb here: www.garagedoor...

    What I found on two occasions with two different garage door openers, this may be overkill. It depends on the bulbs you use. The openers don’t work with the new, long lasting bulbs. I bought some of the conventional bulbs and they worked just fine.

    This worked perfect. I could hear it switching on and off but nothing happened with the bulb. This took 30 seconds and LET THERE BE LIGHT!!
    Thanks for the tip

    Thank you!!! I got tired of throwing out light bulbs thinking they were bad and I was wrong. I thought I would look on TH-cam for a possible problem/solution outside of light bulbs. This worked! The sockets were just corroded. Thank you, Thank you! I now need sunglasses in my garage there is so much light!

    One light quit working and a new one didn't work either. Inspected the socket and it looked good. After seeing the video I checked the socket with my multimeter and there was power. I unplugged the unit and bent the base tang out and the bulb works again. Thanks for the tip!

    Sweet tip! I had a bulb that seemed to have melted part of the socket where those prongs sit. So, I broke the prongs loose from that and bent them up a bit. Worked! I'm still going to replace the socket b/c I'm sure it'll happen again but I have working light in the mean time! Thanks!

      If it’s not the bulb or the socket then it’s likely blown internally on the board itself

    Additionally, after checking with meter that I had juice at the bulb housing, I thought the bulbs I was attempting to use may not have the same depth to make contact - researched further and confirmed! My older garage door unit appears to only take the old incandescence bulbs. Now I know.

    • @GarageDoorGuidance
      @GarageDoorGuidance  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve seen it before yes could be. It’s an easy solution to try just make sure it’s unplugged when you try.! ( unplug your battery also if you have the backup battery option )

    • @GarageDoorGuidance
      @GarageDoorGuidance  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jay Flowz if it isn’t that, the lightbulb or the bottom of the lightbulb. You can try changing the socket itself

    • @GarageDoorGuidance
      @GarageDoorGuidance  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All connected correctly I imagine ? If so then it’s likely a short on the logic board itself which I have seen before. Only way to fix it then is to replace the logic board unfortunately
