Some of these are hard to acquire and late game incantations. Seeing how overpowered sorcery is, even though sorcery spells are easy to acquire early game, I say incantation also needs fair amount of buff. Especially fp requirements should be reduced by alot.
I feel they need a poise skill like DS3 because of how long it takes to cast some spells and a single hit knocks you out of it but I also see that no poise serves as a counter since incantations are pretty strong.
I agree I use a bloody incantation samurai build and I feel out classed in every way when it comes to raw incantation damage vs sorcery damage its sad
incantations can heal and buff while sorcery are mostly damage based. Their needs to be some balance. If incantations were as damaging as sorcery and as fast casting, why use sorceries when you can use faith and also heal. That being said there probably should be some hyper armor somewhere in the animations, just not throughout.
@@Archimedes_Ulfur You complain but you aren’t aware of perfumes , also sorcery only has damaging spells , faith spells offer lots of healing and protection and leans more towards a defensive play style
@@FCSOWMD No complaints. I’m well aware of perfumes and endure…Overall, I just stated that skills should be a part of seals/staffs. Also, I would rather not force a heavy roll on myself just to get a cast in even if you can mitigate that with quickstep.
Fun little thing about Placidusax's Ruin is that u can cast it in mid air.
All of the named dragon spells can be cast in mid air, its pretty cool

The better version of the breaths that have a name can be used while jumping but you have to have the seal in your right hand
They aren't always better. Since they take MUCH longer to cast. I just use the basic versions more often.
It isn't realistic to get the other options off unless you are 10 feet up in the air. Lol
In my own experience, the best dragon spells are the basic breath attacks. The airborne versions all have worse range, cost more, and can't be held to continue casting, and worst of all, you can't cast them while on Horseback. Rotten Breath and Frost Breath are so powerful, pretty quick to cast if you time it right, and all the basic breaths have among the highest ranges among spells, and deal multiple ticks of damage, and very few things in the game are immune to both Rot and Frost.

Named breath attacks cost more, do more damage, wider area of effect, and can't be used on horseback.
Regular breath attacks have faster cast times, do less damage, cost less FP, can be used on horseback.
These are the only objective differences between the two unless I missed any. They both have nearly identical range and status build up.
If you can find the time to cast a named breath in PvP, it's almost always worth it for the damage boost alone. But that slower cast time can be fatal.

I would like a dragon form for this game or maybe different dragon forms for each dragon I know that imposible but if we got one at least that one can look like lansseax
It's not impossible, in fact it would be easy and I'm sure some modder will do it, the same way they did with Skyrim.
Dragon form could work like how eyes change. The last spell changes your appearance

That would be awsome, especially since Lansseax is my favorite Ancient Dragon. I can't forget going to Altus for the first time, when this huge dragon swoops down. She looks completely different from the other dragons, with her more stony look, multiple sets of wings, and lightning adorning her body. Lansseax moveset is so different from the other dragons I'd seen thus far, and when she swung that huge lightning glaive for the first time, it was so cinematic and awesome! She's definitely the coolest Ancient Dragon boss fight in terms of visual flair, not counting Placidusax of course. Another little detail I noticed is that her battle music uses the same leitmotif of Placidusax' theme, with both sharing the climactic F into G Sharp in the chorus.

Honestly, almost every dragon transformation incantation looks cool as hell, but they are so SLOW and even if you get interrupted mid-casting you still lose the fp. Most of the time bosses will interrupt them if they close the distance (the breath attacks have good enough range to be effective once or twice in the very beginning of a fight but unless you got an Ash summon with you, there's no way to land one mid-fight, Rotten Breath is by far the best to use when a boss/mini-boss is otherwise occupied or too slow to close the distance quickly) and I'm not even sure one of them grants poise, with the fact that it has miserable range I would've thought that at least Greyoll's Roar would grant poise.
Dragonclaw and dragonmaw has hyperarmor. Also there is plenty way to combine different breath. Like you can use fire buff spell and gear to enhance fire breath, or use ice breath to debuff bosses with frostbite before use nuke like glintstone breath and rotten breath.
I usually do combo such as contagious furry then dragonice then rotten breathe then dragonmaw to finish off boss.
With ashes tank then you can just use putrid corpse, they pull aggro and impossible to kill with +10 upgrade
@@Fire.and.Forget I was going to comment something similar, but yeah what you said. I went through the whole of my first playthrough with the help of the basic dragon breaths. I actually went from Int to Faith because all the sorceries needed a lot of level investment to get while Rotten Breath and Frost breath takes down most enemies and bosses quite easily.
honestly if you're using summoning ashes you'll have enough time to get off most spells
Agreed. I'm using all lightning/Ancient Dragon spells, and I tried Placidusax' Ruin and I was perplexed on how little extra poise you get when casting it. Nothing interrupts me when I use Ancient Lightning Spear weapon art for example, but the tiniest poke interrupts Placidusax' Ruin. I get not wanting it to be too powerful, but they could have given the spell more super armor so you can actually use it effectively and you're not wasting three spell slots and a ton of FP. Rotten breath is still the only Dragon Transformation I use, and as you said, it's only worth using at the beginning of the fight usually.

Heads up for fighting radahn, the rotten breath dragon incantation melts him. I got killed by radahn like 10 times in a row just now, I didn't change anything except for I tried the rotten breath and the ice breath and the combo of those 2 melted his ass I killed him the first try with those 2 dragon incantations with little sweat. I did use my great rune from Godrick, but all my other incantations were essentially useless against him and I'm running 41 or 42 faith i can't remember
I had 40 Faith and melted with lightning bolt and the glave lightning spell. Summon the people to distract and it took like 3 mins if even
Some of the breath spells can be cast while on horseback while others can't
They can't be used if the seal is on your left hand, but you can just sheath your right hand weapon to get around this

Ofcourse, but some of them you simply aren't capable of casting on horseback even when properly wielding the seal, have enough FP, and meet the stat requirements. It's the ones that allow you to cast mid air.
@@Jonathan1002887 yeah the named dragon ones. Kind of disappointing cause I spent an exceptionally long time fighting Decaying ekzykes, only to realize that his breath is more expensive and has higher requirements

@@Jonathan1002887 yes, on the bright side a lot of other dragons became a lot easier to fight compared to him
im finding that most of the named dragon spells seem to be worse than the unnamed variants. the only benefit to the named versions appear to be its use while airborne. being airborne though, messes with the trajectory and even when you aim down it seems to have less reach.
Ezykes decay has twice as much reach and almost twice the base dmg..it also lasts longer and does more dmg per second than the rot breath...
Rot breath tho can be used on a horse...as far as ive found all unnamed r able to be used on a horse....
The named all does more dmg and has more range.

Yeah, I've also found that the basic breath attacks are almost completely superior to the named breath attacks. Much higher range, lesser cost, can be held to cast more, and most importantly, you can cast them while on horseback. Most of the other dragon spells, including the lightning ones, can't be cast on horseback.

The named ones have been shown to have twice the reach and base dmg. They also can be casted for longer if u have the mana pool to hold cast.
U can see that if u pick an enemy at a distance and try to use a breath incantation... Named can hit where nameless can not. And when in the dmg zone range for both the named does more dmg...and for rot breath specifically the rot dmg lasts longer.
Only thing that beats ezykes decay with dmg and rot is the flower incantation u get by beating Melina but it has slightly less range than the rot breath takes three slots and a good chunk of FP.
Theres a bunch of experiment's done on youtube showing named is better than none named.

So are all lightning spells draconic incarnations?
Lightning spells in this game are Dragon Cult incantations, while the Dragon breaths are Dragon communion incantations. Yes there is a difference between the two. The spell descriptions will tell you which is which.

Requirements?
Which is the strongest and which is the most efficient?
It's depends on your combination of breath. You can use ice breath to apply frostbite to bosses then nuke them with dragonmaw or glintstone breath. You can't appy extra damage with fire breath though, but you can still use with fire buff. People say rotten breath is the best for the boss because they deal percent of total hp overtime so should use with tanky boss. Dragonmaw has hyperarmor and deal damage through absorption, means it ate through shield enemy or pumpkin head.
In my experience, Rot breath and Frost breath together are the best and most efficient. Carried me through most of the game. Only 1 or 2 enemies/bosses resist both. You'll need to carry more Blue flasks though because the best way to use them is just emptying your FP by holding to cast. Ensures that every enemy gets hit and procs the status. It staggers most enemies too.

Melee build is alot simpler than a magic build. Too many things to worry about. Gotta worry about distance, FP amount, HP amount, surfing through ur spells, surfing through ur summons, surfing through ur items, i just cant. Melee just worry about ur Estus Flask and health and smack that foe til ded.
Rock sling go brr the only spell you need is rock sling I beat the game with rock sling I beat ever boss with rock sling

So do the glint stone variations scale with int at all?
It's based on your seal, if you use the golden order seal it would have e good int scaling. But you still would have to invest a lot into arcane just to use the incantation

What weapon do you need in your hand to cast?
Any seal, bust the dragon communion seal us the best for dragon spells because it boosts them, it also can have S tier scaling on arcane when upgraded to +7
If you want to use the lightning dragon spells the gravel stone seal is what buffs them. Kinda upsetting they split it between two different seals instead of just one.

@@jonathanshaw7355 im just seeing this now but a quick tip, the dragon communion seal changes all your incant scaling to arcane instead of faith. Since all incantations are faith based and you have to have a faith requirement to use the spell still. If your arcane is lower than your faith (which earlier on it most likely will be) you could inadvertently be hindering your damage output. So the dragon communion seal is really only good with arcane builds.

The good ones are the basic ones and they hardly need any stats in Faith and Arcane. About 25 to 30 on both is more than enough.

I dont have all these Incantations, but I use very often the ROTTEN BREATH. All the others are just a waste of FP IMO.

You get damage numbers. They basically don't have any absorption at all so you deal total damage on most things you use on them

@@Joseph-by6pv I have played the game. The dragon communion seal does not buff the lightning magic, meaning it is not by definition dragon magic. The prayer book you get it from is called the dragon prayer book or something but it isn’t dragon magic
@@e4rio Dragon Cult Incantations (the lightning ones) are buffed by the Gravel Stone Seal, which is a literal dragon scale. There are two types of "dragon magic" in this game.
@@e4rio if they have ancient dragon in the name, and the book also has dragon in the name, sounds like it’s dragon magic regardless of what you want to believe especially when the dragons use it in game
