My late Dad had one when we were kids in Leeds, so late 1960's, early '70's, on a then 'B' reg, same colour. It was the first car I remember him having and he loved it, I always remember it.
Always loved these cars since my mother pointed out the unusual lights at the back when I was a kid. My heart was in my mouth when I watched you reverse into that shed. Think I would have ended up crashing through the other side lol!
Wow, exactly the same as my very first car, 2 door GT in sunset red. Remember paying £175 for the car and 1 years insurance was £180, as I was 18yrs old at the time then saved up for a set of cobra superslot wheels ( couldn't afford wolve race wheels at the time ) as these were all the rage back in the 70s . Im 60yrs old now, but great to see a mk1 almost identical to mine. Big thanks for the video got a big smile on my face today.
Nice to see .yes even reversing back into the wooden garage I didn't want to go through the rear sheet of asbestos that was me 50 years ago. I loved the Cortina it never let me down . But I pranged it up the back of a cow and wrote it off .you could pick them up for a few hundred quid then . They felt powerfull and could go but not by modern standards. I thought anything that could do 0- 60 in less than 10 seconds was fast these days they cut that in half . Yes part of my history . I've a Audi TT now .I'd say it is similar in some ways . It goes well .didn't cost me a fortune and on country roads I don't fly, cos you don't know what's over the next rise. That's one thing I learned . I can't see it being worth 20k in the future either
A friend had his written off in 1972,I bought the engine for £5,put it in my 105e Anglia, went like snot off a stick,37 bhp to 78,...... but scoffed fuel!
Car looks stunning! & in 2 door guise MK 1 GT's are fabulous! but why would anyone run a performance classic saloon on inferior ( sometimes lethal! ) cross ply tyres? all for the sake of purity? no thank you not when there are plenty of period style good radials available.

I love two door mk1 GT's. They look great. Yes, the Lotus is a great car but beyond most people's pockets now.
My father had a mk2 lotus cortina, happy to say it's numbered among the survivors, great car and better memories of my youth

Precioso auto, igual al de mi papá!
Beautiful car and video👍
My wife could back that in there for you if you're still struggling 😉
beuatiful!!
The 4 door was more expensive and only the poorer family's had 2 doors, the Lotus was of course a different matter.
Got the wrong grill on though that is a lotus grill the gt only had black around the outside of the vents
One fault. The steringwheel is on the wrong side.
Got the wrong grill on it, think that a lotus grill
I hope you enjoyed the video!
