I know people disregard Pintos, but with the motor work I did and the Granada 8.8 rear end with a 4:11 limited slip/posi, I embarrassed many, many takers. Had to learn to use the power & rear end, AND not destroy my transmission, of which I did.. My home made solid motor mounts were wild, but tore up the engine bay. In the beginning, I lost some races to smoking my tires at the line while they moved out. After a while, I had it down where guys from far reaches of L.A. came to get me, but once I shifted into 2nd gear, their lead immediately disappeared. It was fun to have a far reaching reputation, but after a while, I'd drive out in my old junkyard '68 Euro spec Mercedes 300SEL, slam down my beach chair and just watch the action. I'm talking about the old school days up at Dodger Stadium in from of the Naval Academy parking lot. It eventually got ugly. Too many ugly wrecks and violence, police shut downs, etc... and I got older & moved on.
Nothing wrong with a well tuned pinto on Webber carbs Andy and Ron Harris will agree (hpe) rest his soul he ran nines in his red legendary MK1 I'm sure MK1 Kieran will agree too
@@brettreeves452 I had 4, 38mm Mikunis tapped into my intake from Pintos LTD. Try syncing those together along with a vacuum operated distributor?! Even modified to stabilize the plate, it was always an exercise in trying to establish success. I had one of his adjustable cam sprockets which were great, but I was still learning. They eventually evolved into more Pantera focused business that I just had their name in my head, but instantly forgot. In La Habra, California out of the guy's garage.

REG WAS YOY 223G one owner metallic dark green original color, When i had it) and even though it didn't need much work on the body its was mint underneath not one panel replace either, the car had been sat in a garage for years, also it only had I think 35k original miles on the clock, but the guy I got it off said he only brought it for the engine off this family because the old guy he knew whom had died, the engine was for an escort mexico , what a shame) so I put another fully rebuilt engine in it. then got disqualified from driving for life, let my bother have it and the muppet exchanged it for a immaculate granada mk2 20L the numpty. it really was the best original 16E I have ever seen.
Like watching car chase from sweeney I only wish I could smell the fumes .....old fords dont die they get us fools to weld them up lol keep real guys well done 👍🥰😉☘🇮🇪
Its this kind of PRATTISH behaviour that gets car meets BANNED or cancelled and before you start calling me a miserable old git i own a 66 mk1 and have gone go to meets until some twat gets it STOPPED and screwed it up for every one else
Mk 1 2 and 3’s are all great in their own individual ways, they all have really pretty body shapes and and great lines that are timeless and will forever be cool, especially when in tasteful period colours and with period wheels, some really stunning cars here, I have the white 2dr mk 1 on you tube (video under my name) I’ve gone for the de badged, de bumpered look but my wheels/tires need to be thinner, they stick out a tad, what does anyone recommend ?
