When my ex wife died from the ravages of melanoma there was nothing left of her. The embalmer made her look so good and that's how my kids remember their mom. These people are truly a blessing. Thank you
@cerulean Konie...My Dad was making $150,000 a year before he retired. It's not about the money though. If I went into it, I'd make barely $40k a year. My Dad would do so many funerals a year at no charge or help people out anyway possible. He ran these funeral homes, but did right by the families. How can you overcharge someone when they are grieving? Most in the business HATE the financial aspect. I work in an ER & hate asking for copays! I grew up in the business. It's not as bad as you all think! Directors will work with you. My Dad did so many pro bono...he was pushed to retire.
When my dad passed, he looked 98, he was actually 78. When the funeral home was finished, he looked like he was 50. It was an amazing comfort. He didn't look sick, in agony, scared. Amazing people
The opposite happened to me. Last week my dad died and he died at 47 his bday is actually been today. He died looking his age and the mortician somehow made him look older and wider in the face something was wrong with his nose too. It’s was a difficult experience

What a strong beautiful woman. I had a stillborn son, my family spent 24 hours w his body then the mortician took him. She had her baby mortuary in her home. It was such a lovely place we dropped off his clothing. She sang to him while she dressed him. Everything was done so kind and beautifully. Takes a special person.
My grandma passed on a week ago today. I took care of her hair,makeup,and nails. I didn’t want a stranger getting her ready. Never done it before on someone who passed on but I was told by family that she looked really good. I felt good also taking care of her. She took care of me in life so in death I took care of her.

My mom looked so beautiful in her casket. I wanted to take a photo but didn't for fear of judgment. I regretted that for a while, but don't now because I remember so much more of her than just that day of deep pain. I have to say I adore your retro style as it suits you very well. You are a credit to your profession.
I am 4th generation funeral home worker and my grandfather used to say this all the time. Personally, I've never had an issue with a dead guy. A living one? All the time
I agree with you and I believe it. The dead are innocuous. I am more afraid of the living people who can hurt, harm, even kill, especially when they do not possess of the love of Jesus Christ in their hearts. As a teenager, I have seen corpses in the funeral home, even in the preparation room. The dead were not so scary as some of the living people walking around.
I wanted to become a mortician since I was a teenager, but I ended up going into nursing instead (secondary to life events which would take too long to explain). After nursing for almost 20 years, I’m feeling so burned out and seriously considering a career change. I think it’s time for me to go back to school and follow my true calling! Bravo to this lovely lady, and bravo to the maker of this short video. It was VERY well done. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I remembered I went to the cashier to sign some signature for my cousin's burial and then the cashier told me that "oh tha one that EXPIRED?" i was so freaaaking mad and I literally slap the cashier lop
I really loved to watch this lady. What I do appreciate the most is her attitude while doing her job: her look is really awesome, she enjoys her own look, she is really committed, humble and nice. These is really rare to find not only in morticians but people in general.
Lost my father on March 28th. He was 97 years old. He looked like he was sleeping. They did a good job. He was wearing a Italian Suit. RIP Francesco Licata. You are with Mommy now. God Bless.
Your community is extremely fortunate to have someone with your temperament , aptitude and compassion to assist them in their time of loss. Hope others in the industry can emulate you and recognize that that they need to be pillars of support during a family’s difficult grieving period. It’s a job that few of us can do .

A family friend recently took his life by gunshot. The family wanted to have a viewing and I was COMPLETELY against this, doing everything I could to explain that this is the last image in their minds they will have of him and it will not be pretty. They went ahead with the viewing and I could NOT believe how well the funeral home was able to make him look just fine. There was a small scar across one portion of his head, but that was it. They went into complete detail filling the missing bone and areas of his skull, adding fake hair that matched his, and making him completely presentable. In the end, I was very happy the family went ahead with the viewing. They received the closure they needed and I am at awe at the work these morticians do.
I saw a similar case like this of Ronnie Mcnutt. Hope everyone is doing well in the family, it must be hard for everyone right now. RIP to your family friend and also, may his family be okay☮️☮️☮️

I was creeped out until the end when she said she'd be there to comfort your loved one. Then I realized she really views these bodies as the souls they were when they lived and cares for them until they are finally put to rest. That's really sweet and caring
Most of them could be actors, they are so professional, well spoken, and dress nicely. It seems like they have a better view on life than someone who doesn't work with people who have passed.

I retired from the funeral industry after 28 years and young lady you spoke well and defined it well. It really takes compassion to work in this job. I had an old funeral director tell me one time to understand the family's position. He said they are in a building they don't want to be in and buying something they don't want and when they are done they have nothing to show and they are doing this while grieving. If you understand that, you will be fine.
The one thing I don't understand about all of this, is the caskets. I always seen caskets with full lids, not this half lid stuff. Whare in the heck did that come from, and when did that get started?

I think it's the nature of the job u won't know what kind of extra family member will show up at the funeral you wanna be as professional or traditional as you can without looking too much dollar sign involved. Kinda like dignity and respect all mixed together in a politically correct package and vintage is the way to go

Agree and someone has to do this work! Even though the person is deceased and presumably cannot feel any more pain, I like to believe that having a calm compassionate person work on their body, will be a nice gesture.

She is an inspiration 💗 I love that she doesn't sacrifice her personality or style to "fit in" with the grumps in the field. Sometimes I find myself questioning why I chose this career path and remember that I have the opportunity to help people in a unique way like she does. It's a priviledge to work with the deceased and an honour when a family entrust you with their loved one and funeral arrangements. Just gotta remember that when I'm taking my chemistry and accounting test next week.

I don't know if you have finished school yet or not, by the time you read this. Just know that you are doing something EXTREMELY important and can help people manage the worst moments of their lives. I lost my mom 8 months ago and had to make the funeral arrangements. The funeral home and funeral director truly made the process easier for me and allowed me to cherish her life, rather than be consumed by my loss. They were an integral part in my healing and YOU WILL BE TOO for some other families.
My dad passed away due to a bad accident last year and I really appreciate the work they do to make them look like everything is okay. He had cuts on his face but you’d never know. I respect those who do this work, and how they make the last time families see there loved ones not as scary.

I remembered I went to the cashier to sign some signature for my cousin's burial and then the cashier told me that "oh tha one that EXPIRED?" i was so freaaaking mad and I literally slap the cashier lop
I really loved to watch this lady. What I do appreciate the most is her attitude while doing her job: her look is really awesome, she enjoys her own look, she is really committed, humble and nice. These is really rare to find not only in morticians but people in general.

A family friend recently took his life by gunshot. The family wanted to have a viewing and I was COMPLETELY against this, doing everything I could to explain that this is the last image in their minds they will have of him and it will not be pretty.
They went ahead with the viewing and I could NOT believe how well the funeral home was able to make him look just fine. There was a small scar across one portion of his head, but that was it. They went into complete detail filling the missing bone and areas of his skull, adding fake hair that matched his, and making him completely presentable.
In the end, I was very happy the family went ahead with the viewing. They received the closure they needed and I am at awe at the work these morticians do.
I saw a similar case like this of Ronnie Mcnutt. Hope everyone is doing well in the family, it must be hard for everyone right now.

I guess if that gunshot would've been from shotgun, filling missing bones unfurtunetly would be much, much more problematic. Anyway...from my perspectice it matters how person lived his life, not how pretty he is in a coffin on a funeral.

I retired from the funeral industry after 28 years and young lady you spoke well and defined it well. It really takes compassion to work in this job. I had an old funeral director tell me one time to understand the family's position. He said they are in a building they don't want to be in and buying something they don't want and when they are done they have nothing to show and they are doing this while grieving. If you understand that, you will be fine.
The one thing I don't understand about all of this, is the caskets. I always seen caskets with full lids, not this half lid stuff. Whare in the heck did that come from, and when did that get started?

I think it's the nature of the job u won't know what kind of extra family member will show up at the funeral you wanna be as professional or traditional as you can without looking too much dollar sign involved. Kinda like dignity and respect all mixed together in a politically correct package and vintage is the way to go

I worked in a mortuary, this brings back memories. Most people will benefit from being exposed to end of life matters. We are so alienated from death in our modern culture.

Wonderful, authentic, informative presentation. This young lady is so cool. I love her realistic and mature way of viewing things and especially how she sees the art in her work. My mother always taught me that "death is a part of life." I love that Miranda is living her own life in a way that celebrates her unique vintage style and that she is soft, sweet and gracious. She is an inspiration 💗 I love that she doesn't sacrifice her personality or style to "fit in" with the grumps in the field. Sometimes I find myself questioning why I chose this career path and remember that I have the opportunity to help people in a unique way like she does. It's a priviledge to work with the deceased and an honour when a family entrust you with their loved one and funeral arrangements.

I lost my mom 8 months ago and had to make the funeral arrangements. The funeral home and funeral director truly made the process easier for me and allowed me to cherish her life, rather than be consumed by my loss. They were an integral part in my healing and YOU WILL BE TOO for some other families.
