Kitana’s fatality worked so well on Batman because DC never lets him keep a love interest, so he just explodes at the notion of affection

Yeah, most of those heroic brutalities would be more lethal than some fatalities. Also if Batman does not provide veterinary care for all bats in Gotham there is good chance he is giving his opponent rabies during his "heroic brutality"

The best part of Deathstroke's Fatality was that Batman still blinked, so he isn't even truly dead!

A lot of these "Heroic Brutalities" could've easily become a Fatality.
Greatest example Is Green Lantern's.

Hal neglected to check to see if his opponent was writhing in pain or not.
You don't always need gore for great finishers, just creative moves which these don't have

Kitana's Kiss of Death and Jax's clap are great even in this game because these are very funny.
As you said, you don't always need gore for great finishers, the Fatalities in MKvsDC could have worked if the developers decided to use Looney Tunes logic.

Liu kang was the only fatality I would call unironically good. The arcade one gets a pass because it's just nostalgia baiting.
The baraka stab on the ground is brutal even with little blood

Batman's heroic brutality where he uses his grapple hook was reimplemented as his throw in Injustice 2.
I think this game has great costumes for Liu Kang, Kitana, Sonya and Scorpion.
And yes, Kitana's Kiss of Death and Jax's clap are the best fatalities in this game

I just thought of something;
Imagine if Kano's flip & stomp "Fatality" had him deploy foot knives kinda like he has in MK11, then he would stab them into the opponent's stomach and then stomp on their chest with them. It would've at least made sense for them to die from that.

I think "heroic brutalities" can come back for some good guy characters in MK, like liu kang, in a style like a satisfying mma punch or kick that knocks the opponent clean out (and obviously without death)

The worst example is Johnny Cage.
As much as people despise MK VS. DC finishers..
I could say at the least, Scorpion's & Sub-Zero 2 finishers stayed true to their characters and still have lethality, and Kitana's kiss of death was better than MK3 & 4's versions. I tend to prefer her finishers to inflate the opponents not stretch em out. Probably a reason why Rain's Bubble Burst works as an alternative since inflate effects on the opponent actually takes effort to do.
Deathstroke’s first fatality is actually how he killed his own son in the comics: a stab to the gut and a bullet to the head.

Comic fan here. For anyone confused, yes, Shazam was originally called Captain Marvel. He was created by Fawcett Comics, and was given that name before Marvel made a character with the same name. His book was also a really good competitor for Superman’s book. Eventually, DC bought the character, and kept the name for a long time. I don’t remember when, or exactly why. I heard it was a type of legal dispute, but DC changed his name to Shazam and Marvel has the rights for the Captain Marvel name.
I thought they changed because they didn't want one of their characters to be associated with the Marvel Comics, it was basically free advertising. And I always thought the name Shazam would be better for him than for a wizard we barely see.
@@juarezamorim I mean that may have been another reason but I doubt it, and honestly I don’t 100% know, but I’m pretty sure it was a legal dispute. As for his name being Shazam now, I mean yeah, it’s cool. Not really sure if I have a preference for one or the other. I’m a sucker for classics, but at the same time Shazam is a cool name as well

It's about as visually impressive as the rest of the Failtalities; the opponent just kinda falls backward. No violent "faceless" shot; MK9 is alone in this.

I think the fatalities in this game are underrated because “durr no blood”. Sure there’s some bad ones but some are pretty decent imo. Both of Scorpion’s and Sub-Zero’s are good. Raiden’s electrocution 3 I think it’s called is good. Sonya’s flame kiss is a good klassic. Kitana’s kiss of death is…the kiss of death. Actually one of the funnier ones. Shang’s got a good one. And I like Baraka’s one where he punctures the lungs. And I like Jax’s head clap. The arcade drop is a nice choice for a game like this. The DC characters all got bad ones maybe except Joker’s which is ok. Definitely not good enough to be repeated for Shang in MK9. The heroic brutalities are fine for what they are. I like both of Wonder Woman’s. The tornado one Flash has is good. And Green Lantern has the best ones. They can honestly be fatalities lol. I think the orb one leaves the opponent still which is unusual for a heroic brutality. MKvsDC is not a bad game imo. It was fun to me. Just a goofy crossover title. Not as polished as other games but it’s fine for what it is. Maybe I’m not as hard on it because I don’t see it as a mainline entry, I don’t care if it’s technically considered MK8 and no Kronika nonsense. Anyone coming here to say that stupidness just stop right now and go away 😆
The reason it worked well for Joker and not Shang Tsung is because it really shows off Joker's character very well.

These finishers would be better if they were like the super moves in the Injustice games; over the top in a comic book sense. Because as is, it's crazy that Superman's heroic brutalities look more lethal than KANO'S fatalities!

I can see them pulling it off with Reptile. For example, he could spit large chunk of acid at opponents which turns them into skeletons. For second one, he could create acid pool (like in MKX) and throw his opponent in which immediately disintegrates them. For Skarlet, though... Thank Raiden that she wasn't a thing at the time this game came out.

This is pretty much the core reason I felt this crossover was the dumbest fucking idea ever. I was convinced Midway's think tank for fatalities dried up in MK3 when Cyrax blew up the world with his bombs.
I think they should give Green Lantern's bubble crush finisher to Rain and improve upon it, like what they did with Joker's gun fatality.
