Well, it's a crossover fighting game, Warner Bros didn't want to see the DC characters harmed here in this game, so these fatalities and Heroic Brutalities are we got here.
The inconsistent censorship decisions and how much force is needed to kill someone is enough to make this game an even bigger question mark on the franchise than mk4
For the DC hero characters, it is really ironic, because in the original comics themselves, they had done actual fatalities just as gruesome as the real Mortal Kombat games.
Hopefully since MK is owned by Warner Bros, that we will see some DC DLC characters in MK1 like how we saw Joker in Mk11. Imagine Homelander vs Superman...
5:41 - Kano jumps on a guy and they die. 7:23 - Superman pounds a guy into the ground like a tent spike, or freezes a guy solid, drops him from a height, and THEN jumps on him... and they survive. Heroic brutality my butt.
Maybe not the best fatalities, but it was my introduction to Mortal Kombat. This game is how my father and I got along together more. Good memories of playing with my dad both this game and later Mortal Kombat 9.

Yeah, but because of the DC Comics license (and the fact this was long before DC allowed their more mainstream heroes to have R-rated movies and M-rated games), the DC Heroes get Heroic Brutalities (because they refuse to kill) and the MK characters and DC villains get toned down Fatalities (some being toned-down versions of classic MK moves, others being lame moves that don't look fatal, like Kano's fatalities).
MK vs DC: *Shows stabbing through the chest, neck snaps, and other lethal, bloody attacks.* Also MK vs DC: “We can’t show this guy getting shot in the head, that’s too graphic!”
Y'know, Lex's fatals are actually pretty solid. Turning the opponent's torso around 180° and a barrage of missiles is pretty in-character and pretty brutal for him.

Superman at least knowns how to control his strength. Kano got the short end in this game due to his Fatalities being mostly ripping out hearts and other internal organs (and in MK3, he can rip an entire skeleton out).

These “fatalities” are Super Weenie Hut Jr’s compared to the other MK games, & somehow the “Heroic Brutalities” are more violent than the standard fatalities.
They wanted to do a Mortal Kombat for Kids/Adolescents, that's why it's fatalities and brutalities are so "soft" compared to other MK's. I honestly think that if they would have done a game with the normal Mortal Kombat standars, it would be a hell of a game.

That is true. Plus, if not for this game, Warner Bros. would not have bought Midway Chicago and made them into Netherrealm Studios, and as a result, we would never get Mortal Kombat 2011, which was the return to form for the franchise.
i hope they do something like these in injustice 3. like heroic brutalities for heroes, and overkill finishers for villains/antiheroes. like a lot of these would be cool if they were so short and anticlimactic. like you should have requirements like mk brutalities, and if you fulfill those then your final moves results in a heroic brutality/overkill finisher. i think wonder woman’s could be cool, like she beats you up a bit, whips you with the rope a few times then spins you midair with it before slamming you down. i could also imagine harley shooting you a bit, then bashing you with the bat a few times showing her unhinged side, then ending with an explosion. i think they could be like (an) extra super move(s) mixed with the finality and power of an outro.
I love the fact that you can clearly see Batman is still blinking after he's "dead" in some of the fatalities, most noticable in Deathstroke's 2nd one.
For what it’s worth, some of these aren’t all that bad, at least in concept. I could definitely see some level of potential if this game was Rated M. Especially that Lui Kang one with the bicycle kick. That one should be remade.

Doing something this violent? Overboarding every fatality to ever touch this franchise? Even in recent installments, MKX, 11, 1, I will never believe that they could REPLICATE, the history this fatality has put in millions.

I know, I know its a crappy game and not bloody and gory enough, but you have to figure, as a child growing up there was nothing like playing as DC characters and a bunch of others.
That is true. Plus, if not for this game, Warner Bros. would not have bought Midway Chicago and made them into Netherrealm Studios, and as a result, we would never get Mortal Kombat 2011, which was the return to form for the franchise.

Batman's 2nd brutality is an ordinary grab in Injustice 2...
i hope they do something like these in injustice 3. like heroic brutalities for heroes, and overkill finishers for villains/antiheroes. like a lot of these would be cool if they were so short and anticlimactic. like you should have requirements like mk brutalities, and if you fulfill those then your final moves results in a heroic brutality/overkill finisher. i think wonder woman’s could be cool, like she beats you up a bit, whips you with the rope a few times then spins you midair with it before slamming you down. i could also imagine harley shooting you a bit, then bashing you with the bat a few times showing her unhinged side, then ending with an explosion. i think they could be like (an) extra super move(s) mixed with the finality and power of an outro.
I love the fact that you can clearly see Batman is still blinking after he's "dead" in some of the fatalities, most noticable in Deathstroke's 2nd one.

For what it’s worth, some of these aren’t all that bad, at least in concept. I could definitely see some level of potential if this game was Rated M. Especially that Lui Kang one with the bicycle kick. That one should be remade.
