      You are most welcome!
In fact, there are quite a number of teachers who preserve practical, real-life fighting skills in China - only most of these are very private, and teach only a handful of students.
Consequently, they are not very well known, if at all.

Only way to know if its practical is to try it out in sparring match with someone thats actually trying to hit you

      That is absolutely true!!!
Although, one might argue that maybe a friendly sparring match is not the most accurate test.
The best test to see if something works or not is to test it under the exact conditions and the environment it is supposed to be functional in.
Some things are not meant for “sparring matches”.
At the end of the day it is no secret that if one wants to develop practical skills, one most train in the environment and at the intensity level which matches the situation in which something is supposed to be used, i.e. as close to reality as possible.
No practical-minded martial artist does not understand this.

It's certainly not practical as a combat sport. It's practical for elderly people to do as a form of exersize. There is absolutely no argument supporting practical application of Wing Chun in a combat setting.

It still puts you ahead of an untrained criminal trying to assault you, but there are much better options for self defense out there.

Everybody has an opinion formed on their own personal knowledge, understanding, skill and exposure to something.
      We appreciate you sharing yours.
