    It's good hardware and priced accordingly. My biggest gripe is the outrageously priced keyboard/pen combo! $450 USD!!! YIKES!

    By default, HDR is effectively disabled even if you enable it; you need to turn off all auto brightness settings, turn off a power saving setting that silently disables HDR when on battery, and run the HDR calibration tool.

    I've been happily using a Yoga laptop for years plus my Surface Pro 8 for travel has been fine. But frankly my Galaxy tablet tends to be more than adequate as a travel companion for email, surfing, and streaming now that I'm retired. Thx for the review.

    As always, great review. Hit the key notes, note the issues and wrap up with great, balanced evaluation. I have both the SP 11 and the latest iPad Pro and, while I love the iPad pencil, I actually find the Surface Pro Pen easier and better to use. You say potato, I say … . The t-shirts alone are worth subscribing. The awesome reviews are the cherry on top. Thanks so much.

    Tried it out for one day and Lightroom lagged! It all depends on the file sizes and resolution of your camera. I have 61 megapixels and files are around 80mb big. Heavy delays when dragging the sliders. Might be easier for smaller files.
    Surface Pro 11 is great for surfing the web and Netflix. On the other hand, why would anyone waste so much money for that?

    Hello! Subscribed in 2013 and have loved all your videos! You are one of my favourite tech TH-camrs! My PC monitor is a 42" LG 4K OLED, and when you zoomed in on the screen, I could see the digitizer screen door effect. So, yea, it's there. I would need to see it in person, to really know if it's something that would be too distracting to want to purchase. I hope you get the ASUS ProArt PZ13, when it becomes available. I would like to see a comparison :)

    • @mobiletechreview
      @mobiletechreview  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Be mindful that you're not looking at the display directly in person. Cameras introduce moire patterns as do video compression twice over (export compression and then TH-cam compression) alter what you're seeing. Best to check one out in person.

      I'm looking for a tablet to use solely for illustration and browser based web design. I'm a Windows and Android user and I generally loathe Apple. I tested both devices today at the mall, having never used a Surface or iPad before.
      Unfortunately, I have to tip my hat to Apple; I felt that the iPad Pro screen is extremely impressive, particularly the etched glass version. I noticed the digitizer on the Surface straight away. The Apple Pen and keyboard also feel like they're much higher quality.
      I was all set to purchase the Surface 11, but now I'm utterly conflicted.

    I used one in Best Buy and noticed the digitizer immediately. For $1,400 I don’t want to see it lol. It’s not visible on Apple tablets, nor on Samsung OLED tablets. Microsoft should have done better. It impacts the clarity of the screen especially on lighter color images.

  • @mcvccr15
    @mcvccr15 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I bought the 11 OLED after watching this review and many others. Slick hardware overall, but I have to agree with the concerns regarding the screen, and being able to see the digitizer layer or some sort of other screening effect that makes anything with a white or off-white background look muddy. I also have the Lenovo Slim 7x which has an OLED and an iPad Pro OLED, and I do not get nearly the same effect with either of those. I wonder if the issue only affects some Pro 11 OLED units? I'm going to reach out to Microsoft, but imagine I may end up returning it because I find it so distracting if they don't offer a replacement.

    Hi Lisa. I watched part of your video three times, and then I double-checked on the Surface website to make sure. I want to ask you about the Surface Connect port. In your B-roll, it shows the power cord connecting to the Surface Connect port, and the location is just above the middle of the right side of the display. My question is, did you find this to be annoying, or get in the way, when it's just used for power supply? Second question, when you have a dock connected to the port, then you're more firmly anchored to your desk, and you need the cord plugged in to stay connected to storage drives or other things, you can still move the screen to different angles, but does it start to get in your line of sight and be annoying? Wouldn't it be better to have the port at the bottom edge of one side of the screen (in landscape)? (Compare this to the iPad with the Apple keyboard case, you can plug in to power and docks using the USB C port in the hinge of the keyboard rather than the USB C port on the edge of the display). :: Yes I know I'm being OCD about this, but did you find the cord getting in the way or the cord being visually distracting while using the screen? Thanks for your help! :)

    Nice honest review. I bought the elite version as my Samsung S9 Ultra is just too big. I'm struggling with the OLED display on The Surface Pro...There is absolutely an issue with the screen door effect. Once you see it you can't unsee it. The whole display looks grainy and can be demonstrated side by side with another OLED device such as the Tab S9 Ultra. You must not have the best new glasses or a there are different screens 😀 Battery life is a welcome improvement.

      Yes, when displaying white or bright content compared to LCD. OLED uses less power than LCD only when displaying black or dark content because the individual pixels are dimmed or turned off (each OLED pixel generates their own light, unlike LCD that has a separate backlight array).

    • @williammaverick
      @williammaverick 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@peterthepanda The difference in their power consumption between bright and dark colors is even disproportional as OLED consumes far more with bright colors and only a little less with dark ones compared to LCD. Cause going with a non-Windows OS while still using the same apps & going to the same websites will be any different huh. You really think Facebook, Google, Walmart & Amazon don't spy on you and track everything on your PC? Boy, you're in for a surprise.

      I think it's way overblown. Every tech companies track your activities in manner that you aren't aware of, but only one succeeded in making everyone believe they don't track you at all.

    As impressive as all of this may be, the Surface Pro still has one huge bottleneck, the pen. It's such a let down. Perhaps Microsoft should start considering dropping it's own pen protocol in favor of something better.

    32GB of RAM available on the top end SKU. The enshittification of tech continues.

      Ah yes, the good old days - when all tablets had 64 gigs or more. We truly had it all. Personally, I blame capitalism.

      @DouglasRosser 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@Kylehudgins This isn't a "tablet" running a phone OS it's an actual computer. The laptop I bought for my kid to use in high school had 16GB of RAM. She's 26 now.

    • @xBINARYGODx
      @xBINARYGODx 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      32gb on the top end is not enshitifcation - for that vast majority of pc users, including gamers, 32 is great - if you need more, you don't get this or something like it, you get a workbook like thing, or rather, a thinkpad or a thinkpad competitor.
      most prebuilt PC's dont even have a 64gb options yet.
      so really, your complaining just to whine.

      @@Kylehudgins That you consider this statement a cogent opinion indicates that it really isn't and you should find a close friend to be your "tech person" when you feel like dropping money on stuff like this.

    Microsoft went all the way and developed an OS specific to ARM, but refuses to ditch the proprietary connector for USB-C. This is beyond aggravating. Microsoft is clearly trying to nickel and dime people.
