may I ask, why you definitely need to compare with android and ios? i am a senior sw engineer and I don't see the reason for the comparison other than perhaps political?
1:30 Dude, that's not a down grade but an upgrade. I'd take this solution any day over these stupid in display ones. I can unlock my old Note 9 faster than a S24U. No more questions about this "advance".
how about the sound/speakers? from my personal experience of using Huawei for more than a decade, their speaker volume is always much softer than other brands
This might be the first proper English review of this phone series. Just a question: Does it cone with Harmony OS 4.3 ( which is just Android fork ) or Harmony OS next ( which is native Huawei OS ) ? There are lots of conflicting reports regarding this, some place, it shows 4.3 & some place Harmony OS next
I have been a Huawei user since the Mate 9 era to mate x3 and i just moved to Honor ecosystem with the V3.. In the last few years Huawei Focus is on the Chinese Market, My Chinese version of Huawei phones offer way longer update support and much better experience than the global ones. I strongly Advise to move out, cause that focus on the Chinese market is growing bigger and bigger..
Incidentally, my wife and my Mate 9 are still working fine and we are using it as the backup phone. The rubber behind the buttons need replacement otherwise, its in good condition.
Yesterday I was surprised by someone in a shop in Guediawaye using a phone with HarmonyOS he let me try it, it's smooth and l think the operating system can gain a lot of popularity in Sénégal
I just hope Huawei's HarmonyOS NEXT don't suffer the same fate as Windows Phone. We can't forever live in Android-iOS duopoly. We used to have exciting competition back then.
If Huawei will support at least (4) major updates like competitors, I might consider buying a Mate 80 Pro next year, with at least 5 nano processor architecture. otherwise, i will get the new Honor magic 8 pro with full support of GMS.
I see some reviews in douyin, the video quality, the smoothness of the OS superb. I hope this OS will be released globally, kinda bored with iOS and android with other variations of skins
I wonder why they don't price their phones abit lower to be an affordable flagship and try and regain the market share that they lost from a few years ago?? Especially when they're trying to introduce a whole new OS that's different from Android, you would think they would try and sell more devices so that more people adopt their new OS and help it grow faster?
It's quite simple actually, they can''t afford to lower the prices since they are not producing at the mass production volume, since the ban happened. The less phones you make, the more expensive they tend to get. That's economy 101.
A processor that is almost 5 years behind the competition, not really the best in photo-video, a software that is almost unusable outside China 🇨🇳 and even in China, but people should put as much money 💵 if not more in this Huawei than in other ultra-high-end smartphones, why, because it's a "Huawei", 😮💨 It's good that Huawei has a super self-esteem, but seriously, at some point, the joke has to stop 🤧 🚶🏽♂️ 🚶🏽♂️ 🚶🏽♂️
If all my apps can be installed on Huawei, this will be the only phone brand I will use. Huawei is the best brand I have used bar none. I have used before Motorolla, Alcatel, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Iphone, Nokia, Xiao Mi etc. Shame on the US for banning Huawei based on lies because US is losing out on the IPs and Setting the standard.
After new ZTE this week most beautiful, but both have software Issues, ZTE upgrade mostly not trust out of China, this one real Android issues sadly out of China... Oh
Think again. I don't think the game industries can keep up with chipset anyways. and you would be fooled by the media to think Huawei still using "7nm".
The problem with Huawei is that there is no money in it for them to sell outside China due to the reluctance of consumers to buy an OS apart from Android or iOS and, of course, the US ban. So, Huawei phones are meaningless in the UK, and at the moment, it appears that Huawei has stopped selling them here. No phones in their online store. Rumours are that we have also seen the last Huawei laptop, so despite the praise from some claiming how well they have done, the truth is that it was and remains a disaster for them, with more China sanctions likely than not. Therefore, it is impossible to recommend this phone, which is sad, as I was a Huawei superfan before the ban.
Who cares about the UK economy, which is the size of the entire population of Shanghai 😂😂. The importance of UK ,which is in steep DECOMPOSITION has since been thrown to the dogs 😂😂 Let POWERFUL AND SOPHISTICATED CHINA RISE,NOW
the REAL problem is Huawei don't even need to sell in UK because they can't even keep up with their domestic demand LOL......how many units can UK with it's puny population buy hahaha
In my experience, if a phone gets over 500,000 in Antutu, it has plenty of performance for everyday use as long as the software is implemented well.
Well Harmony OS NEXT is the most optimized OS on the market right now. The performance is top notch.
But it needs to be performing well in games like 120 fps on highest settings codm

Because Huawei supplies two visions, you can choose OS when you place orders on the Huawei website.
You can choose which one you want. This phone is clearly a transitional phone and next one is probably gonna be OS Next only.
the HUAWEI mobile CEO 余承东 said the next year launch mobile only harmonyos next
I am huge fan of Huawei since 2016 and I understood why it got banned.
Of course. Because Huawei would've been the biggest in the market
It's no a downgrade haha. Its an upgrade. Side mounted fingerprint is the best.

They should not do a global launch untill they have at least 500k apps IMO. Their main priority should be just more apps.

Aren't they still selling millions of phones a year? How much more do they need to reach economics of scale?
They can't even keep up domestic demand so why should they lower the price? Regain market share? are you still living inside a cave?
It's their protection for low-end mobile phones in the domestic market

Huawei should just make Honor their flagship, or make an honor device that is of flagship level.
