@@georgemeyers7172 Assuming it works like Undertale, damage is increased when the person is pushing their own feelings away, which Susie is doing a lot because she really likes Lancer but feels betrayed. Similarly the more in touch with their feelings someone is the more damage they take. Lancer at the moment is full of love for both his Dad and for his friends, so takes a heck of a lot of damage. Alternatively, if we're going by non-undertale rules then he's also just standing there and not defending himself at all. So Susie is landing perfect hits that would do more damage. Or maybe it's a representation of emotional damage too. I doubt lancer could actually take thousands of points of damage and still be standing. So maybe it represents the pain he feels emotionally for having betrayed Susie and having their friendship tearing apart.
Because Jevil didn't become her new best friend, only to end up stabbing her in the back. She's way more upset with Lancer. It was the moment where she felt as though everything she had achieved in the Dark World up to that point had all been worthless, and that everyone around her still viewed her as nothing more than a rabid, angry monster.
You know in an RPG when a party member serves as a boss and suddenly their stats are astronomically higher than they normally are? Going from 2000 HP to 50,000 HP, and suddenly having immunity to things that normally shut them down hard, etc? Lancer isn't Susie's boss fight. Susie is Lancer's boss fight. Just like in Undertale Genocide when the first gameplay roadbump has a theme seemingly too epic for it; SHE'S not YOUR boss fight, YOU are HER boss fight, the culmination of everything she's ever done, the ultimate do or die, her own final boss in her own story. To you, she's a hard fight, but ultimately just the first hurdle to clear. To you, it's Tuesday, but to her, it's the most important moment in her entire life. Lancer vs Susie isn't quite that dramatic, but the idea is the same: The name of the theme is all the proof you need that yeah, Susie is Lancer's boss fight.
I get the feeling that's gonna happen and the worst part is that there's no one to blame but us. we created this mess, and some have the cruelty to continue with it. some are curious. it won't change what happens, it's still our fault.
Honestly, I was terrified. Deltarune is SO MUCH more different than Undertale in that you actually have a third person you can’t control until the end (Susie) and you have to actually stop them from killing someone. It turns from, “Okay, I just won’t kill” to “What the heck can I do about Susie!?”
Something that really hits me about the end of this "fight" is how Lancer straight up tells Susie she missed, as if he was truly expecting her to kill him. He just accepted the possibility that he hurt Susie through his actions, and welcomed the consequences that came with that, even though he did what he did for a reason he knew was plausible and potentially beneficial to both him and his new friends. The saddest part wasn't Susie feeling betrayed, or Lancer getting terribly hurt. It was that he was ready to accept death, a *painful* death, mind you, if it meant Susie took at least a bit of comfort in knowing she scratched one more traitor from her life. ...He just... *took it.* And it wasn't his fault, nor was it Susie's. This entire scenario was painful for all the right reasons. Maybe I'm overthinking it. But I know what it's like to want to do the right thing and end up hurting friends because I did all the wrong things, which just so happened to be Lancer's situation. I think I relate to him more than I do Susie. We're not perfect, we build judgment as we grow and it's not always at the ready. The best learning experiences are the ones that hurt you the most.
How is there no replies to this yet, this is beautiful, the way that i can really tell you put some of your own emotions into this. but maybe I'M overthinking this.
“The best learning experiences are the ones that hurt you the most.” That couldn’t be more true. I’ve lost a handful of close friends because of my decisions and let me tell you, I have *not* recovered from the sting of that loss. I do miss them, but had I not lost them I would not have seen the fault of my actions.
The whole scene made me cringe, but not in the standard "ew" kind of way. It was such a well written scene that made me uncomfortable to a point where I only thought "god damn when is it gonna end, this is awful." Toby was at it again, using that magic touch of his to write a perfectly tense scene.
@@whitepumpkinenthusiast27 its like when you put two contrasting things together to enhance the impact of them. It has many implications, including writing, art and in this case music (damn english class actually helped)
@@justonenumber7 I already know that, but didn't at the time of fighting him, still made him less trustworthy imo, I wouldn't be surprised if it were to happen again in later chapters. @gachadick if you want to write off half the population without even meeting them, that's your choice. I think generalization is gross though, personally.
World Revolving is fun and all, but this is easily the best track in Chapter 1. It has so much tragedy and emotional weight to it, not to mention just being a killer bop of a tune. It's the same reason for why I always felt like Heartache was easily the most underrated boss theme in Undertale. Because you can just feel the emotion in the instruments, all without a word of lyrics. These two songs are the boss themes that make me cry. Vs. Susie starts off so angry and resentful, like Susie does in the fight. She's telling herself that Lancer is a backstabbing traitor, who she should get even with. She's taking out years of pent up anger, over being hated and isolated from everyone around her, all on poor, innocent Lancer. But the second verse is just desperate and heartbroken, as though Susie is just sobbing, mourning what she's doing to the one person that she was ever able to call a true friend.
if you listen to the right side of your earphones, you'll hear fear if you listen to the left side of your earphones, you'll hear anger susie was on the left side, lancer was on the right side
Heartache was Jevil’s battle theme at one point, and Bonetrousle was Rudebuster. Here’s an excerpt from an interview. “How long has the idea for DELTARUNE been kicking around in your head?” “In 2011, when I was away at school, I got very sick. I ended up having a terrible fever and couldn't get any medicine for it, and while I was sleeping I had a vivid dream about the ending to a game. Since then... I felt like I had to make the game with that ending. I attempted to make that game in 2012 using character designs by an artist I really liked called Kanotynes. However, I stopped making it even before I made a single room of the game. That game.. I ended up repurposing a few of the songs from it for UNDERTALE. For example, "Heartache" was originally called "Joker Battle" and "Bonetrousle" was originally the main battle theme. Then I decided around when I did the Kickstarter to UNDERTALE (2013) that if I ever completed UNDERTALE, my next game would be a mix of UNDERTALE and that concept.” This is from an interview Toby did with Nintendo about Deltarune.
Well said, heartache is easily one of my favorites from the UT ost and this is my absolute fave from DR, and the fact that people are so swept up in the meme characters and ignore the emotional cores of each game makes me a saaaaaaad panda
@@LunaticRhythms I imagine more percussion and what I call "galloping guitar". Don't know the proper term, but it's three strums and then a pause repeating. It sounds like a horse galloping to me, rhythm-wise.
This is possibly one off the most genius songs Toby Fox has ever made. The atmosphere of the situation was captured perfectly, Susie trying to kill Lancer because Susie thinks it is. What must be done. You know a song is good when it sends a chill down your spine.
then the second verse is her regreting this idea, she wants to spare lancer and it really uncovers her true story of about how she always was misunderstood and feared by people around her, she just wants to have a friend and prove to everyone she's a good person , not the menacing villain she is seen as
Well, there's a small caveat to that. The main rhythm timing is taken straight from Earthbound's City Bus Ride song (which much of his music takes inspiration from), but what he transformed that baseline into and how it fits into the game is really badass and unique. It deserves to be praised for sure.
I think my favorite part about the fight has to be that if you take too many hits (or intentionally get hit trying to stop Susie like I did…) Lancer just straight up makes his attacks miss, actively avoiding you, and after a while you just can’t get hit. Really sells the whole confrontation for me…
i honestly felt so bad for lancer and susie in this battle, i doubt lancer could take thousands of hit points and still be standing but i think the damage was emotional damage too, he felt like he betrayed susie and susie felt like she had been betrayed, yet she didn't want to kill the best friend she's ever had
Most of this song sounds angry, which makes sense since Susie is trying to avenge her own perceived betrayal by Lancer. But when that piano kicks in (it's in the background; can be hard to notice when you aren't looking for it) at 0:54, you can really feel all the pain that Susie's experiencing. She's been unfairly isolated for most of her life, at school and possibly even at home. Lancer is the first person who seemed to actually WANT to be around her, and now she's has to contend with the fact that it was all just wishful thinking. AHHH THIS SONG MAKES ME SO SAD
Susie is my favorite character by far. Her being the only one who can REALLY make her own choices, and that being one of the things Kris must like about her makes a cool dynamic. Hell, I know people mention Noelle as being the character to make route defining choices with, but the cool thing with Susie is that she literally ignores the player to make her own choices. Another thing is that she's just a good person despite what you're supposed to think at first, saving Kris twice now. That and so much other stuff I could go into, but I don't want to write a book in the comment section of stuff that's probably already been said.
Ya, you make a good point. We all know what strings bind Kirs. After all, they're the strings *we* have wielded since our first video games. And Ralsei has his own strings. He's been alone in the castle town for years (or at least it probably felt like years), and he must have been so starved for companionship that, despite advocating for peace, will still go along with -Kris- the Player when they choose to hurt everyone in their path. Not really reprimanding or scolding Kris for it. Most likely out of fear of being left alone again. And He's had the pressure of upholding the prophecy & stopping the Roaring for Toby knows how long. Ralsei's probably a slave to his own fears of isolation, not getting to make his own choices. (Because what if those choices cost him his first friends in forever?) And then there's Susie. Chapter 1 said that Susie would only ever Attack. But she was able to break free of that restraint. In Chapter 2, Susie broke free of the restraint that only Kris could do/order the needed Actions to Spare foes. And no matter what the Player has Kris do, no matter what option the player picks, Susie's still calling her own shots. She'll always blow off the groop project to go into the New Dark World. She'll always nab Ralsei & split off from Kris. She'll never be romantic with Noelle in the Ferris Wheel. She'll easily continue to call shots where the Player would usually get choices to make. And she'll probably be the one to prove that one's choices *do* matter in the finale of the Last Chapter.
@@thegreendragon5390 I think in the evil route of this game, Susie being the only character to be able to make her own choices will be targeted by the player. I think the player will try to kill susie in the future to further establish control in the world. Noelle's weaknesses are exploited in the snowgrave route, ralsei tries to oppose the player (by trying to talk to kris or doing actions when the player is not looking), but isn't very succesful. So, from the party, susie is the only one who disregards the player's actions. And if the player seeks total control, he'll want to take out anyone capable of resisting. So perhaps we'll see a kris vs susie fight later in the story. And, just like in undertale, i think that, with each chapter, the consequences of the previously done actions will change the story. For example, let's say that in the good story, we seek to kill the knight to stop him from doing evil. While in the bad story, we seek to kill the knight to absorb his power and do more evil. Both lead to the same outcome: the death of the knight, but the reasoning is different.

If you listen closely enough, you can hear three different emotions constantly playing throughout the song: Anger, Sadness, and Pain. The anger is represented through the secondary guitar, playing with a repetitive 8 notes and continuing to bubble up with no end. Sadness is portrayed through the lead guitar, starting off shadowed by the anger, but eventually showing itself as the main emotion. It plays long, stretched out notes, detached from the other instruments as if it were a wailing voice. The background string instrument (forgive me, I do not know what it is exactly) shows itself as pain. It doesn't appear to be present during the first part of the song, but it begins to show itself towards the end and amplifies the intensity of the other emotions, especially sadness. This song shows the emotions Susie is experiencing throughout her fight with Lancer, starting off with mostly anger as sadness and pain begin to show themselves more and more. It symbolizes Susie's internal struggle as she fights her best friend. TL;DR, this song rocks.
Wow! This is one of the best analysis of the song that I have read throughout every TH-cam video I've watched of this theme played, really. I honestly did not that the lead guitar represents the feeling of sadness, the rhythm guitar of anger and finally the other string instrument of pain. (That I honestly can't hear in my earphones but I do believe in you that it is there; I'll have to put more effort into hearing it.) I really like this! Edit: One point I want to mention...I really love that the other string instrument is not too audible for me to hear but is definitely there...goes to show that Susie's pain is being hidden from her other two emotions - and I really love how the theme shows it, really! Edit 2: I wish this comment has more likes, really.
"i trusted you...." in perfect song form. this track is just so raw with emotion man, perfectly compliments it's battle in a way only toby could pull off. good stuff man
By far one of the best songs in the Deltarune track. Everything was all fun and silliness, until this moment turned to a serious tension. edit: Looking back two years from now, I could've worded this comment properly.
Easily my favorite track in the entire game. Toby Fox is absolutely brilliant. He's great at everything. Game development, making music, story-writing, literally anything. This song communicates so much emotion--it really proves that music is by far one of the best things mankind has ever come up with. You can feel the sense of betrayal and genuine pain behind Susie's actions and a hint of Lancer's reason. Friendly reminder that this absolute masterpiece is free. I was astonished when I finally found out that it was on steam for a whopping 0 cents--both chapters. The only DOWNSIDE to deltarune is that I can't get my mind off it. Same with undertale. Toby's been a role model of mine since the day undertale came out. I've always been fascinated by it. Absolutely amazing.
Nothing has had me as emotionally attached to something like this game series has. Deltarune and undertale were such a big part of my life (probably more than any other thing I've liked) and never failed to make me cry. Toby fox is such a genius
I can also say, while this isn't the most important game to me, it still is very important to me and has shaped a lot of my younger self into who I am today, and honestly finding songs like these that explain things so well when I can't even explain them with words just does something to me and makes it feel like I'm not always alone, even if these characters don't exist and I love it
I just realised that normally Susie does... what? 100+ damage per hit right? but in this fight she does upwards of 250 and even 300! It really helps convey the emotional distress Susie is going through in this fight, on one hand, she wants to kill Lancer for betraying her trust, causing her to take out years of pent up rage and aggression on him... but on the other hand, she doesn't want to kill Lancer because they were such good friends and she would feel horrible with the guilt she would carry about killing her friend. Strong stuff, eh?
Susie's damage got bigger whenever the time goes, like example when you fight Jevil, attack on first hit is beetween 90-120 but when the time goes, Susie's damage is beetween 120-150 i accidentally lating Jevil fight and im surprised that Susie's damage got bigger.
in undertale, you could do more damage depending on the vulnerability of the enemy. That's why betrayal boss kills (getting to a point where you could spare the enemy and then attacking instead) were 1-hit KNOCKOUTS. I'd imagine Lancer was pretty vulnerable in this fight; that was his best friend who was understandably hurt by his actions, and he couldn't even convince himself to fight back. Basically, Susie did both physical and emotional damage, lmao.
fun fact: Lancer has 2400 HP. the damage Susie does in the fight increases by 15 each turn, with the grand total being 2936. If Susie hadn't spared Lancer, that last hit would've killed him for sure.
maybe in a final fight in ch 7 snowgrave/genocide route where ralsei and susie + company kinda just reflect on what kris has become, and team up to do what they must to stop kris. maybe it'll show up mashed up with everyone's battle themes + rude buster.
I absolutely love the fact that the guitar riffs in the second half of the song are the same as the susie theme all the way back in the beginning, this is easily my favorite track of the game it's so good
this is one of the songs I wish Toby will expand on more in the later chapters, I think this song is great but short and repetitive. Maybe he'll make additions to susie's theme the more she grows during the game.
Said it before, saying it again. What truly makes this fight is that even when you try to lose as hard as you can, you are still unable to stop what's going on. Things have spiraled outside even the players boundaries, and there is just so much rage involved that it defies your control. All you can do is watch, unable to intervene. It sets the tension up to make the ultimate resolution being a peaceful one all that more palpable. It's probably not a new trick in video game narratives, but it's still a good one.
Thine rhythmic'eth arrangement of sounds'eth that may'st proceed to be'eth heard'eth when'st thou come'eth unto physical aggression'eth with the carbonated beverage device'eth.
It was really sad when I realized lancers attacks having less spades in them each turn wasn’t just because he didn’t want to kill Susie,he was probably hanging on by threads and was using all the strength he had left to survive susies attacks.
it would be AMAZING if Toby decides to put this song in later parts of Deltarune. Knowing Toby, he probably will. Toby is the type who just knows how to please a fandom the best he can. We should really all credit Toby a lot more. He's seriously good at his job.
Even though Lancer had good intentions (wanting to keep the lighteners from fighting his father because he didn't want anyone to get hurt), he _did_ still betray his friends (his _only_ friends). Meanwhile, Susie had _finally_ made friends with someone. This angry, withdrawn outcast who genuinely believed that no one would want to be her friend had actually managed to connect with someone. Then, that someone had her thrown into a dungeon. It really pisses me off that so many people treat Susie as the villain in this situation. Lancer isn't exactly a saint, either, and I'd argue that Lancer's actions were worse. Yeah, "pure little onion", I get it; he's a little kid and people want to treat him as though he Can Do No Wrong. Meanwhile, Susie is a big, scary dinosaur with an axe and a lot of anger issues. So, you'd assume that she's the bad guy, right? After all, she's _scary_ and *mean!* That's the sort of treatment that creates someone like Susie. The people who treat her as a villain without even considering that her actions might be understandable or even _justifiable_ in some cases are just like the people in Hometown whose judgement pushed Susie into being angry, withdrawn, and miserable. Self-righteous pricks...
Henry Mclaughlin That’s what so much about this boss fight. Neither character is completely in the right in this situation. It’s like watching two of your best friends get into a brawl in the parking lot. You want to love and support both, know they both made mistakes, and can understand the motivations behind both. Being someone who’s been an outcast before, I could honestly empathize with Susie a little more but I still felt desperate to stop her.
Except... nobody thinks she's the villain... Stop inventing "the self-righteous pricks" in your head. Also insulting people does not make your arguements better.
Honestly, after chapter 2, I think this theme will be exclusive to Chapter 1. Mostly because this theme directly represents that single battle its used in. If we ever fight Susie again, it's going to be different. And we're not gonna like what's gonna happen in that fight.
@@colonelflaunders That's true, and I would love that yet at the same time I have to deny it, as while it sounds fucking awesome, there's probably something better Toby will pull out.
I can definitely see this being remixed, but I dont think it'll be used straight. Toby has always loved using his music as a sort of shock factor in his games, so I would be surprised if this didn't have some sort of alteration if it ever appeared again.
I think it will be used again, but only having this as a leitmotif for the first part of the song, then expanding to be more complex at like a minute or so

Look, we all know this song will get reused later on in the game. It sounds too heroic to only be used just in that sceene. Maybe when Susie fights the player.
yknow, this song, and susie’s whole character, really hits a spot for me. ive always been a big dude. not in the fat sense, but in the built like a tank sense. for much of my life ive had issues socializing and connecting with people, as well as issues with my own temper. people were always scared of me because not only did i look the part, but there were these outbursts i had here and there that people knew about. and i was betrayed by friends. my only friends, really. i was at my lowest, dealing with grief, only to find out that my friends had been trying to get rid of me, and had been talking shit about me behind my back. and that caused me to snap. i said things i regretted, and while things got better in the end, some serious shit happened that permanently fucked with me.
So, I don't really know all that much about you, or how long ago this happened, or what stage of life you happen to be at right now, but I do hope you can recover from that. Few wounds are more difficult to heal than those of betrayal, something I've had the displeasure of watching happen time and again... I hope people can learn to see past your exterior, because whatever's in there I highly doubt you deserved to be treated as you have been so far :l
I've had a pretty similar case happen to me, but unfortunately just being really introverted while also at times and a lot in the past, with anger issues, and I feel like it's been internalized in me now and has turned into sadness. Not to make a pity part, but all this to say I understand the feeling, and I hope things got better. I'd love to be your friend if I ever met you or someone like you in person ❤ Stay safe man
This is such a perfect song for susie. It has the perfect aura of someone whos been broken so many times that theyve come to expect it. Susie is clearly suffering. She keeps pushing people away because in her eyes, every single friend shes ever had has abandoned her, and its her fault. Shes angry with herself, but doesnt know what do to, so in order to not feel the pain shes felt so many times, she refuses to let anyone get close, which only makes it hurt so much more when susie says "No, i get it. Why would anyone want to be my friend anyway?". Susie has come to think that this is just how she is, that she cant change. Then for the first time in a long time, she tries to opens up and form a friendship with someone, but in the end, is abandoned yet again, just like everyone else. She even scoffs at herself for thinking that this time was going to be any different. She thinks that lancer had never liked her, that he had only pretended to be her friend. Susie has never been liked, never been good at anything, never been supported by anyone. Shes angry that she trusted him, she feels betrayed, and alone. This song just perfectly encapsulates all of that raw emotion.
This is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard from the undertale/deltarune series, and your extended version loops so well XD Second favourite song in the game. I would tell you the first one, but its a bit... Chaotic.

So Vs. Susie But Susie is in your team You aren't fighting Susie, the one doing that is Lancer But you aren't seeing this from Lancer's point of view So either this will be reused someday in which you do fight Susie, and thus it was named like this just to age well Or the name of this want to leave some deep meaning, like the fact that the one in this battle that has the advantage, or the one that is the "Boss" was indeed Susie, as Lancer was in a disadvantage A _moral_ one
Susie being a boss later on is definitely a big possibility now that we know the story will have at least some branching aspects, shown in chapter 2. I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes some great remix of this and either something related to castletown, or something in the future. Regardless of how it treats my heart, it will sound incredible.
i finally realized that there was a good lesson susie learned through this fight and how it led to her character arc. this was a fight she couldn't win through violence. if she gets lancer "out of the way" her only friend will be gone. she can continue the quest but nothing will have changed. she'll stick to her vices of solving problems with violence. but she didn't kill lancer. she realized this was a fight that could only be won with abstinence. not fighting at all. the conflict is resolved when they make up and work together again. she spared lancer. just like we spared all the enemies before

Why couldn’t she do this much damage against Jevil
Hate for Lancer makes damage bigger for the time being.
George Meyers or Lancer had less defence

How is there no replies to this yet, this is beautiful, the way that i can really tell you put some of your own emotions into this. but maybe I'M overthinking this.

toby really stepped up the emotional relativity people may have towards the characters, and the best example so far is susie.
oh shit you're right
“The best learning experiences are the ones that hurt you the most.”
That couldn’t be more true.

Adding onto this: the sadder melody covers up the main one, almost as though her sadness and guilt is overriding her anger and urge to kill Lancer.
if you listen to the right side of your earphones, you'll hear fear
if you listen to the left side of your earphones, you'll hear anger
susie was on the left side, lancer was on the right side
sans deltarune lol
Heartache was Jevil’s battle theme at one point, and Bonetrousle was Rudebuster.
Here’s an excerpt from an interview.
“How long has the idea for DELTARUNE been kicking around in your head?”
“In 2011, when I was away at school, I got very sick.
Then I decided around when I did the Kickstarter to UNDERTALE (2013) that if I ever completed UNDERTALE, my next game would be a mix of UNDERTALE and that concept.”
This is from an interview Toby did with Nintendo about Deltarune.
Well said, heartache is easily one of my favorites from the UT ost and this is my absolute fave from DR, and the fact that people are so swept up in the meme characters and ignore the emotional cores of each game makes me a saaaaaaad panda

AHHH THIS SONG MAKES ME SO SAD
this song literally has so many emoitons lmao
THATS A PIANO? bro I've been trying to figure out what the background instrument was for so long thank you
Susie is my favorite character by far.
(Because what if those choices cost him his first friends in forever?)
And then there's Susie.
@@thegreendragon5390 Hell yeah dude! I'm glad you get it too!
You gave me a headcannon . Maybe one of the reason why kris likes Susie, because she can her own choices and not let the soul order her around.
Susie is my favorite too
@@thegreendragon5390 I think in the evil route of this game, Susie being the only character to be able to make her own choices will be targeted by the player.

(That I honestly can't hear in my earphones but I do believe in you that it is there; I'll have to put more effort into hearing it.)
I really like this!
Edit: One point I want to mention...I really love that the other string instrument is not too audible for me to hear but is definitely there...goes to show that Susie's pain is being hidden from her other two emotions - and I really love how the theme shows it, really!

Susie's damage got bigger whenever the time goes, like example when you fight Jevil, attack on first hit is beetween 90-120 but when the time goes, Susie's damage is beetween 120-150 i accidentally lating Jevil fight and im surprised that Susie's damage got bigger.
also, don't forget that Lancer started out like what, -40 DEF, and it decreased by 5 at the start of each turn including the first turn
man when susie joined for first time the party and fight the first k. round she did 500 of damage
in undertale, you could do more damage depending on the vulnerability of the enemy.

Nah, I think The Holy is more underrated
After all, she's _scary_ and *mean!*
That's the sort of treatment that creates someone like Susie.
Honestly, after chapter 2, I think this theme will be exclusive to Chapter 1. Mostly because this theme directly represents that single battle its used in. If we ever fight Susie again, it's going to be different. And we're not gonna like what's gonna happen in that fight.
I think it's possible to be used again but only if there's any severe betrayal that happens leading to Susie's unbridled rage
@@colonelflaunders That's true, and I would love that yet at the same time I have to deny it, as while it sounds fucking awesome, there's probably something better Toby will pull out.
@@guardian8926 Oh yeh knowing toby he's gonna pull off something amazing
I can definitely see this being remixed, but I dont think it'll be used straight. Toby has always loved using his music as a sort of shock factor in his games, so I would be surprised if this didn't have some sort of alteration if it ever appeared again.
I think it will be used again, but only having this as a leitmotif for the first part of the song, then expanding to be more complex at like a minute or so
I love Susie! This song was my favorite in the game.

@@trashbeast Considering digital roots also has the same motif for Omega Flowey in it and the name itself being a pun on flower roots, I find that incredibly hard to believe. This seems purposeful. yknow, this song, and susie’s whole character, really hits a spot for me.
ive always been a big dude. not in the fat sense, but in the built like a tank sense. for much of my life ive had issues socializing and connecting with people, as well as issues with my own temper. people were always scared of me because not only did i look the part, but there were these outbursts i had here and there that people knew about.
and i was betrayed by friends. my only friends, really. i was at my lowest, dealing with grief, only to find out that my friends had been trying to get rid of me, and had been talking shit about me behind my back.
and that caused me to snap. i said things i regretted, and while things got better in the end, some serious shit happened that permanently fucked with me.
sad to hear man, you should move on and ignore people that treat you like that, hope everything goes well
So, I don't really know all that much about you, or how long ago this happened, or what stage of life you happen to be at right now, but I do hope you can recover from that. Few wounds are more difficult to heal than those of betrayal, something I've had the displeasure of watching happen time and again...
I hope people can learn to see past your exterior, because whatever's in there I highly doubt you deserved to be treated as you have been so far :l
i can actually relate to that in some level
It’s the same for me dude don’t have many friends but I moved on
I've had a pretty similar case happen to me, but unfortunately just being really introverted while also at times and a lot in the past, with anger issues, and I feel like it's been internalized in me now and has turned into sadness. Not to make a pity part, but all this to say I understand the feeling, and I hope things got better. I'd love to be your friend if I ever met you or someone like you in person ❤

That one song that plays when the bass kicks up too hard it actually didn't.
This song just perfectly encapsulates all of that raw emotion.
this song fucking hurts dude. that second verse is so full of pain and confusion and betrayal and ugh. god this song fucking hurts.
This is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard from the undertale/deltarune series, and your extended version loops so well XD

So
Vs. Susie
But Susie is in your team
You aren't fighting Susie, the one doing that is Lancer
But you aren't seeing this from Lancer's point of view
So either this will be reused someday in which you do fight Susie, and thus it was named like this just to age well
Or the name of this want to leave some deep meaning, like the fact that the one in this battle that has the advantage, or the one that is the "Boss" was indeed Susie, as Lancer was in a disadvantage
A _moral_ one
Ill see you in like.. 4 years bro.
@@genoteh9706 Alright.
Susie being a boss later on is definitely a big possibility now that we know the story will have at least some branching aspects, shown in chapter 2. I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes some great remix of this and either something related to castletown, or something in the future. Regardless of how it treats my heart, it will sound incredible.
susie is the boss. she's the only one that can overpower the soul's voice. the only thing your soul can do to kill susie is purposely let her die
the player is actively fighting against susie, making decisions to try and stop her from hurting lancer, that's my interpretation anyway.
The song that might play when a main character just had a flashback during a 1v15
i finally realized that there was a good lesson susie learned through this fight and how it led to her character arc. this was a fight she couldn't win through violence. if she gets lancer "out of the way" her only friend will be gone. she can continue the quest but nothing will have changed. she'll stick to her vices of solving problems with violence.
but she didn't kill lancer. she realized this was a fight that could only be won with abstinence. not fighting at all. the conflict is resolved when they make up and work together again. she spared lancer.
just like we spared all the enemies before
