Mr. Galih and Mrs. Indi is a close friend of mine. It is really cool when you can running both business and hobbies together with your spouse. There is actually so much story behind Gspeed. Mr. Galih is a known fixture in Holden and V8 scene in Indon3sia since late 80s / early 90s. In fact he held some record on Jakarta's street (imagine Smokey Nagata type activity). He didn't actually planned to open a workshop. He built his own car after several unpleasant experience at other workshop. That car is a big block (8.2 litre iirc) powered orange Holden Monaro HT. What interesting is that Mr. Galih did the mechanical stuff and Mrs. Indi did the exterior and interior design. That car won a contest by Meguiar's and that car was supposed to go to SEMA, but unfortunately stuff happened and the car didn't go to SEMA. But thanks to that Monaro, a lot of people start asking if Mr. Galih can built their cars. True story, he give a numbers hoping that people got turn off and surprisingly they agreed! Mr. Galih and Mrs. Indi remained the only Indonesians to ever compete in SEMA's battle of the builders with that Ford F-1 in your video. I think they made it into top 200 and the only Asian builders to make it that far that year. What makes Gspeed build special is that you can used it daily. Mr. Galih in fact said his engine is a "tropical engine" that it can run on Indonesian humid weather. I'm a witness to that, I once driven by Mr. Galih in his Monaro, even traffic jam don't affect the temperatures (not to mention the acceleration!). Every Gspeed built after that has combination of Mr. Galih mechanical work and Mrs. Indi exterior and interior touch (she did the drawing, choosing colours and she even did the interior stitching itself). Another thing about Gspeed is that Mr. Galih didn't afraid to share his knowledge. He has an agreement with technical college for students to do their apprentice in his workshop. What surprised me is that he really gives a lot of knowledge and in fact he also teach work ethics. I once asked, would he be afraid that some of his pupils will be his future rival, he said he loves if they ended up creating works like him because he wants to see more builder like him in Indonesia. Larry, if you ever come to Indonesia again, you should indeed visit Gspeed. I can help you arrange it with them and you'll be surprised that in a small workshop, they able to made SEMA quality build (they also has a 2 special cars in the built, I think you'll love it). PS: In your last video you said you can't drive LHD vehicle in Indonesia. That is not true, you can drive them legally. What you can't is importing brand new LHD cars (except several cases such as diplomatic / government use). The reason why Gspeed convert their built into RHD because they encourage their customer to drive it daily. Also a bit of background in American cars in Indonesia. They used to rule the streets up until the 60s when Japanese cars coming and governement banned cars importation. For pickup, the popular models would be Chevrolet (AK Series, Advanced Design, Task Force and C-Series) followed by Dodge (known as Fargo, since they were sold using that export only brand) and Ford F-Series is relatively rare. They used to be dirt cheap up until 10 years ago (you can get a good but not pristine car less than 7k USD back then). But now the price has gone through the roof.
I remember seeing Mercury and Dodge fargo, The workshop is somewhere near Ricci 2 school, in 2017 IIRC . His name is Hanny. He also builds Harley Davidson bikes as well. I heard the plan is to put a 1uz motor in mercury. Did you know him as well?
Man, stuff like this is why I just love car culture. I couldn't imagine traveling half-way across the world to a place like Indonesia and come across someone daily driving a show quality classic American truck. Special kind of enthusiast to build stuff like this with how hard it is to get anything imported.
Well, they do not drive that kind of car every day, but in the weekend, in some area of jakarta and it's surrounding cities you can definetly see those car rolling and being used.. 😊 i live in the neighbourhood where those kind of car will come for do their cars and coffee meets, or just even for morning weekend cruise.. 😀 And when the pandemic strikes back then they even go out on the weekdays too..
World-class craftsmanship. These would stand out in any hot rod show in the US and the fact that her and her husband has that many more challenges due to import taxes, lead times, etc. just makes it that much more special.
2:30 Sonokeling is Guitarist's favorite fretboard, can find one in Fender's or Ibanez premium models... In commercial wood it is known as Purple Rosewood, twice more expensive than usual Mahogany wood that similarly popular tone wood. If She made those expensive tone wood into violins or electric guitar, it may fetch 8k in US market easily...
If you want to see more American/Australian muscle cars, you can go to Yogyakarta or Semarang, they have bigger hotrod culture there. One of them is called Hotrodiningrat, they mainly do events in Yogyakarta.
There's a big classic american cars community in Indonesia called hotrodiningrat from Jogjakarta. They usually held a yearly event called hot rod weekend party
Wow man I’m blown away by this, the cars/trucks she and her husband builds are world class and what’s even more impressive is the adversity they face doing so and I absolutely agree with her, if there’s no passion forget it you’re wasting your time!!!
Wowwww. Perfectly built so clean. I’m loving these Indonesia series, the stories & what it takes to build these cars is crazyyyyy. Love how you can tell she got her hands dirty with this build when she’s able to break everything down. Makes you appreciate them much more. Thanks Larry 💪🏼
yes most of Indonesian police is actually loves cars as long as ita not too loud. I think you realise there some "ilegal" modification and the police doesnt really care.
Yeah they just want to pull over someone if they need money. For you guys who live in States or somewhere, in Indonesia some officer sold their dad's rice field and paid like $20.000 to be an officer, and they just want to get their money back as soon as possible.
"I have to accept what I can build". I get it, but my sister in christ. These builds are some people's dreams cars. You guys put so many US shops to shame
She surpasses many fab and car builders across the world, just absolutely amazing her family and crew are also absolutely amazing, and the love they put into it shows
This is truly incredible. When people want something so different, they will do what they need to, so they can stand out in a crowd. That's the wrong hood on the 67 Chevy.
Mr Galih GSpeed is owner both of this American Muscle car, he is the builder of the Small Block / Big Block V8 engine for Tropical weather, resistant to high temperatures. He also has a car from Aussie with a Big Block Chevy engine, the Holden Monaro HT
Love that beautiful grey Ford. I learned to drive on one of these so many years ago. I was 6 or 7 years old and we fed cows in the winter by my brother or I driving and the other throwing bales off to the cows. Tell the lady that built it that I will make room in my garage when she wants to let me have it. Thanks for your uploads Larry. Tom
She is awesome, her and her husbands shop does legit work. I would love more info, but am glad to not know as well. Knowing the laws would rather it stays somewhat private for their sake. So much cooler too.
i think u missed the opportunity to take a look at one of the major car scene in Indonesia, that is the diesel scene where we modified and raced diesel SUVs and Minivans mainly produced by Toyota but locally made. we usually call them Cumi darat (Land squid) due to the sheer amount of soot coming out of their exhaust pipes and makes em looks like squids that are running away from predators
That's not even close to this content, you are comparing a brand new diesel suv that cost 40k USD that can only spill black smoke to a full build from scratch 200k+ rare car with all detail builds & mods. If you say they are fast, ladder frame are ladder frame. Will never build for the circuit
can't compare the quality of building the car, cumi darat just upgrade the power but this building a minority car with lots of limitations, difficult to get spare parts and even against the law just to get spare parts cumi darat is unique but not special
Since 2018, LHD are Banned in Indonesia.. But if it imported from LHD Countries, it still possible. But it will forced to move the steering wheel to the right side for legal road regulation and legal paper registration..
There will be always pros and cons. Yes it's hard to get parts and it's expensive. But be grateful that laws here are very relaxed on modified cars. Even Malaysia has a stricter laws that restrict what can they do on their cars. There is always a silver lining and just be grateful for what we had, it could have been worse.
Just like they took an american made truck and put a right hand drive in the truck I would do the same thing with the earlier model GTR Nissan making it a left hand drive. But like anything else in life how deep can your pockets go.
Thank you guys for watching. If you guys want a signed print for your wall I print all of them myself from my large format Canon printer larrychenprints.com/

Thank you so much Mr. Ifan, its short and accurate explanation.

Wow I wouldn’t have expected something like this from Indonesia. She killed it, that’s super impressive. The wood in the beds are gorgeous. 🔥👌
Thats normal in indonesia , few years ago there is many tv show modifications about vichicle
@@m.renaldiprimala9930 this build is really far from the word normal. Even in the US these are like a dream build for enthusiasts.

This lady is amazing. She's so humble while building some beautiful rides.
If you want to see more American/Australian muscle cars, you can go to Yogyakarta or Semarang, they have bigger hotrod culture there. One of them is called Hotrodiningrat, they mainly do events in Yogyakarta.
I love seeing that all around the world car people are car people. No matter what language you speak, cars are a universal language. Much love Larry!
