    Hi i was wondering if anyone know which component contains the analogue LCD display strip that is seen through the viewfinder (Light meter, shutter speed, aperture, battery indicator). Is it the viewfinder optic assembly as shown in the video 56:47?

    • @CameraRestore
      @CameraRestore  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi that’s inside the viewfinder, behind the optics there’s the strip led screen, I don’t think you will find it as single replacement, most likely the whole viewfinder. It is not working at all or is partially faulty?

    I am in Ghana , West Africa...I am looking for a way I can make financial contribution online...We don't have a paypal yet ...I will figure out how I get a master card ....
    I bought a supposedly new canon 90D in a local store about 4 months ago...Just 2 weeks ago at an event ... I noticed the camera would not respond . switching it on only the Lcd panel on top comes on ...no other button is working including the articulated screen ...
    Are you familiar with this and could be the fault please ?

    • @CameraRestore
      @CameraRestore  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, this type of issue was happening on some old models and in that case was a fault with the mainboard, I assume the camera is in warranty… You should contact the store you bought it from. This is a serious problem and might need motherboard replacement.

    AHH! LOL! I was looking for how that silly little rubber port door in the battery compartment connects/disconnects from the camera body so that I can (hopefully) replace it on mine, and I got all the way to the end of your video where I could SEE that door but you didn't go into how to remove it. You skipped it. :) Darn it!
    You wouldn't know how to remove that, would you? ...It's that little rubber door flap that allows for a cord to hang outside of the battery case when you connect an external AC power adapter to the camera. I'm hoping it's just as simple as sliding the rubber piece up or down t remove it. But I don't want to be wrong, and end up accidentally forcing it, and cause a worse situation.
    Is there any diagram or manual out there that would help to instruct someone on how to replace that thing by chance?
    Thanks! :)
    Todd

      Hey, that little rubber comes off once you removed the bottom cover, follow the steps up to that point.

    • @stormspottertodd
      @stormspottertodd 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CameraRestore Ooh. Does that mean I have to take the whole camera apart like that to get to it? I was hoping there was a way to just slide it out. Can I get to it without having to take the rest of the camera apart, like, just the battery section, without having to unpeel the outer cover and stuff like that.

    canon 6D was working well untill it just froze and won't shut down until battery is removed and no buttons are working it just froze and no display on main screen . what could be the problem.?

    • @CameraRestore
      @CameraRestore  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It looks like a DC/DC power issue, also the PCB may be compromised. Needs proper testing for that.

    Excellent video! I have a question. I have a 6D that was in a case that got submerged. The battery and card were removed, and the camera was left in rice for 2 days. Afterwards it wouldn't power on. With as little experience as I have, I disassembled the body and cleaned it with alcohol. After reassembling, it powered on and performed all functions except it won't connect to the lens. I disassembled it again and noticed that there was some burns on the bottom driver board so I ordered a new one and replaced it. After reassembling again, it still won't connect to the lens. Any ideas?

    • @CameraRestore
      @CameraRestore  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi thanks, the rice thing doesn't work, it might work a bit but definitely 2 days is too much for leaving the camera with water inside, probably you got lucky and not much water got inside, that might be the reason why the camera still gives some signs of life, i assume was sweat water and not seawater.
      You will need to check all pins connected to the PBC of the flex connectors to ensure there are all ok and no corrosion affected the pins. In some cases, water and high current creates a short circuit and so this mix speeds up the corrosion. You will need a microscope or at least some watch repair loupe to check all the pins. If you find black pins, that means there was a short, and in some cases the pin solder gets completely eaten by corrosion to the point of being completely disconnected from the PCB. Not an easy job, though.
      A how-to video is on my list for this matter...

    Awesome video!! i also have a question. my 6D fell on the floor, cracked the casing from the hotshoe towards the top display. since then, the "internal light meter" does not work. it always thinks its waaaay underexposed, so i cant rely on the exposure level indicator on the top display, cant use any modes (Av Tv etc) and i have to do it all manually, finding out the proper settings to take a shoot just by common sense and experience. i also watched your video, i did not noticed you mentioning the internal light meter, if there is any, and its not all done digitali on the board or something.
    cheers!

    • @CameraRestore
      @CameraRestore  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi thanks, your issue it is so rare that I didn’t consider it. Anyhow inside the viewfinder there is the light meter, it seats on the top of the pentaprism if I remember well…
      Best would be to dismantle the camera and investigate what parts got damaged then order what you need. Check out my stock for parts if you need anything, link into the description.

      @@CameraRestore I came here because someone offered me a 6D with a front control wheel that no longer changes the settings, so I was wondering whether to get it, and tear it down to see if I could maybe fix it. In your teardown, you say that the front wheel rubber sometimes doesn't turn the mechanism. In your experience, would it require a complete replacement, or is it something that can be fixed?… 🤔

    • @CameraRestore
      @CameraRestore  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The top control wheel most of the time is fixable, unless there is a water damage or damaged contact brush. A good clean with some good quality contact cleaner will solve the problem. Regarding the rubber, the main reason why it slips is because of the oils from our hands, it expands the rubber. I didn’t try to fix it, specially when I do repairs but as an alternative solution I would try to add some shoe repair glue underneath the rubber piece. The rubber mounts like a bike tire so to speak, over the plastic wheel. But again, I’ll do this only if would be mine…
      If you need the part I might have it.
      Cheers
