I am a long time Michigan fan and yes our team lost 17 players, our HC and the bulk of the coaching staff. It's been a tough season thus far and one can certainly understand how the media pundits don't feel we have a chance. I'll be at the game and I love watching a big game against USC which is a long time rival. I am realistic but don't count the Wolverines out quite yet. Go Blue!

You must not have watched any of the Michigan football games this year in order to say that Michigan's past protection is good. The right side of the offensive line is a freaking disaster. Evan Link is absolutely horrendous. He's been pancake multiple times in three games
In addition to you pointing out that USC held Utah State to zero, note that Utah gave up 21 points to Utah State. For USC it’s great defense and hopefully they will continue as they move ahead.

A lot of people over think this kind of stuff. It's pretty easy. Even the hardcore Michigan fans need to realize that more than likely Michigan is not going to win this game. Alex Orji is starting his first ever game, and it's against an undefeated USC team. He's going to have mistakes, misreads, etc.
I would expect the offense to be more productive, but I'm sure little mistakes are going to keep them behind. It's good to put Alex as a starter, and get him more experience. They need to do the same with the younger guys.

USC will load the box and force that QB that cannot throw the ball try to win with the pass. Miller Moss and his receivers will have their way with Michigan suspect DBS. USC has a far better coaching staff as well. USC wins 35-10. ✌🏽
There's really nothing suspect about Michigan's DBs - they're elite. Texas has maybe the best WRs in college, and they attacked the LBs and didn't even throw at Will Johnson. The LBs are the weakness in Michigan's defense. Short slants and misdirection has them frequently on the wrong assignments.

This is how I know you don't know football. They could have one of the top defenses in college. The scheme is not though if they still had Minter as the defensive coordinator they would be 1 or 2. But they're not proven facts three first day first-round draft picks defensively. Look at Baker Mayfield Cleveland's scheme did not suit him at all. Now he is at Tampa killing it. Do I think Michigan will win no but for you to say their DBs are suspect. You must not watch college football that much. You would probably say that Joe Burrow should stayed at Ohio I bet. 😂
Loading the box is exactly what they want, and expect. They'll be running a spread option / rpo style of offense. So when they load the box that opens up the short passing game. Like hitting the TE's, and HB's in the flats. Michigan has one of the best TE's in the game, and Donovan Warren is great at catching in the backfield.
Now with that said, Michigan still won't win, but their offense should be more productive. Alex Orji Is starting his first game ever, so he's 100% going to make a lot of mistakes, and misreads. That's the experience he needs, and the offense as a whole.

He's a running quarterback, not some precision pinpoint accuracy pocket passer. Players like Vince Young have the same type of statistics.
Football guys really need to stop looking that dude's like this with tunnel vision. They're dual threat. It opens up the run game even more and spreads it out. It also opens up the short and medium passing game. His first start as a QB is against USC. He's going to make mistakes, and Michigan is not going to win, but if the offensive line is at least a little bit better, the offense should be more productive.

It's funny these two dudes are talking about USC’s defense over the Michigans. Grant and Ghram are beasts. The problem is Wink was and is a horrible defensive coordinator hire. He doesn't stunt twist anything. A USC’s defense mirrors Michigans last year scheme wise. You know who does not mirror their own defense Michigan? Wink is stubborn and feels like some way on not changing.

It's a field position game. Should be lots of short fields for USC's offense. Hard to see Michigan with sustained drives. The game will be played at Michigan's end of the field.

How smart is this guy? Alex Orji is not a thrower? He certainly is not a thrower; You throw rocks! Michigan identity is running the ball, and they will be very happy to run the ball down USC’s throat! Had the coaches accepted that they are a running team, Michigan would not have lost to Texas. I did not see a Texas domination of Michigan. Texas Got 3 interceptions against Michigan, not because of a dominate defense, but, because of a quarterback that should never have been the starter. I was not impressed, Texas only got 31 points against Michigan, as badly as Michigan played Texas should have gotten more if they are as good as they think they are. Michigan wins at home against the USC Trojans.

You will get a different Michigan this Saturday. Heavy run oriented with strategic passing, play action, and QB draw concepts. Thanks for your thoughts. I get it. I think Vegas fears the home dogs. They look how ugly Kentucky looked against S Carolina in a blow out and then Kentucky used a methodical run game plan to make Georgia look human and unable to get their defense off the field the next weekend.

I think this will be closer than people think. USC should and probably will win the game. Eventually tho Michigan has to at least fight, even the worst teams put up random fights at home a couple times a year. Maybe this is it

I'm sold on USCs QB but I'm still not buying them having an outstanding defense but they can prove it Saturday or at least show it but I do think USC is definitely better than Michigan but as good as Texas is a bit of a stretch to me

I am a diehard Trojans fan and I believe we will beat Michigan. However, SC has a history of getting lit up by unknown or freshman quarterbacks. I don't know why, but it just happens. I hope that curse doesn't apply on Saturday.

SC has 9 “300 pounders” to throw at that Michigan run game. With 265 to 275lbs coming off the edge. Old BIG10 heads can continue to talk that “smash mouth” football talk all they want. But if Michigan thinks that they can just line up and play 3 yards and a cloud of dust football they just might get shut out. They better be able to pass the ball if they want a chance to win this game.
And yet they did exactly that, with no passing game at all.
With Michigan, if Alex Orji and Michigan run the ball 50 plus times and just throw maybe 15 times with short passes and go for it on 4th down Michigan can control the game and win. But we will see. Run the triple option and stun USC or the read option can work also.

Michigan is going to have to pass through ball to win this game. Against offenses like Texas and USC you have to be able to put up points. And USC’s defensive strength appears to be against the run. Michigan’s offense looks very pedestrian.

The defense can only improve so much from one season to the next, and USC had one of the worst last year. It will be a crappy Michigan offense vs a crappy USC defense. The other side of the ball is much more interesting.
