Hi Patrice, thanks for another great and informative video. I can't wrap my head around there not being any poly coating on the Birch because I didn't think sublimation worked in the absence of a poly coating. Do you think this means the transfer will fade unless a coating is added after the sublimation?
Hi Matt! Thanks so much for watching! I suppose time will tell. I will certainly do a follow-up. I subbed on a smaller piece of birch wood. I then submerged it into water for about 2 hours (I actually forgot I put it in water). There was no fading, bleeding or distortion of the image. Of course, I do think more testing of elements should be done to be 100% sure that it withstands without a poly coating.
Hi Matt have you subbed wood with Poly first,”? I would love to know Craftable things- do you put polycrylic on top of your subbed wood rounds? I’m interested in knowing? Have you ever used polycrylic first?
Hey hey hey, they both came out great!!! Just ordered my wood rounds and I'm so glad you did this video because using polycrylic on wood and needing a damp cloth to remove stuck on paper.....I just couldn't.
I can't wait to try this tomorrow! I've been so disappointed with all the poly tests I've done on wood, I didn't even think of just leaving the birch wood as is!!!!
thank you for the tutorial I've used wood with poly and then placed vinly on it ....i never thought about sublimation i will try it thanks again. i also subscribed and hit that like button today..looking forward to more tutorials 😀
This is awesome!!! I bet you could use a spray sealer after subbing and it could help it withstand the elements. I am definitely going to try this. Thanks again, Patrice 😊
another great vid butterfly....wonder if putting a spray clear coat on the finished product would increase the resistance to UV fading of the image if it was for an outside use. Even inside I think the clear coat would give the image some pop...take care.
Hi Patrice, I would like to ask if it's possible to give the panel wood a white background before sub how would I go about it, like what paint can I use to get a good finish quality?
Thanks for the video. I had subbed on a birch piece before seeing your video and had some feathering/bleeding into the grain of the wood. Does your finished pieces have any? Thank you.
I Cheryl! It could be the wood product. I did not experience any feathering with these rounds. However, subbed a piece of birch from Hobby Lobby and I did.
@@CraftableThings you’re welcome! Hey I’ve been thinking about starting my TH-cam channel. What camera do you use? And what software do you use to edit your videos? I hope I’m not being too nosey
@@Reneekelley68 Of course. you're not being too nosey!!! This is exciting! I first started out using my iPhone 11 camera. Now, I'm using a Canon EOS M50. I edit using iMovie. I have Adobe Premiere Pro that I've been telling myself that I'm going to master for months. However, it's pretty intimidating.
@@CraftableThings thanks for the info! I’m seriously thinking about it. I’ve bought a few things to get started but I’m so scared! I’ve looked into Filmora for editing because I’ve heard Premiere can be pretty intimidating.
This may have been said already, but the box may have needed to be filled (stack of cardboard, or whatever) so it would have more support during the press.
Hi...it's a gradient background that I placed inside of the words. There isn't a color code. www.google.com/search?q=gold+gradient&safe=strict&client=safari&rls=en&sxsrf=ALeKk02H8kCaTNvpvLyLoyXnYlSgGKk5JQ:1615064190516&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjjvPX6xpzvAhWIo1kKHeXwDuIQ_AUoAXoECBAQAw&biw=1257&bih=721
I usually press wood higher. All wood cannot be subbed, though. So that would determine if I use a poly spray of laminate before pressing. If it can be subbed on, I usually spay with a clear acrylic sealer if it will be used indoors or a UV resistance sealer if it will be used outdoors.
Mine didn’t turn out so great, I think because there is a little raised area. So it didn’t get enough pressure, I’m not giving up gonna try on a piece that’s nice and flat like your round piece.

Wow! I'm impressed! Thanks so much for showing that it really does work!!

This is the video I was looking for. I am super excited to try out my new printer and heat press :D

THANKS for the Amazing tutorial!! Honestly SpINKing Sublimation Paper is a GREAT Product!!
We just got a press and a sub printer! I am so excited that we can press on wood! That is amazing!
awesome!!! Sublimation is addictive!
May I ask, what program are you using to make your design?
Yes the book came out better than I thought it would. Good job
A very nice video.
Question: Did you sublimate the wood directly - without sublimation spray?
Or is the wood already coated for sublimation?
Please see the first five minutes of the video and the links in the description. All of those questions are answered. Thanks for watching!

A clear coat would be perfect and that would definitely provide longevity. Thanks, Larry!
Great to see this can be done. I just wonder if it will holdup???
I wondered the same thing. I actually soaked a smaller piece in water for a few hours and no changes to the color or bleeding.
Thank you for the great video!
I tried it and it’s FANTASTIC!!

No…that was screen print.
Could you add a sublimation to an already (Painted) piece of wood?
you can...you have to laminate it first and then sublimate.
Thank you for great video.
Thank you for watching and always supporting my channel 💕
Awesome!!

Can u water sublimate on wood also
Do you mirror then print?
yes
Where it didnt get all the way at the bottom, possible sand the edges all the way around to get an even faded look. Maybe , maybe not but its an idea.
Do u think they can be sealed with some type of waterproof sealer or varnish so signs can be used outdoors? Ty so much🙏
Yes!!! It will work.
