This was the closest to Metroid we had on the Master System, and not only did it a damn good job at being like Metroid, but being a good game in its own right. SEGA should bring this series back.
The problem is that this game was good..the sequel wasn't that great.
the sequel was awesomr in its way but dont forget the 1st one also have major Impossible mission vibe
Doesn't have to be Sega anymore to remix or revive this game, it's also a cartoon series, could'vebeena 3D VR RPG or First-person play , the song track bgm origated by a female japanese music artist, a song called PUSH.
If they did it would probably sell like crap and would be a big financial loss for the company. How many people out there are hard core gamers like you and I that even know this game exists?
Yup. I was in love with the music in this game as a kid. And to be perfectly honest I never got to play Metroid as a kid.

Very commendable 8-bit version of the anime's opening. Just listen to how accurate and organised the entirety of this tune is. The composer outdid himself.
As scaled back as this sounds, it still has a lot of soul.

My childhood!!!!! Me and my cousins would play this for hours, finish the game, and play it all over again. Zillion 2 was just as awesome

That's what I miss the most from today's games: A good soundtrack. Except from castlevania and some other rare exceptions, modern games lack this emotional, well crafted music... If it was not the soundtrack, I wouldn't even remember some games. Zillion rocks.
Michael Beard's front room in the 80s, 3 or 4 of cross-legged on the carpet, within blinding-range of the TV, taking turns to play this game while his mum made Pot Noodles for us. Growing up on a council estate in London was not always bad.

At the time I thought it was the Saber Rider And The Star Sheriff video game, everything was similar from the characters to the ship.
But the gameplay... aarrgghh!!!

Awesome! I always thought the music for Zillion rocked, but it wasn't until year later that I found that they were based on the Anime sound track...some of which had vocals!

This brings back so many good memories playing Zillion with my dad, I on the controller and
him mapping out the mazes in the grid section of the game manual.
Pure Stone, to this day is one of my all time favorite video game tracks.

BabyFacedAssassin301 it’s actually not that hard if you have a map. I never beat it when i was a kid but recently I played it on emulator with a map and beat it on the first try. This game brings back memories.

I would not worry about languages. Today, we can type on our native languages and just translate in any website or software. The translation given might not be perfect, but one can get the main point of the text.

all you needed for this game was a pen and some paper to write down the symbols, those where the days.
i'm home fellow nerds! i remember this and thought the soundtrack was stellar. Now i'm older and its not the 80's.Theres still a play for it in my heart though hahaah!

First played when I was I think 15, and I'm 18 now. I didn't have a SEGA Master System until I was 14, but had a Genesis from birth. I have to say, this is a WAY better game than the original Metroid for the NES, so much better design and gameplay. If only Zillion 2 was this good. Have you watched the anime by the way?

Pretty awesome chiptune version of the opening. This game, Sonic, Astro Warrior and Phantasy Star makes me like the american sms sound chip more than the nes and than the mark-III.
