Hi Heather, my wife and I are repairing/renovating our MPG 181 ultralight that had extensive water damage on the floor and lower wall sections (front and back). We've found that the hold-down bolts on the front 1/4 or so of the walls (both sides and front) have come loose. So you can literally push on the front of the camper and "wiggle" it side to side. Advice on how to best re-secure the aluminum studded walls to the base frame? We've already replaced the floor with new foam, plywood, and vinyl flooring... Your videos are great - thanks for all your work!!
You are one smart diy lady amazing how much damage can be done in the walls, I eventually have to do some similar repairs on my parents fleetwood prowler they passed years ago though it has some ceiling & wall issues but eventually I need to first start with the roofing had some light leaks want to go with tpo rather then the epdm that doesnt last long.
Hi. I need help. I have Foam installation and i Cant get my floor level. I bought a 06 Fleetwood orbit and it has bad Water damage Also i repaired the slide but now cant get it back in. HELP ME PLEASE. IVE LEARNED EVERYTHING FROM YOUR VIDEOS. LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM
Hey there! I have almost the exact same situation with my rv and I am talking to someone local to get it fixed. Just out of curiosity I was wondering what do you charge for a fix like this? Thank you!
Some of these campers have panlibg glued to both sides n the outside can be rotted n u may not see it. In ny case my class c did n i cyt a square out to see what was behind the foam insulation n that was the case. My kitchen floor is all new had carpet n laminate but my wall clearly is sagging cuz my sink n counter stove are all on an angle like it slipped away from the wall an inch unless whoever did the corner repair dudnt put it ack right. But as i said the floor looked new from the store straight thru. Its 30 ft. Its gotme frustrated. The stairs are also crooked but its all not soft. Im rippin it apart come spring
You can, but it’s a catch 22 of the foam is glued to the inside of the fiberglass wall. If you take the foam off and the inside wall is rotten, you’ll have to scrape that wood off. If you take the foam off and it’s not rotten, you’ve just compromised the integrity of that wall even more. It’s messy and hard work either way 😂
Liquid nails takes a lot longer to dry, which is why I don’t use it. You can, but you’d have to make sure to clamp every part of the panel against something to make sure it adheres evenly, which isn’t really easy to do
Hi Fallen! I’m working on removing water damaged panels on a 1995 class c rv. I’m finding that removing the water damage areas is pretty easy (as the wood is rotten) but the parts of the panels that are not water damaged are a major pain to get off. I want to remove the whole panels to keep the seams to a minimum (looks nicer). Any pro tips on removing these areas? Currently using a multi-tool, crow bar/hammer, sheer grit and determination.
That’s your best bet unfortunately. With foam walls, sometimes I can slide my multi tool blade under the panel to get the edge unglued and gently pull. Sometimes you’ll get lucky and it’ll come right off with minimal wall damage, other times it won’t and it’s more tedious. It’s all about the luck of the draw 😂
Hey Heather! As always, your videos are amazing (: quick question: I am repairing my hybrid and I discovered water damage across the bottom of the front pop out bed about 10” up. I removed all damaged wood and foam, but am I okay to just replace the damaged foam and lauan in that area or do I need to do all of it? There is no delamination and the metal frame is fine. I can’t find any videos you’ve done on this subject. Thanks so much ❤
Totally fine to just replace that area if everything else is good. The only reason I remove 4ft sections is for aesthetics (basically less wall seams). I typically take the panel off to the closest seam and just replace the whole thing, if that makes sense 😂
hello, amazing video! i got a 1987 chevy class c rv and i have a few questions, if you dont mind - There’s a side opening on mine (metal bottom of the overhead cab is deattached from the side, leaving a (smaller) side hole that got all the wood wet) wood has been removed but what do you recommend? Screwing it together once the wood on the inside has been replaced, placing adhesive then going in with some sort of plastic bracket to prevent it in the future? or replacing the metal all together even if its a smaller opening ? im really lost and only have two other family members helping me - do you recommend taking out the front window on the overhead cab to prevent leaks all together? there’s a slight crack in mine which im assuming only aided in bringing in more water im starting nursing school in about 4-6 months and really bought this as a fun project to take on before i start. would love to hear your thoughts and chat :)
Man oh man, I needed this video a month ago lol! But I'm happy to see we did it pretty much how you did, even used the right adhesive!
Awesome!!
You are just amazing !

Oof, sorry for the echo on a few of those videos 😵💫

Thanks for the video lots of good information. How did you deal with the delaminating on the exterior?
I’m actually working on a video right now for that! It’ll be about delamination on the front and on the side of a camper
I have a nailer but how do I know if its good enough for the aluminum frame I have and which size
nails/brads do I need?

How did you put the window back on?? Did you have to rebuild the frame and the reseal it?
Now, the delineation on the outside ?

Should you put anything on the frame after you rip everything off? Besides the bug spray.. anything to prevent water or moisture again or anything?
Maintenance and prevention is key…there’s not really a whole lot you can put on the frame to make it not rot from water damage
@@fallenintocamping interesting. I wouldn’t have thought so. Thanks so much!!
