Very atmospheric start to your wonderful video! What a great place to do astro and a 'platoon' of you too!! Must of been fun teaching the new recruits!! Welcome to the 'Dark Side' and clouds too!!! Keep them coming Paul. :)😀
No hills! Wow, awesome location. Thank you for sharing the experience with us, Paul. Yes, am a sucker for grim, eerie black and white with foreboding soundtrack :)
Thanks Paul. I’m very conscious that nearly all my videos are from completely flat landscapes! Looking forward to some hills later in the year. Not sure the foreboding soundtrack would work in most of my locations though! Thanks for watching. 👍
Thank you Paul what a wonderful journal this one was. The opening to the journal was amazing, full of suspense, speilberg better watch himself, loved it. I expect the participants of the workshop have been brimming with knowledge after spending the evening with yourself and learnt so much, hopefully a few have caught the Widefield astrophotography bug now. Beautiful images of a very eerie but stunning location and buildings. Thank you again for taking on us your passionate journal entry. Clear skies
Thanks so much, Lee - really appreciated. It was an amazing location and I felt very lucky to be able to there; it was fun to try to convey the atmosphere of the place. Thanks for your support.
Awesome job Paul! New job mate, TV Documentary presenter! Enjoyed that, the intro was excellent, what a unique place to photograph from! Looked like you all had fun out there! Shame about the clouds later on, but the images you got were excellent as always! Thanks for sharing Paul, clear skies mate👍
🤣🤣🤣 I don’t know how their shots aren’t all over-exposed! Hopefully so - people seemed to enjoy the adventure, which is the main thing. Thanks for your ongoing support. 👍
Ha ha, thanks Scott. I enjoyed making that intro - a bit different to the usual “Paul walking up to a gate, through a gate, and past the camera” vibes!!
So cool you got to spend a night at such a special place! I'd imagine you also making an awesome guide. Appreciate the extra background story also. And as always, great results! Hope the participants as well.
Thanks Jeroen - it was a really enjoyable night. The participants were great - some fantastic photographers among them. One lady even spent the night shooting absolute bangers with her mobile phone!
@@nightscapejournals oh really? Cool she even got some nice shots with a phone even. I did laugh btw at 'some people even went out during the daytime' 🤣
Excellent video Paul. That's a fascinating place albeit slightly creepy! It's a pity the weather didn't cooperate a bit more but fantastic shots all the same.
Thanks, Derek - appreciated. Great that you've done a day trip there. If you keep an eye on their website I'm hoping you'll see a few more overnight experiences pop up. I think there was a stargazing one scheduled for a week or so ago (not sure if it went ahead because of the weather), but it's something they appear to be increasingly open to, which is great.

Thanks, Geraint - very kind of you. Oh yes, I think they all learned how frustrating clouds can be!! Thanks for watching.

Amazing opportunity, and glad you managed a few shots amongst helping the others. Loved the cinematic intro😊
Thanks James. Making the intro was quite fun!
Great video Paul, and great atmosphere.
Beautiful shots at the end.
Thank you, Massimo - really appreciated.
What a unique opportunity, love the images you managed to come away with 😍. And how much fun did you have creating that intro, awesome work 👏👏👏
Thanks Greg - very kind. The intro was a lot of fun (although definitely stretched my basic Premiere Pro skills!!). Really enjoyable night.

Weirdo’s taking photographs in daylight! What a fantastic opportunity hopefully you converted a few to the darker side of life.

That intro was ridiculous Paul. Blown away!

Thanks Pete. Yes, creepy but it certainly was but also teeming with birdlife. I’ve really not been anywhere like it before.
Wow, that intro alone was worth a sub! Too bad I was already subbed 😉
Ha ha, thanks Martin - very kind. Glad you are!!
Great video again I’ve done a guided day trip a few years ago. Would love to join a workshop there but I guess it’s a secret aswell ?!
