      For BTS songs,the more the song sounds funnier or hyped, they are more deep in meaning. For example, Ddaeng,Baepsae,Spine Breaker...This is why I fell in love with BTS💜 I really like your reactions. I am glad I found your channel. Keep up the good work.💜👍

    90% of BTS songs have deeper meaning that what the music may lead you to believe. It’s always good to look at the lyrics and explanations video because if you aren’t a native Korean speaker you can’t appreciate the word play and complexity of their lyrics. You should try listening to their Cyphers 1-4 you’ll definitely get hyped with those. And try watching Cypher medley live🤯

    "Ddaeng" is another rapline song that is 🔥. DKDKTV does a explanation video for that one, as well as a lot of other BTS songs. "Baepsae" is another one, and it includes the entire group.
    Also recommend "Daechwita" by AGUST D; AGUST D is another name used by SUGA when he's working on solo projects outside of BTS.
    "Daechwita" has an excellent music video; "Ddaeng" and "Baepsae" have some amazing live performance. All three have DKDKTV explanation videos. There are a lot more, but I think you'll enjoy these ones to start. 💜

    Almost all of BTS's songs have an important message that's why we love to read the lyrics of their songs. "I didn't expect this song to be that deep" - yes, this is what we hear time and time again (and what I used to think/asume before getting to know them) about BTS' music. I'm really enjoying your reactions. I love that this gives you a peek into why BTS is so often being mislabeled as pure bubblegum pop without substans by people who haven't yet given them the time, but why we ARMY keep saying "they're more than what meets the eye", "they'll surprise you" and "just wait" - and my favorite "put on captions" haha. I understand, because I asumed the same at first. But man... If you do like Yoongi said "listen without prejudice" and do a little deep dive like you did with explanation video (aka fan theory), you're in for a treat. Thank you for your time and energy. Sorry about my long rant - I guess I felt inspired after this.

    • @Lovmyself
      @Lovmyself 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess now you know even more that when you repeatedly get a suggestion from Army it usually turns out Army knows what they're talking about lol

    • @Lovmyself
      @Lovmyself 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What is fan theory please?

    • @MM-et2jr
      @MM-et2jr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Lovmyself I call it fan theory, because BTS rarely tell us exactly what the song is meant to mean and what mv is supposed to be - they told us they do this on purpose, so that their music and art can mean whatever you want and need it to be. This is also why they stopped singing about "her" and now use "you" instead. It allows the listener and viewer to be creative, and find your own meaning. So when ARMY tries to dissect an mv by BTS we look at all the clues they give us - the storyline throughout their albums, historic/art/music/literary etc. references. E.g. all the paintings in Blood Sweat and Tears - what do they mean, what does the Nietzsche quote mean, why did they put fog in there, which colours/lighting is used and does that hold a meaning - we combine all the information we find to figure out what the possible intention behind the mv/song is.
      So in short: I call it a fan theory because the explanation is not confirmed by those who made it. But it is as close as we get to knowing what the explanation behind the video is.
      Does this makes sense? Sorry, I couldn't find the right words.

    I love J-hope's part too - third guy- it makes me bang my head no matter where I'm or what I'm doing! and his live performance is always 150%. His delivery, flow is TASTYYYY and stage presence out of the roof.
    back to BTS, their songs are the real deal ppl tend to think very low of them but in fact I've had the best time reading and analyzing song lyrics since I discovered them. Especially rap-line's solos all three have mixtapes/albums and it is MUCH better than we hear here in the radio but i gotta say it takes more than reading translation to get to the bottom of it bcs meaning can get lost on translation real easy esp from KOREAN to ENG but it is WORTH it.
    If you are willing to get to know them I'd suggest to keep going with group works and when you know them enough dive into their solos and you have my word that YOU WILL ENJOY IT.

    David of DKDKTV is ARMY (big fan of BTS). 💜 I love their explanations of songs like IDOL, Spring Day, and ON I always check to see if they have an explanation of a song cuz of how well they do them.
    Spring Day is interesting because the MV is full of meaningful symbolism pertaining to a particular S Korean tragedy while the song itself addresses different aspects of love and loss. Their MV's often bring depth to their songs the casual listener might miss.

    yeah they do this. It is actually a pretty good explanation of what BTS actually is. Songs with catchy beats and tunes, but when you dig into the lyrics you find such a deep depository of ideas and meaningfull messsages. Plus it is always a good thing to remember that majority of these lyrics are written by the rapline and all of them are pretty smart, with RM´ s IQ of 148 he is in the honest to goodness genius category.
    My personal favourite is Baepsae, one of their catchiest songs with awesome fun choreo, hiding in the lyrics a very biting social commentary about the generational gap and disproportionate distribution of wealth.

    With BTS the lyrics are a huge part of their succes. The music is awesome but their wordplay and message is really on another level.
    DKDKTV is definitely the best channel for explanation on cultural references, if it's a song based on psychology Bookish Theories is better and if it's a song related to their fictional storyline (aka the Bangtan Universe, marked BU in the description) or about the group itself XCeleste is definitely where to go. If you mention a song in advance ARMY will be more than happy to guide you.
    Based on your music taste I'd suggest the rap line songs Cypher 1-4, Ddaeng (+DKDKTV), Outro: Tear live from Wembley stadium or these solo projects from the rappers:
    RM - Joke, Do You, Monster
    Suga (aka Agust D) - Agust D, Give It To Me, Daechwita
    J-Hope - More, Arson, Baseline

    I enjoyed your response to UGH very much. For me UGH encapsulates why so many people love and support BTS, which has nothing to do with their astonishing stage presence and performance skills - their lyrics have lots of layers of meaning, so they never get old; and they engage with ARMY on issues of global importance, challenging everyone to do their best wherever they are to create a better world for everyone. And it is often packaged, yes, in a bop of a song, but the message sneaks up on you if you pay attention (as you did today, by watching the DKDKTV explanation) and then wham! 😄UGH ties in very nicely with something RM (Kim Namjoon) mentioned in their online MAP of the SOUL concert which has always stuck with me: “The ARMYs I know, and the BTS you all know - we’re all strong; we’ll find a way, we always have. If there’s no way - let’s draw the map, the whole map, again.” Once again, challenging anyone who is open to the challenge, to do what you can where you are. Thank you for your openness in trying out new musicians. I appreciate that when you don't like something you give us a breakdown on why you don't, rather than pretending you do. And I appreciate your reactions to BTS because of this.

    Loved your reaction, BTS is exactly this: catchy rhythms + deep messages or, as during pandemic, positive vibes. First time I watch you, so I don't know if you reacted more songs, but they deserve a lot of attention because of the high quality of their work. All of them are good singers, dancers, songwriters, producers and entertainers. They worked hard to be what they are nowadays, their path wasn't easy, they came from being dreaming teenagers to the biggest band in the world.
    They have more than 400 songs, of diverse styles mixed, as a group or unit (solos, rapline, vocal line) or even other configurations.
    I would recommend you: On Kinetic Manifesto, Dope, Fire, Danger and Black Swan to start. Oh! You said you heard Ugh in the Festa room! Good thing! This rabbit hole is deeeeeep and the more you dig, the more you love it! Believe me! I'm 65 and fell in it last year, I've been hearing them every single day and I still lack some songs...

    I love that you watched the dldktv video too! They're amazing and I've always loved their explanations. Like I've mentioned in my comment in the Bad Omens video, I absolutely love the diversity of the music (and I'm still shook at how fast and well I went from Artificial Suicide to this) and honestly, that's what music is all about. Crossing borders, transcending languages and genres, capturing peoples thoughts and feelings, and making people feel seen, heard and acknowledged. BTS and Bad Omens do that, in different ways and with different focuses but the point is still there. You either connect with a song right away, or you feel and understand them/their feelings through the art they put out.
    Thank you for your amazing reactions and your thoughts about everything! It's refreshing to see someone actually take the time to think and review what they've seen!
    You might (/probably will) be seeing more of my comments over the next few hours 😂🙈

    Sean, I love your intro and outro. 👍 Great reaction, btw. Also, DKDKTV is great, but since they don't have vids for all BTS songs, you'll often need lyric videos. In that case, please remember that the lyric videos by Jaeguchi and Lemoring are sometimes very inaccurate and sloppily done, butchering the song. On the other hand, "Doolset bangtan" translations don't have TH-cam videos, but they're usually far more accurate and might even include side notes. Enjoyed your reaction today; glad I decided to subscribe. 🌺

    I’m so glad you took the time to watch the explanation, lyrics are really what
    turned me into an army, coming from the pop punk world, I was floored once I started my lyrical deep dive. All three of the rapline contribute lyrics across almost the emote discography, which is over 200+ songs, each of them has a different perspective and style (very apparent in cyphers 1-4). also namjoon has an IQ of 148 so don’t feel bad if some of his poetry gives over your head 😅
    A few of my recs for solo rapline songs:
    Intro nevermind, intro persona, intro boy meets evil, intro persona…
    Another great resource for lyrics that adds Korean context is doolset bangtan if there aren’t any explanation videos for some songs!
    You’ve got a long journey ahead, welcome to the rabbithole.

    Wow! Thank you so much for watching and sharing the second video with us! What a well-done educational video. I learned so much. I respect BTS so much for soant reasons and the heart and intelligence they put into their song lyrics along with how clever and inspiring they are has earned my utmost respect.
    Also, I really enjoy your reaction videos. I always gain a different perspective, which is why I love reaction videos, and it's very gratifying to enjoy good music with you. The respect you give the artists and the the encouragement you give your audience to do the same is admirable. Thank you. 🙏😁

They had a world tour scheduled for 2020 but it had to be cancelled so they did this 2-day concert online

    You should also check out:
    BTS - Ddaeng
    Agust D - Daechwita
    RM - Joke
    J-hope - More
    In Ugh, the order of the rappers is Suga, RM, J-hope. Suga goes by Agust D when he does his solo stuff.
    The first two have DKDKTV explanation videos, but all these songs really showcase what they can do as the rap line of BTS, and as individuals.
    Also, not sure if anyone told you in other comments, but RM and Suga were both underground hip-hop rappers before becoming Kpop Idols.

    Hi! Other song with also an explanation video would be Baepsae also named Silverspoon. It is a whole group song. The live to that is also a good one!
    Edit. The lives might get blocked tho, lyrics videos are also a possibility to listen the song the first time. Good channels for those are af taehyung and DIAL6137. All Bts music videos have lyrics, besides few first ones.

    [24:20] "be sure to support the artist.." We jusy casually lifted Dynamite back to N:o1 for it's 2nd birthday .. That is what we do.
    BTS leader RM is now at the top of world's most handsome men list by TC Candler. I casually mentioned that as we have time until December when the final results are in, we could vote BTS into top 7 places in fanchant order : RM, Jin, Suga, J-hope, Jimin, Tae (who has at least 15 most handsome listings under his belt {honestly not sure if he won them all, but he should have}) and Jungkook.. Will see ;) there is over 100. million of us.. we can do anything, ofcourse most of us should realize we actually could turn that energy to save the planet.. Instead of putting BTS into most handsome lists..

    It's most of their fun and catchy songs that have deep meanings. A song may sound like it's just a fun song just for vibes, but as you dive deeper and go beyond the surface, you will find that it's actually deep and meaningful. I like saying that BTS make meaningful bops. Even for some songs with lyrics that seem simple, some have deeper meanings as you dig deeper. And they touch on a variety of topics, ranging from societal expectations, marxism, capitalism, socio-economic injustices, psychology, mental health issues, self-reflection, self-love, romance, etc. And their lyrics are often multi-layered, and that's why there are explanation videos for their songs like this one. Their lyrics are more nuanced and deeper in Korean.....the lyrics become over-simplified when translated to English because most times their lyrics are very poetic that it's hard to find English words that equivalate to them. A lot of beauty and poetry gets lost in translation. Even the lyric translations on their official music videos are sometimes just watered down and over-simplified, so explanation videos really help to unpack how deep their lyrics are actually. Going forward, for future BTS songs, I recommend you do the song, then an explanation video (if it's available, because not all their songs have explanation videos). I recommend the following channels for breakdowns and explanations:
    1. "Bookish Theories"(this channel even has explanations of "Black swan" and "ON" music videos. But for ON I think you will have to watch the DKDKTV explanation first to get a foundation of Carl Jung's psychological concept of the shadow as they explained it vey nicely but Bookish Theories explained the song more extensively. You can check them out. They're so good.)
    2. "DKDKTV"
    3."xCeleste"

  • @brionyfakatou1620
    @brionyfakatou1620 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    They have another song Baepsae, with another DKDKTV breakdown that is another one that has a great meaning in a great song. But just so you know, Baepsae is the Korean name for a bird, which is a metaphor for the millennial generation. However, that bird’s name has a very unfortunate English translation. You might also like Daechwita, which is a solo song for Agust D, one of the BTS rappers. DKDK TV has an explanation video for that one as well, but I prefer the Daechwita explanation video from Bookish Theories for that song.

    The pandemic robbed us of most live performances for this song. This live performance is one of the few, and it's from an online concert that they did when their world tour was cancelled, so there isn't a live audience. They still have high energy, and this is a great performance, but BTS feeds off the energy of the audience so well, I miss what coud have been.

    Daeng is another rap line song that has a an explanation. But it’s more like a diss rap I believe. Deepest is Spring Day. It’s not a fast song, and you’ll understand when you watch the explanation by the italian army. But really, most of their songs have deeper meaning. Black swan, blood sweat and tears, etc. oh, and watch the live version of Tear (another rap line song). It’s a song they wrote when BTS was contemplating disbanding.

    BTS is so different from rest of kpop. whenever i see another band perform they look like dolls very stiff and pretty but they have no charm when they perform you don't know if they mean what they sing about you can´t feel the emotions. that is one thing i always appreciate about an artist. they have to feel what they sing about and they have to show personality. BTS does that and i think that´s why they are so popular compared to the rest. in kore however it´s not a good thing to be unique so BTS got alot of hate at the beginning. other artist would never ever be seen goofing around like that. the label keeps them totally spotless and clean so they look like Gods. BTS is human and a friend. you worship Gods but you love a friend. that´s how i see it.

    Everyone has mentioned Ddaeng already. I'll put in a pitch for Baepsae/Silver Spoon - and you really *really* need the explainer for that one. It's social commentary using Korean idioms and pretty hard to figure out from the outside. 🤣 A real favorite of mine!

    Almost all of BTS songs are like this... DEEP. They are fun to listen to and very catchy but they have a deeper meaning to them. That's what makes BTS different from a lot of other artistes and why ARMY love them so much. I really appreciate that you took the time to dive into the meaning of their lyrics and see what ARMYs have been saying over your last videos.
