Elevation rate is how fast the turret moves up and down play with the length and thickness of the gun till you get the highest rate also transmission and sprocket size effects the speed and rpms. There are multiple eras each have different limitations. While in the canon page you need to adjust the weight and size of the weapon so the blue line in the editor is basicly gone. Below on the right side you'll see the elevation rate and max depression your currnet gun is capable of. Also your tank is too long and makes it turn due to hills lol.
I love how the first scenario in this game is actually the hardest because of the rough terrain and limitations that WWI era puts on design. The equivalent of teaching kids to swim by tossing them from Niagara falls. It's still my favourite, but it's so funny none the less
Day 154: Phly, I challenge you to the conphusing aerial smokescreen challenge. Destroy three enemy aircrapht with smoke shells in a single game. Good luck. o7
Had these same issues with it when I was trying this level. What worked for me was building the dumbest, widest, longest destroyer with no turret and just sniping the AT guns from a long distance (which was a pain as the WWI era really doesn’t support long barrels hut
Sprocket is really really amazing, especially by one person I made so many cool tanks (atleast for me). But then you also then spend 7 and half hours researching engines and transmissions so a 50 ton vehicle can go at 50 kmh
When making your gun there is a blue line indicating how far off of center the mass of the gun is. Larger calliber and shell length increases the weight inside the turret, longer and thicker barrels increase the weight out front. The smaller the blue bar is the more ballanced your gun is allowing for better elevations. In "no tanks land" you are limited to WWI tech, meaning small +weak engine, max of 50mm armour, and no elevation/traverse motors (hand cranks only)
This game has so much potential. Imagine if you could build tanks and take them into multiplayer arenas to face off against other player’s tanks. some notes about for better terrain: engine more displacement more power, watch out the RPMs though bigger the sprocket more torque suspension you need a longer suspension travel so the tank doesn't stand in only one wheel. also bigger using wheels help a lot. with that i've made tanks that GLIDE over that map, however shell craters are still tank traps.

There are no curses on the hills. It's just that the exhaust lets you specify where your engine is located. The big orange circle in the editor is your engine. What you did is placing two exhausts on the left side, which told the game that the engine is located mostly on the left side of the tank, which left the right side empty and lighter. That is why gravity pulled you into the hole and made you turn left at every opportunity. If you were to place one of the exhausts on the other side of the tank or toggle mirror mode for the exhausts, the engine will be centered, and that problem would be solved.
Phly, advice from a week time player: Nº tanks land is the hardest mission It's so hard. U must design actual ww1 tank, with high big tracks. And about the gun: Depending on ur engine size and ur gun weight, ull have an elevation rate, in °. If the number is negative, ur gun is too heavy, if it is very low, below 1°, it's too heavy too. To ww1, 30mm is enough, and increase ur Armour. In hull and turret there's a "Armour" option, Dat allows u to choose the thickness. U can only drag the bar up to 200mm, but if u press the number, u can write a number up to 500mm Edit: when in game, go to settings and key mapping, deres a bunch of useful keys u can learn and change, such as mirroring on/off, quiq go into battle (and come out of it), place and remove items...
Hey advice from someone that has played since release: The no tanks land scenario is in the ww1 era where a lot of tech simply doesn't exist. You don't have motorised turret traverse or gun elevation, so there's a little guy in there manhandling a crank, hence why the gun elevates so slowly. Make your turret smaller and make the gun barrel significantly thinner and stubby and you'll be able to actually aim. also, in the crew menu scroll down to your gunner and increase his allocated space to make him more efficient. ww1 era also doesn't have engines with more than 6 cylinders oh and when you placed the mantlet you still had the large mantlet selected, you need to right click to unselect and item before selecting another.. And you completely forgot to armor your tank. the game automatically armors the front but nothing else, hence why you were being oneshotted from the sides and by artillery. in the 'shape' menu you'll see a smaller submenu to the right to change the armor values.
Phly, your turret elevation speed can be adjusted in the "Firepower" menu, on the left. When you go to the Gun Mount, one of the sliders is "Torque". That is, to my understanding, the torque diverted from the engine to elevate the gun. Most of that also has to do with how you size your engine, how many gears you have in it, its displacement, as well as how you have the transmission set up. You also need to adjust the max RPM's for your engine so you don't burn it up. It's a lot to take in on a first try, but the game is so worth it! Best of luck! o7
So here's a tip about gun elevation. When you are messing with your gun stats, you can notice a blue line right at the breech. This blue line needs to be as small as possible. In order to do this, you need to mess with the SHELL LENGTH and the BARREL LENGTH. Hope this helps!

I want this game to be multiplayer. For years, I've been thinking about getting into game dev to make a game exactly like this, so it's nice to see it here and well on the way to be good.
I always feel that this is a bit of a all at once kind of thing. Its definitely pretty tough to wrap your head around the mechanics PLUS the first mission is definitely the hardest. Hope you do more on this game!
Phly and others that have sprocket currently, look into engine and transmission tutorial vids, helps you out tremendously. Once the basics are learned its just trial and error tweaking to get how you want it. But ill say it simply...engine displacement should be closer to 2Liters in most cases. Target rpm should be 3000-3200 generally if not a little lower. Transmission is actually easier than it seems. Lets say you have 5 gears, put first gear ratio to just over 5 and then click the n/1 button below last gear to balance them out. Also a motor that is too powerful will red line alot and burnout engine.
Haha soo good watching your learning process! :P For gun Balance, there is a little blue line in the editor, use the shell length and barrel thickness to mack that blue line very small. In the Tracks you can adjust the suspension strength, a soft suspension will help the track contact the ground better. If you want, watch some tutorials about suspension and gun design, helped me out heaps!
Now that the game will start to sell even more, I hope the dev (who is working on this game all by himself) doesn't feel too overwhelmed by the demands and bug reports. U guys should check the game's discord, specifically the roadmap he built up to keep things organized. You might also learn quite a bit on how everything works. Transmission is always a hot topic.
so hey, PHLY. if you dont want your engine to red line. set the displacment lower. around 3.0 the lower it is the higher MAX RPM limit your tank has. also. target max and target minimum RPM should be a couple hundread before your max and half way for you minimum. the reason you cant have more cylinders is because the tech is locked behind the senario. this one is set in WW1 so according to game logic 6 cylinders is all you get. the mid war and late war senarios allow for more advanced engines. hope it helps :P
I just found your channel man and I can’t stop watching. You’re freaking awesome, keep up the great work. Also Ik I’m late but congrats on being a dad!
"Terrain not responsive" that's because your tank is really long and not wide. It has no stability on hills and rough ground, so your tank is quite literally spinning on it's touch point with the ground when the rest of the tracks lose contact. That's why the tank is turning random directions
The driving is definitly better in the other scenarios. Keep in mind you played the WW1 scenario where there are only some techs available. Same problem with our gun elevation speed, a 50mm in WW1 is kinda much xD
If you have trouble with the turret elevation it usually gets fixed when you lower the starting thickness at the base of the barrel and/or the barrel with that at minimum you can have as long as a barrel as you want
Phly, u can power up the elevation and rotation of turret, the elevation is in firepower, gun mantle. U increase the torque inserted in the turet to increase the force of lift. To the turret rotation, go to turret, there's a "turret rotation", u must increase the torque to rotate faster
Phly's tank turning into the terrain is not a bug. He doesn't have enough traction, likely because his suspension is too stiff. Make the torsion bar as small as possible, then play with the length. This game is really challenging, but there's a great post in the steam community that will help you fix all the initial issues you'll run into as you learn the game. Hopefully the game will add some more instructional content before it comes out of beta.
T44-122 attempt 259, on base and then hit turret, that is where you find turret torque. That speeds up TV turret traverse, and length of shell and cannon barrel determine how fast of elevation rate.
i think map terrain just needs some reworking because it does that on one of the other maps too. also if you see that blue line where your cannon is when you're editing that is showing how far the center of mass is from the elevation motor, you want that blue line to not be visible to be dead center and that will give you the most gun elevation possible. also if you go onto other scenarios you get later tech so you can add more cylinders, thicker armor, bigger guns, etc., you were on ww1 era so you had almost no tech
This game is actually a lot of fun. I think it just needs some pop up tool tips to help explain some of the engine mechanics. At least after a couple attempts of driving out with the same issue. Also the transmission Phly is using in this video is the absolute worst. Almost always better off using clutch braking. The individual transmissions for each track seem to have a mind of their own when they encounter different levels of resistance and just spin around like Phly experiences
I would love for this game to be apart of the regular content on the channel once it comes out. At the very least come back to it occasionally

Hy makrel, the phly is venturing into the most humorous game I've seen in a minute. Good on you for taking the time .
This game has sooo much potential to become something big. Like could u imagine online gameplay against other players.
This has immediately become my favourite game in my library, it's everything I've ever wanted
Irl, that would not happen because the suspension would compress and the tank is very heavy.
14:45 Imagine playing WoT for 5+ years, having arti ptsd and then this happening to you on your first drive.
"You gotta be kidding me..."
😂😂what was that intro good job and great video 👍
Oh! SH!T! He Found It! Quickly Hide the Crazy Prototypes!
also... we can tell that he REALLY is holding back that maniacal laugh ( 7:21 )
The driving is definitly better in the other scenarios. Keep in mind you played the WW1 scenario where there are only some techs available. Same problem with our gun elevation speed, a 50mm in WW1 is kinda much xD
If you have trouble with the turret elevation it usually gets fixed when you lower the starting thickness at the base of the barrel and/or the barrel with that at minimum you can have as long as a barrel as you want
i love how most of his gameplay footage was him trying not to go into the foxholes
Phly, u can power up the elevation and rotation of turret, the elevation is in firepower, gun mantle. U increase the torque inserted in the turet to increase the force of lift. To the turret rotation, go to turret, there's a "turret rotation", u must increase the torque to rotate faster
I love that the Cursed by Design series became a name for this game.
Yea i can say that this is the only video of his that doesn't have a edited thumbnail, (those wacky acid trip tanks)
T44-122 attempt 259, on base and then hit turret, that is where you find turret torque. That speeds up TV turret traverse, and length of shell and cannon barrel determine how fast of elevation rate.
i would love to see Sprocket team up with gaijin to be able to import your own tank design and be able to make your own custom missions in war thunder
I’ve seen this game pop up on my feed and have been waiting for this video
i think map terrain just needs some reworking because it does that on one of the other maps too. also if you see that blue line where your cannon is when you're editing that is showing how far the center of mass is from the elevation motor, you want that blue line to not be visible to be dead center and that will give you the most gun elevation possible. also if you go onto other scenarios you get later tech so you can add more cylinders, thicker armor, bigger guns, etc., you were on ww1 era so you had almost no tech
I love how the engine sounds like a chainsaw XD
Tank players getting a hold of this game:"you don't know what beast you unleashed sprocket"
I would watch this as a series.
These is a really neat game, loads of shenanigans to do, amazing video phly!
