I like how Phly made the perfect transmission for late war Germany. We may only be able to go at one speed but we have 5 backups, just try and sabotage all 6 of the gears.

The reason it didn't fire is that in the crew tab you can select if a crew member is located in the hull or in the turret, and the gunner and loader were probably still set to turret. Also the numbers in transmission are the rotations of the engine to rotations to the wheel. so say your first gear is set to 6.53, it takes 6.53 rotations in the engine to 1 rotation on the output. You should lower the amount of rotations it makes per engine rotation the higher gear you go, so the drive sprocket turns faster and you go faster. This also prevents Over RPM'ing. The G/n thing does this for you
Also Phly, if you're reading this, there's an armor tab where you can change the thickness of the armor. It's located on the top of the base menus, and the turret can also be removed, just click "enabled" at the top of the menu but out of the armor tab.

Hatches? Optics? My crews don't need such weak points, drop the turret down on top of them and have them aim out a camera. No man will penetrate my mighty fortresses.
Slightly useful info:
-the Russian SU style mantlet has a built-in gunner sight!
-allocate maximum space for the crew to have maximum eFfIcIeNcY!
-some mantlets have azimuth rotation so the gun can aim left and right without a turret!

YES, another Sprocket video! Absolutely love this game! For the first (WW1) mission I built a giant landship, with a top speed of about 2-3 km/h, which was a lot of fun!
The first mission was hard and for some impossible. WW1 Technology sucks hard
@@zinox9262 Yeah, it took me absolutely ages, especially crossing trenches isn't easy. Pretty much all previous designs would get stuck or taken out by artillery, but somehow my behemoth managed to be victorious
@@kaih7647 I actually didn't have the problems other people faced. I've had a trench crossing tank with a top speed of 15 kmph and a semi good gun. Unfortunately I didn't have any room for much ammo or armour. That's why it took me as long as it took, bc every tank of mine was oneshot and couldn't pen the heavy enemy tanks.
Sad times, but now my tank design is superior to all of my past ones 😁

You can get better penetration out of the gun you had, by making the length of the shell longer in the firepower section, if you balance gun and shell length well you'll increase elevation speed too!
From the last sprocket video he made, I bought it and already have 13 hours on it 😂, it is now def one of my favorite games

Im in love with this game right now, really fun making a design and trying to maximize it.
TIPS for making a faster tank, depending on the weight, if its within 8 to 60 tons, start with a 4 cyclinder/2 liter engine for 8 tons (high speed memes) incrementing up to a 16 cylinder/3.5 liter engine (allows good steep slope climb). General rule for engine set ups is that (currently in the latest update) it`s best to have MAX RPM be between 2700 RPM and 3600 RPM, DISPLACEMENT is best between 2 liters and 4 liters, and CYLINDER count between 4 and 16, too much and you`ll need to add more gears which adds more weight, too little means reaching max speeds is almost impossible.
After finding an engine for the right weight, set the MAX TARGET RPM 100 less than your MAX RPM, and the MIN TARGET RPM at 2/3 the value of your MAX TARGET RPM (if MAX RPM = 3200rpm, then MAX TARGET = 3100rpm, MIN TARGET = 1800rpm to 2000rpm)
For setting up transmissions, its best to have at least 5 gears, for the 1st gear it`s best to not go over 6.0 or below 2.0. For the following gears, the easiest rule to follow is to half the previous gear for every next gear. (i.e. 1st gear = 6.0 then 2nd gear = 3, 3rd gear 1.5, 4th gear = 0.75, 5th gear = 0.3, 6th gear = 0.15/0.1)
If you find that your vehicle isn`t going fast at all, the problem almost always lies in transmission setup, using an online calculator makes it easier. Another issue is track and suspension setup, if your idler wheel or sprocket is too small or too big it won`t perform well, if the suspension is too stiff or too loose it will bounce too much or grip too little. Currently in the latest update wider wheels = faster, more ground pressure = better (might have been patched).
Note: in the engine settings, the option that specifies POWER @ ______ RPM is just a viewing value, meaning it has no effect on the vehicle, it just shows the energy or herspers (horsepower) produced at that RPM.

I would however like to leave this here, I found that for transmission tuning, having each gear 50% to 75% longer instead of twice as long worked better, so like instead of first being 6 then second being 3 etc, first being 6 then second being 3.5 or 4 then third being 2.33 etc worked a lot better, especially if you plan on running a low liter engine (under 2) in a heavier vehicle.

I'd like to add since new update (1.07), Sprocket and Idler Wheel size affects acceleration now (1.06 version didn't have effects) , smaller idler wheel increases friction resulting in lower acceleration but higher speed, smaller sprocket increases acceleration but decreases top speed, bigger sprocket increases top speed but decreases acceleration.
Up to your design if you want a high speed mbt or a quick climbing mountain goat of a light tank

little exploit to help with cursed tank design, if you make the front of your turret flat you can place the mantlet on it, then you can make the angle as steep as you want and the mantlet will stay on and work. so place mantlet, then change angle

I don’t think a longer gun always means higher muzzle velocity, at some point the amount of gas produced by the shell being fired will not be enough to give it more speed and the shell will just slow down inside the barrel. What matters more is the shell itself because depending on how it is made and the power of the explosion, it’ll propel it faster.

phly in this game, each scenario not only have weight limit, but gun trunnion motor are also limited so in the first scenarios you will only be able to use small short gun to simulate early war
while the last mission you will be able to max the armour value and have way bigger cannon.

Bought the game a day or two after the first video. I love it.
No Tanks Land, despite being the first scenario, is actually the most difficult. Most sprocket players recommend you complete the rest of the scenarios and then come back to No Tanks Land afterwards.
For the same mission Phly did, I actually went with a design similar to VK1602 Leopard, fast, nimble and a decent gun. I ended up smashing the enemy team, with additional tanks to support me.

Phly, easiest way to prevent over-revving is make your final gear # (3 or 6 or 12 etc) UNDER 1.0 (0.9 is pretty safe) this usually guarantees you wont over-rev at max. If you need to prevent over-revving at lower gears, adjust them closer and closer to 1. Thats why they give you the g1/n button, it takes your first gear # and divides it based on your gear count, but if you do that and the last gear is NOT under 1 you tend to over-rev.

Steve go to engine you will find max limit min limit those are the rpms that you will down shift or up shift. Be sure to add more gears if you're using twin transmission.

The gunner and the loader both have to be in the same part of the tank as the gun. When you put the gun on the hull of the tank, you should've also moved those two crewmen to the hull. Also you can disable the turret by unticking the box in the turret menu.
