    In this tutorial, we'll explore the techniques behind creating captivating moody light in watercolor paintings. You'll learn how to use very light values with rough dry strokes to create the illusion of waves, giving your painting a dynamic and realistic feel. By incorporating darker waves, we'll highlight the interplay of light and shadow, adding depth and drama to the scene.
    To achieve a moody atmosphere, we'll use the same value color in the sky and maintain an overall consistent tone throughout the painting. This approach ensures that the light effect remains subtle yet powerful, enhancing the mood of your artwork.
    Join me in this step-by-step guide and transform your watercolor skills as we delve into the art of painting light and creating mood in your scenes. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, this tutorial will provide you with valuable insights and techniques to elevate your watercolor paintings.

    I’m always amazed with artists’ colour choices and mixes. I’d just straight up use blue for the sky and viridian for the sea. And that’s why my paintings look flat. But you’re using green for the sky and all sorts of wonderful colours and it all works! Can you go more into why you choose certain colours for certain things please? Thank you so much for a great question!
      The more you look at the nature the more you understand the colours.
      I give more importance to the value, rather than colour. If your value is right then regardless what colour you put in, it will
      Work out. Put it in this way, if the value of my sky and ocean were the same, it would have been failed.
      However, in this case, I had to keep in my mind that, I was about to paint light, so had to balance cool and warm side of the painting.
      You can paint your sky red, purple, yellow, depending on the mood and time of the day.
      I will put out some videos in future explaining this! Thank you so much! :)

    What brand rigger brush do you use? Thks

    • @tonaldrawing
      @tonaldrawing  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have some cheap rigger brushes as well as a good one. NEEF brush size 8 is the one I use. But honestly, rigger brush with natural hair doesnt do well with rough surface paper. Many times i have used round brush synthetic hair with a good tip for wires and virticals

      @tonaldrawing  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much! I have used quarter sheet paper, well it was customised a bit, but more or less like quarter sheet or bit more larger than that.
      It was Baohong brand, and 300 gsm.
      In US, i think it is 140lb paper.

      @@tonaldrawing thanks a lot! Sorry, last question, I’m a beginner…was the paper rough or fine?

    • @tonaldrawing
      @tonaldrawing  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use cold pressed and rough paper, both actually, unless I am doing an illustration work.
      Cold pressed and rough paper both good for impressionistic work, or painting like I do.
      If you want to paint very tightly or detailed work, then smooth or hot pressed paper would be best. Depending on what type of painting you would love to approach.
      I have an article written down here, you may find helpful.

      Dziękuję za docenienie. Nie mówię po polsku, ale spróbuję. Maluję na papierze z 100% bawełny, o chropowatej powierzchni. Marka, której użyłem, to „Baohong”. Ale można znaleźć marki Arches lub Saunders wszędzie.
