This was a highly requested topic so I did a 20 minute Merch by Amazon tutorial for beginners. Here I go over how I made $30,000 on Merch by Amazon! Oh my gosh, this is amazing! I've been looking for a way to get my art out there and make money, this is gonna be the perfect way! I have fortunately been given great opportunities to study Art and Design in school and college and now I have a way to sell it and it doesn't require me to buy frames, canvases or know how to use photoshop. It's a big deal coz I've been struggling for the past 4-5 years wondering how to move forward. I have Fibromyalgia, CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) and other things, so it's not easy for me to just simply apply for a job coz it often involves moving about and it hurts plus the fatigue doesn't help. This is perfect!

Shirt returns: always keep a reserve for when your shirt gets returned. The highest returns are from holiday/special event shirts. They will sell, but also the highest return.

KDP is all about keywords and an awesome book cover.. try for less competitive keyword and with midjourney your can try creating awesome covers

You can print and sell your designs elsewhere. You can apply online on uspto.gov to trademark but I haven’t done it before. When people refund Amazon handles it (and you wouldn’t receive those royalties)

Thanks for the great video! One question, you mentioned that it’s best to check patterns on USPTO. But what if I’m using non-US Amazon account (i.e. UK, Japan, etc)? Do I still have to check with USPTO or my country’s respected patent office?
You need to check the trademarks for the country you are selling in, not the country you originate in. So yes, check TESS USPTO when you are uploading to the US market.

Great Video. Very thorough. I appreciate that you walked us through the entire process. Question: I noticed that you have 583 designs published yet you are in tier 10,000. Were you able to skip some tiers? Did you skip from tier 500 to tier 10,000?
The tier levels go by the amount of shirts you’ve sold. So she’s tier 10,000 because she’s sold that many shirts
I think, once you sell 500 items it moves you up to tier 10,000. From there, if you sell over 10,000 then you move on up to the next level. So the tier number is actually your goal before you can move up to the next. I'm stuck at tier 100, myself (since I sold over 25 items from tier 25 and moved up). If I sell 60 something more shirts then I move up to tier 500. I hope that helps.

I was starting to register a seller account (based in Australia) and these questions really confused me: "Do you have Universal Product Codes (UPCs) for all your products?" and "Do you own government-registered trademark for the branded products you want to sell on Amazon?". I was going to try open source symbols on t-shirts so not sure where to go from here (eg a spiral ). Does anyone have any advice on these questions? Thanks xx

Seller account is different - I believe you are talking about Amazon FBA? FBA does require UPC codes but Merch doesn’t

I'd be curious if your design was rejected. You made a common mistake on your title that is against terms of service. How long has it been since you've worked on merch by amazon? Not hating, I watched the whole thing and liked it but you gave bad advice there. Sorry to point this out, new people need to know
It wasn't! It's still up. I'll add a note that the word "Gifts" isn't allowed in a pinned comment - sorry about that and thanks for pointing it out. I've been on since 2017 or so as you can see from the stats, but I haven't truly worked on Merch by Amazon in a while as I've been focused on other things. But it is cool that it still cash flows

The key to making big money on Merch by Amazon in 2021? Start in 2017.
You can say that about anything! Don't let that belief system restrict you from taking action. I still made $700 last month without touching it, and there are def people killin it on MBA who made this their fulltime gig - and have expanded to platforms like etsy, redbubble, teepublic, shopify etc
