This Magicshine is functionaly useless.. It states a 25 meter detection range.. so wait a minute, a car coming up fast behind you does not notice the light flashing until it is right up on top of you.. I will stick to my Garmin Varia with a 100 meters and rider notification.. More important for me to know theres someone behind me than to trust a driver notices me in the last few seconds... I am assuming this is a sponsored video ??

how is this a first the Varia has been doing this for years...and it DOES transmit to a headunit as well? Is this video a troll post? It's cheap but that's all that it has going for it...plus range is pretty bad

This light would make much more sense if it vibrated or just beeped when car is approaching. Seemee 200 costs less, gives excellent visibility in any mode and has far better battery life.

Is it though? Is it the world's first? Because I have one that I bought a few years ago....

This is the first hybrid radar I've seen (one that doesn't transmit radar information to your GPS like Garmin Varia and competitors). Most of the taillights on the market only have ambient light sensors or deceleration sensors and not an actual radar vehicle detection.

@@TheSweetCyclists Seems like not being able to transmit to a head unit is not much of a feature, but lack thereof.

@@TheSweetCyclists how does it doing less make it hybrid? Do you understand waht you are reviewing here or are you just giving this a good review cos youve been paid?

I honestly can't fathom out why this was even made?
The purpose of a radar is to alert the person using it, of cars creeping up behind. The lights flashing in a certain pattern is pointless, because the drivers in the cars don't know what it means. Using this would make me feel unsafe on a road, definitely not safer.
If I could present an award for the most useless piece of bike tech this decade, it would be to Magicshine, for this taillight.

I do see the point of this light. Not all have a higher bike computer that would allow required data transmission amd also the price tag is rather appealing compared to the Garmin Varia. sure the safety responsibility is still with the vehicle driver in your rear, which is not as good as making the cyclist aware of the vehicle.
Also, in the dark, I do see cars coming in due to their lights, radars is mostly for day time, right?
The concern with this light is the 25m detection range, it is too short for my liking.

Yes, you don't get GPS notifications but I think the mode switch does have some value to notify people behind you of your presence. At $54.99 the Seemee 100AD is only $5 more than the Seemee 200 so you aren't paying a big premium for the radar capability either and you have a nice bright multi-LED taillight.

    • @Mapantz1
      @Mapantz1 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

@@TheSweetCyclists But I can buy a taillight for less than half of that price and it'll do the same thing - it'll flash at cars behind. Turning it in to a flashing light by using radar is utterly stupid.
If you don't have a cycling computer, just use a regular taillight. It does exactly the same job- it notifies cars behind of your presence.
Magicshine are trying to reinvent the wheel, but not even putting any effort in to it. This device will go down as one of those pieces of bike tech that didn't catch on.

@@thomasschragen4446 the Varia doesnt need a headunit, can pair to a smart phone app which nearly every rider would have.

Should be the World's Last.. 25 meters makes it utterly useless when it would be needed the most. I am sure there is a market for it, just not sure how big of a market.

Looks like there are a lot of upset Garmin users here. No one’s saying your investment in Varia isn’t worth it. But not everyone can or wants to spend hundreds of dollars to detect cars coming from behind. Having a cheaper option, even with fewer features, is a good thing for everyone. It helps bring down the price of higher-end tech and speeds up its adoption.

Great response! I think the fact that there is a $50 taillight with radar detection is pretty impressive on it's own. It wasn't that long ago that Garmin had the bike radar market to themselves for $200+.

Great channel. Great content. Horrible practice of using "premieres in". Dislike now and forever.

I agree 100%. I mostly click because I want to watch. Then I realize it's the premiere. I usually don't go back to the video because the other channels I follow publish the video and have more entertaining content. Mostly at the end of the day, I prefer entertaining videos over informational ones.

Dude...seriously? Please tell us: In what way is this a first, or at least unique, apart from being so inferior to the already existing offerings that it indeed is kinda in a class of its own, in the worst possible way...? If you put so much effort in a video, why not do a video that isn't BS by design?

A piece of tech that removes features while calling itself an innovation.
I’ll stick with my Garmin varia. Thanks.
