    I just wanted to say thank you, because someone gave me this trimmer. I don't have a manual nor was I told anything about how to use it. Clean or store it. So I found your video to be very informative. Thanks also for the hint on cleaning and storing the line after each use. Thanks again and I hope you have a great day.

    Hi, Just bought this GH3000 today it replaced my GH1000 from 2005 that broke and I probably could have fix it. After 15 years I said I'm going with a new one that 1000 doesn't owe me anything. I gave the new one a try and the only thing I don't get is the line seems not to move .I read instructions and it says auto feed .Not sure how that works I went back and did some more with it and still the line stayed where it was when I took it out of the box .Which was and about 2 in away from the metal in the shroud .Any ideas or should I just keep using it short until it decides to self feed to a longer length. Thanks .... JC

    Hi, great video thank you. My trimmer just throws out all of the line immediately in a twisted knotted mess. I have it wound correctly and it is also sitting in the housing properly so I have o idea why it is doing this. I disabled the auto feed a couple of years ago and made it manual but the trimmer just throws the line out anyway...all of it. Do you have any suggestions as to why it is doing that? Thank you

    • @WorkMateGuy
      @WorkMateGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the spool is seated in the housing correctly it should snap into place and only have about 15 to 20 degrees of rotation on the shaft. If it spins freely it is not properly seated.

    Hi, for some reason, no matter what I do I can't get the AFS to work correctly or at all. I wound the spool carefully, I checked all parts. is there is special move or technique to get the AFS to work? the line just get shorter and shorter. I have to remove the cover and pull the line out manually.

    • @WorkMateGuy
      @WorkMateGuy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm... It could be the spool is not seated in the housing correctly. It should twist back and forth a few degrees. It can be tricky. Or... check my video on "How to Refill Black & Decker Line GH3000"

    Can I change the string to blade on this model? It have screws on both sides and I’m not sure if some of the ways I saw on other videos on how we can stick something in to this one hole and slowly remove the string holder can apply here.

    • @WorkMateGuy
      @WorkMateGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure that would be a good idea as the weight difference of a blade my overload the motor. Cheers!

    Hello, I have had my trimmer for a couple of years, but I can't figure out how to auto feed. Does the trimmer do it at will or does it have some sensor that it auto feeds? thank you

    • @WorkMateGuy
      @WorkMateGuy  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You have to ensure that the line is wound correctly on the spool. If so, then it should automatically feed. I have found that stopping and starting will help. Also, if the line is old or sits in heat too long then it can get crimped at the opening causing it to snag. I hope this helps.

    Do you find this product EATS string? I don;t get more than 15-20 minutes out of a spool. Very frustrating. I am looking for a blade conversion kit but cannot find one. If you know of one please post. thanks

    • @WorkMateGuy
      @WorkMateGuy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, the trimmer line that comes with this trimmer and the off the shelf replacements run out of line very quickly. I refill all of my spools with Oregon 21-380 Gatorline 1-Pound Coil of .080-Inch. Once a spool gets worn out I replace with some off the shelf and tolerate the quality of the line till I can refill. I too have looked for a hard blade replacement or DIY solution with no luck so far. The commercial and bladed trimmers are rather pricy for the typical home owner. I hope this helps. Cheers.

      Hey Doug - I have seen some DIY solutions on TH-cam. But, all of them look rather dicey and I suspect their weight would ware out the motor very rapidly. Cheers.

      @@WorkMateGuy I do the same thing! I always wind my own line on an empty spool. You're losing money if you buy a new spool every time. Actually, I have two spools and make sure I always have one that's full and ready to go. That way, when one runs out, I can swap it out for a full one instead of putting my trimming on hold while I take the time to wind a new one. Then, after I'm done trimming, I'll reload the empty so it's ready to go the next time it's needed.

    I was recently doing some yardwork with my GH 3000, and caught some string that had gotten into some tall weeds. Well, the string promptly and thoroughly wrapped around the drive shaft. I cannot find any instructions on how to remove the trimmer spool assembly to reveal the drive shaft. Any hints?

    how d you get the line to come out,do you have to tap it on the ground ?

    • @WorkMateGuy
      @WorkMateGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      The line will deploy automatically if you have applied it to the spool correctly. I have found that if it is not deploying I stop the motor, wait till the spindle stops rotating then start again. This typically gets the cord to deploy.

    I was using mine and the whole lower string assembly broke off and I've lost part of it. I found the string spool and cap, but can't find whatever the piece is that attached that to the bottom of the trimmer and am having a hard time finding that part online. It's not in my book. Any ideas as to what I need to order and can I fix it?

      Joan Schofield You might want to check out Ereplacementparts.com as they have really good diagrams and photos of parts. You should be able to find what you're looking for there. Good luck with your hunt.

    • @WorkMateGuy
      @WorkMateGuy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      ray decena As far as I know there is no fuse on this trimmer. Have you verified power coming out of the outlet that you are plugged into?

    • @jrice135
      @jrice135 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Page 12 of Instruction Manual (which you twice reminded us to read in the video) reads "Possible cause of unit not starting is blown circuit fuse." Of course, B&D does not do us the favor of providing fuse type. So much for Concientious Capitalism.

      shane spencer There are several possible causes for this problem. First, make sure the trimmer line is tightly wrapped around the spool. Second make the spool is seated correctly in the cast.
