@@e3ng682 True, although I always saw Tony Stark playing the same role that characters like Norman Osborn, Kingpin and Tombstone play in the spider man cartoons, as the rich guy whose actions end up ruining the life of this people and turning them into criminals, creating the connection with Peter through this contrast, since Peter also comes from a working class background (kind like the Vulture) and was screw up by people more popular than him, however was able to learn from his failures and rise above them becoming a better hero.
I loved that Norman wasn’t just an EVIL guy. He really was impressed by Peter. He would’ve absolutely given Peter a job at Oscorp once he was out of college.

I guess the experience must have been a humbling and sobering one for him, which is why the insecurity about having a very rich businessman coming to pick him up from a public school, where most students are from a typical working-class household (eg Pete or MJ).

I think it's sweet Harry didn't want to show off his wealth of his family and wanted to be drop off somewhere. Norman here absolutely proving he just is a loving father. Sweet scene.
I always admired the respect that norman had for peter..every scene (well, every scene before he found out that he is spiderman) , you could see a sense of pride in Normans eyes for peter..
I think they really wanted to differentiate him from his green goblin side and show who he was meant to be before the major events happened. Especially with how he acts in the mirror scene like a terrified boy it’s quite clear in my opinion that they’re two different personalities or at the very least the performance enhancers brought out the darkest depths of who Norman could be if he had no goodwill holding him back.

The fact that Peter wrote a research paper on Nanotechnology clearly shows how brilliant Peter is because a research paper has to be reviewed and approved by the committee. This is why Norman was so impressed by him. Norman said that Peter's parents would be proud of him. By this, Osborn also meant that he was not proud of Harry. Harry obviously looks annoyed in the back.
Yeah. The Spectacular Spider-Man show really nailed this as well. You are constantly seeing Norman Osborne dismissing Harry and praising Peter. Like he was really happy when Peter told him that he would be working for the Connors. Disappointed with Harry when he wasn't recommended for the job. In season 2 Norman helps Peter get his job back at the lab. Saying he always found Peter very impressive. Even giving Peter a brand new piece of prototype technology from Oscorp for free. That's not even out on the market yet. It would cost a fortune. This makes Harry very mopey. I don't blame Norman Osborne for favouring Peter. It wouldn't surprise me if both versions of Norman Osborne wanted their Peter Parker's to be the next CEO of their versions of Oscorp.
Harry is like Noah Kaiba and Peter is like Seto from YuGiOh. Gozaburo Kaiba understood that Seto knew the value of hard work and came from a poor background like Peter while his son was nothing but a spoiled brat despite willing to learn and be a good student unlike Harry.

The chemistry between Norman and Peter here is so subtle but also very obvious. You also notice the subtle but obvious look of envy on Harry's face, as he wanted his father's approval, but the look of approval he wants from his dad is going to his best friend instead. You can also tell from Peter's comment at the end that Harry must have told Peter that his relationship with his dad is not the best.
Its relatable to me tbh,my dad have a private driver and i always reject when my dad ordered the driver to drive me to school i often walked to school just wanna fit into the enviroment of the school..

I honestly really like the relationship between Peter and Norman in the film. They genuinely respected one another (even if it was at Harry’s expense) until each of their identities are exposed to the other and until the Goblin persona won out Norman was distraught about the idea of hurting Peter. It’s a tragic example of never meeting your “heroes” from Peter’s point of view and a testament to how far gone Norman is in his insanity and lust for power that he’s willingly to kill one of the few people he forged a genuine connection with. We can only hope Norman’s return in No Way Home can be this nuanced
I also like, at least to me, the relationship didn’t necessarily come off as Norman thinking of Peter more as a son than Harry but instead he viewed Peter as a kindred spirit/himself when he was starting out so he respects him and wishes the best for him which harry easily mistakes as showing more fatherly love
Peter wrote a research paper on Normon's nanotechnology. This really impressed Normon because as a scientist, you want others to follow your work. I also wrote a research paper in my college but that was obviously a dummy demo research paper. I know how tough it is to write a research paper.
The memes are great but they do a disservice to this scene, at this point Peter is just a nerdy kid while Osborn became a billionaire by virtue of being among the, if not the, best scientist in the world, he's being humble by saying "I'm something of a scientist myself" and putting Peter on the same level as himself, Peter surprises Osborn by not only revealing to know who he is but that he is an active follower of Osborn's research. This scene happens way before any of them get their powers so no spider or goblin influence anywhere, just Norman and Peter.
and then Peter here learns Harry is Spiderman and wants to be special like Harry (considering how he’s jus a ghost to MJ in the early Spideman 1 scenes) and becomes the Lizard (similar to Spider Gwen’s origins in Across the spider verse)
It's so crazy looking back at the first movie of Spider-Man & hearing Norman Osborn mention Nano-tech... I'm a casual fan of the marvel universe, so hearing about small things that correlate to the later movies is always fascinating.
This is actually what made me a massive MCU fan, how everything connects, how it makes you discuss theories with your friends for hours and all those Easter eggs etc. There's a YT channel called New Rockstars, check them out,makes you appreciate these movies so much more

Man, the acting and dialogue flow so casually and real. It’s sad to see how Norman actually cares about Harry and wants to know how he’s feeling. We can even see him still being concerned later on in the movie, hell, even to the end. Willem does a great job of being your worst enemy but still your best friends dad, and someone you look up to. At least, a little.

They were both brilliant and had big goals they just had different pursuits and it went wrong for both of them in different ways. It would be super cool if they banded together to create something insane but it’s hard to say how good or evil Octavius will be in no way home.

I feel like the casting choice of James Franco and Willem Dafoe as Harry and Norman Osborn doesn’t get enough credit. Their chemistry was perfect and they even look like they could be related.

Most of the actors in this trilogy did such a wonderful job of portraying their characters that they just cannot be replaced. No Way Home shows that.
I honestly really like the relationship between Peter and Norman in the film. They genuinely respected one another (even if it was at Harry’s expense) until each of their identities are exposed to the other and until the Goblin persona won out Norman was distraught about the idea of hurting Peter. It’s a tragic example of never meeting your “heroes” from Peter’s point of view and a testament to how far gone Norman is in his insanity and lust for power that he’s willingly to kill one of the few people he forged a genuine connection with. We can only hope Norman’s return in No Way Home can be this nuanced

I also like, at least to me, the relationship didn’t necessarily come off as Norman thinking of Peter more as a son than Harry but instead he viewed Peter as a kindred spirit/himself when he was starting out so he respects him and wishes the best for him which harry easily mistakes as showing more fatherly love
Peter wrote a research paper on Normon's nanotechnology.
This really impressed Normon because as a scientist, you want others to follow your work.
I also wrote a research paper in my college but that was obviously a dummy demo research paper. I know how tough it is to write a research paper.
The memes are great but they do a disservice to this scene, at this point Peter is just a nerdy kid while Osborn became a billionaire by virtue of being among the, if not the, best scientist in the world, he's being humble by saying "I'm something of a scientist myself" and putting Peter on the same level as himself, Peter surprises Osborn by not only revealing to know who he is but that he is an active follower of Osborn's research. This scene happens way before any of them get their powers so no spider or goblin influence anywhere, just Norman and Peter.

How could we have known that these two would be reunited after 19 years?
Notice how almost all of Spiderman villains respect Peter Parker intellect and vise versa.

It's so crazy looking back at the first movie of Spider-Man & hearing Norman Osborn mention Nano-tech...
I'm a casual fan of the marvel universe, so hearing about small things that correlate to the later movies is always fascinating.
This is actually what made me a massive MCU fan, how everything connects, how it makes you discuss theories with your friends for hours and all those Easter eggs etc. There's a YT channel called New Rockstars, check them out,makes you appreciate these movies so much more

Man, the acting and dialogue flow so casually and real. It’s sad to see how Norman actually cares about Harry and wants to know how he’s feeling. We can even see him still being concerned later on in the movie, hell, even to the end. Willem does a great job of being your worst enemy but still your best friends dad, and someone you look up to. At least, a little.
