hey Lisa thanks for the v10 review you are one of the best reviewers keep up the good work. ps I use to own a g3 and instead of getting the g4 I got the v10 was a very good move. And your video helped me 😃
Actually traded my Note 5 for the V10. Such a unique and useful design. Fantastic camera, really durable feel and appreciate the removable battery and expandable storage. Too many similar devices out these days and this stands out.
I'm contemplating of doing the same, some people are complaining of poor 4k content viewing and somewhat poor performance compared to something like the note 5, how's yours so far?
I'm contemplating of doing the same, some people are complaining of poor 4k content viewing and somewhat poor performance compared to something like the note 5, how's yours so far?
+VonTokkerthsHD "poor performance"?! don't believe that, I've had this phone since it first came out and have not had even a single moment of lag. the phone is FAST. There are also other vids on TH-cam that show it has the fastest fingerprint scanner too.
+VonTokkerthsHD If your still thinking about getting the V10 just do it I left Samsung and not looking back. You over pay for these phones as it is. And Samsung is becoming more like Apple pay more less features. No IR blaster, micro sd card and removable battery. These are reasons why you by android phones.
I really don't understand all of the "meh" reviews for this phone. Is the Samsung mafia on the heels of reviewers? :) As someone who's owned pretty much exclusively Samsungs for the past 3 or 4 years (and changes phones every 6 mos or so), buying this phone was simply my rebellion to Samsung's new Apple-arrogant sales model. As a bonus it happens to be a pretty great phone. The only thing I miss is AMOLED, but not enough to give Samsung my continued business. The fact that the V10 is $100 less than the cheapest Note 5 on T-Mobile, has had 2 promos to essentially bring the price down even further, and has more storage even without a Micro SD installed than the base Note 5...really makes the "meh" reviews all the more mystifying.
+kgbeezr75 Right? People have not been outright calling it their fav phone of the year, (2015), but every time I see group reviews, they always end up lauding they liek this or that of the V10, but in the end pick up the shiny looking phone (re: galaxy s6 (edge), iPhone) Lol :)
Totally agree. Used to love Samsung. But now they are to much like Apple. They are so confident with their fan base they don't try anymore with hardware and features. LG at least tries to bring something new to the table every year. Can't wait to see the next V11 or 20 or whatever. This year they seem to be going with the top chipset. If only they had Amoled displays there would be no comparison by any phone hardware wise.
I had the v10 back in 2016 and I loved it. Now in 2024 I have the last in the v series, the V60. I will miss the LG phones when I can't use this v60 anymore.
+Fresh2DEEath Deestar love this camera , speakers are good and if you have headphones even better , fingerprint scanner is excellent if you don't use phone cover ( reason : there's no ground between metal edge of the phone and any plastic cover ) , no wireless charging but that's coming soon , battery life is ok but you get one more on promotion , no buffering ( got to love that ) , screen is excellent coz I'm used to it ( personal preference ) , I had G 2, 3 and 4 , but I must admit this is the best one. 👍
+MobileTechReview Hey Lisa, I've been very good this year, if you happen to talk to Santa, put in a good word for me, and let him know that I would really, really, like to have this phone .... LOL ... Just having a little fun with ya' Lisa :-) Great review Lisa. Have a great evening! :-)
+Jaakko Nyman My LG Volt 2 (AKA LG G4Compact internationally) 5 inch seems so small now but perfect size. I remember when I thought the Droid Incredible at 3.7" was huge. haha.
I've looking forward to this phone v Nexus P(6). Main issue I have with V10 is bloatware. Main reason I use Action 3 Pro launch on my Note 4. Z5 has better finger print scanner /location and is dust /water resistant. Thoughts?
The removable back and SD card slot is why I'm choosing the V10 over the Note 5! Coming over from a Moto G and my SD card is very important. I need to be able to put it in my next phone so LG gets my money this time. I also appreciate the ability to take my battery out because the reason my Moto G died was because of the infamous defective battery not turning on after dying. It was a widespread problem in Motorola's 1st gen Moto G's and since they removed the ability to take the battery out I was SOL. I think it's time to become a loyal LG customer as long as they keep being different.
Lisa, Great review! If I can recommend that you should be using weight in g, measurements in mm, battery in Ah (vice mAh). That's the pro way to do it!
Hey there, I did a little research before buying this phone. I found a lot of forum threads with people saying the display gets a "burn in" effect after a couple of months (for example, if you text a lot, the keyboard will be on the display for a couple minutes after you exit the app) Is this a problem with all LG devices?
My friend just bought this phone as an upgrade last week!! Ironicly, I finally get LG's G Stylio this week, too. Too bad MetroPCS don't carry the V10, but I got the next best thing so I'm happy. (Well, except when my friend shows off his V10...)
saini22505 I've wanted the Stylio for months for reasons such as the stylis, the bigger screen, and the price of the phone. MetroPCS doesn't carry the G4. They only have a very small selection of LG phones.
The pone is heavy because of the 16L stainless steel side rails which protect the screen in case of impact from vibration shatter. I find the rear placement of the fingerprint scanner to be the best as you can unlock the phone as soon as you pick it up and like with Nexus phones this fingerprint placement does not take up any screen real estate in front. Home buttons on-screen really seem antiquated to me, no need to increase the footprint with big chin bezels. The only downside to the fingerprint scanner is that it does not work well with the first batch of phone covers out now. Your hand has to come in to direct contact with the stainless steel side rails for the fingerprint scanner to work. I remove my Ringke clear plastic flexible rubber phone case when I'm not on the go to reduce the weight in hand. When the cover is on I simply use use a swipe pattern. Setting up the fingerprint scanner takes a good couple of minutes because you have to tap the phone a hundred times practically so that it can pick up every possible angle. The secondary screen is awesome. It can show message previews even on WhatsApp and you can set the icons to your five favorite apps as well as keeping track of the last five apps you opened, 10 apps in all. It's a great system to jump between apps without disturbing the main screen. Another great feature is the swiping across the bottom row of function icons, it reduces the screen size and justifies to one side for one handed use. A much better implementation than Apple's double click in my opinion. The 32 bit DAC audio is tremendous if you are a fan of high end headphones like the V-Moda XS, Beats Solo2, AKG, Audio Technica, etc.. I used to carry a FiiO headphone amp but no more with the V10, it's not substitute but the hassle of carrying the FiiO is not worth the extra depth. Some apps don't support the DAC but Google Play and Spotify are on board. I don't think you can get a better sounding phone to listen to music right now. The battery life is decent, it largely depends on how much screen brightness you like. If you keep it at 50% you'll get about 5 hours which is good enough for a phone that allows you to swap out the battery and I don't think you would be considering this phone if you weren't a battery swapper. Standby time in my experience is excellent. The display itself is very, very good. It's my first non-AMOLED screen and I really believe it's the best of both worlds, true color and very high brightness. In outdoor daylight on full 100% it looks like a page from a magazine, zero glare. As far as price, it is far and away the best deal out now because you're getting a ton of features for the same price of the measly 16GB's of storage on the flagship iPhone 6S at $650 but you get 64GBs with the V10, you also get the 4K video recorder with FULL manual controls (my music video producer friend who only use iPhone was extremely jealous for the first time), 32 bit DAC audio, the very useful second screen, a top drawer display, Qualcom 2.0 quick charging (0-100% in about one hour), you can add the wireless back cover or the wireless card for $12 on Amazon and have wireless Qi charging. LG are giving you 64GB Micro SD card for FREE on their website if you buy now, and the ability to swap out batteries which is a must have for many heavy users who dumped the Samsung Note series once the Note 5 went Apple and took away micro SD and removable battery. Honestly for $650 no other phone can pack in all this value unless you go with a One Plus or Oppo Find but those are only viable options if your network carrier will support them. This is hands down the best premium smartphone of 2015 for a heavy user. LG threw everything at their first V series phone.
Update: DO NOT use this phone without a cover. I dropped it face down onto a coffee table edge from no more than knee height and the screen cracked. The glass is NOT replaceable, you have to buy a whole new display which is EXPENSIVE. And use TWO layers of tempered glass screen protection. I'm using two layers of the Yootech glass screen protector from Amazon at $12 each. One layer only did not save my screen. To reduce weight I'm not using the back cover when I have it in the case. This also lets the glass sit lower for more edge protection. I'm using a Spigen rubber case but the Ghostek case with a clear back (will look cool without the phone'sback cover) and metal reinforcements on the front edges. The official bumper case is nice too and can be picked up for $30 but it does not protect the camera and the charging plug will not fit while the bumper is on, they made the hole too small. Spigen should make a clear camera protector piece to clip or stick on.
+Shrimp Poboy I always have insurance and I make sure to use it if anything isn't working as well as on day one. but for an accidental drop the deductible is $150 and it has to go through Asurion and not my carrier. but unlike the carrier who send only the phone, Asurion gives you a whole package, battery and extra charging cord delivered next day after signing the affidavit with a copy of your drivers license. so with the extra free battery from the promotion I now have 3 batteries and two charging cords with the 200 GB SD card from LG. plus Verizon discounted the phone $100 in December. I had to return the phone and buy it back a week later once it was December to get the LG and Verizon promotions. Either way if you drop the phone it's 50 50 that it Will land face down. So I encourage all to use two layers of tempered glass screen protection. the screen works fine with both layers.
Don't worry Lisa. A big nose is a sign of great virility. Someone should make a retro looking phone using the design of the old Chevy you showed as a reference.
i m very wondering about battery life i have note4 but i m thinking pass v10 but i m worried about battery life v10 can you information battery life how many hours in how many screen on time
Lisa, why did you not mention the manual controls when recording "video"? You showed them for use when taking photos, but not when recording video. This is one of the stand-out features of this phone when comparing it to the LG G4 or practically any other phone on the market today. I don't understand why you and so many of your colleagues focus on the second screen so much, and barely (or in this case not at all) even mention the manual video recording controls. This is a significantly more important feature than the second screen, yet it consistently fails to be highlighted.
+Kelly Evans It is because she does not like the phone really. I have been noticing lately that her videos are reviews are getting worse and worse sometimes she comes across as if she cannot be bothered. I also notice she is not likely to reply to your comment as she would not like it despite you being straight forward with your point. Just my take on things.
I have the V10 coming from having the G4 for 3 months (both on T-Mobile) and I actually find the battery life better on the V10. The G4 got me through a day and that would literally be it with somewhere around 3 hours SOT. Each day I've had the V10 I'm easily getting to the end of the day and probably 2 days light use.
I owned a Samsung Galaxy Note 5, and I decided to try the LG V10 and to be honest, I thought this was a nice phone but the Note 5 is the MUCH better phone!
+MobileTechReview lol every one is saying that the best place to put it is in the back and you just say that hahaha HATER that happen when amateurs do reviews...
The best place? According to who? Actually I think that front layout like in Iphone or Samsung is more practical. When you put phone on the desk which layout is better to unlock it ?
I've had every iteration of the Samsung Galaxy S series and loved them because they were very user friendly. But with the new S6 they've lost a customer and I think they'll lose a few more. This LG phone looks like an excellent replacement and means I get to keep my 129 GB extension memory card. And replace my battery myself if I need to. See ya later Samsung!
The volume wasn't that great she said yet before playing the video she just mentioned that the volume was only 2/3 of the way up. Of course it's not gonna be as loud as possible.
I loved this phone, felt great, looked great but after 3 weeks it started to get hot and would freeze up so it had to go, shame as I loved it

I allways head over to listen to you'r really good reviews. But i think it was sad like someone else stated below. That this did not mention the dac, for some sort of reason. Most people listen to music everyday. And this has some really high demand features on that front. Not so happy about this part missing out.
+André Fosstvedt It is a speaker review and mentioning of the specs... For people who knoe ESS know that that was not worthy of their name. And that was the disappointing part.
lg....thats why im still love my optimus g e975...mother of all g series....the only difference is the long screen on the v10...waiting for the v12....
If any 1 has any Problems with the LG V10, I really would like & Appreciate it if you d go into Detail about them !!?? Does it really have problems with Connecting to Wi Fi ??? Its a Solid phone Right ???
>Has note 5 > Gonna give note 5 to family member >Is searching for a phone with the same performance as the note 5 but doesn't want to keep buying samsung again and again Has to be on at&t. Any recommendations?
smh..over the pass week or so I've been watching so many different phone reviews because I'm trying to purchase a new phone in the next week or so.(I always do reviews on phones before I buy them). but anyway, these price tags on these phone out here are ridiculous!!! I think the most I ever paid for a phone was the galaxy 4 and that 400 plus dollars killed me.. but 7,8and damn near 900.00 for a phone is insane!!Don't get me wrong I love the newest phones with all the Bell's and what not's but I'll be damn if I pay rent/mortgage prices for a phone..
Hi, your reviews are awesome and very detailed. Thank you for that :) I'd like to know when is the LG V10 give away taking effect? I'm extremely interested in this phone. Please email me :) Thank you
hey Lisa thanks for the v10 review you are one of the best reviewers keep up the good work. ps I use to own a g3 and instead of getting the g4 I got the v10 was a very good move. And your video helped me 😃
I just love your reviews...your matter of fact manner...the comprehensiveness...brilliant! No. 1 tech reviewer on youtube...
Am I the only one that remembers the Galaxy Continuum from like 2011? It had the second screen at the bottom below the capacitive buttons.
Thanks Lisa! Waiting for this review. My next phone. Time to upgrade.
you will love it. I personally prefer the 2nd screen disabled for a significant improvement on battery life.

this is my favorite phone of the year!!! thanks for the detailed review!!!
mine too! Absolutely love it.

my thoughts exactly...however i have come across several reviewers who say its the best phone of 2015

Been waiting for this review
The promotion that ended on November 15 was for a 200gb microSD

+John B. ebay. i was iffy about it at first but it works and looks great
+andrew hanson Where did you find a qi charging leather back cover for the v 10 ?
Andrew Tewes I got it on ebay
Had G4 and now V10 I'm very happy 👍
+Davor Pustahija I just got mines today! Tell me more the best features, etc. Thanks in advance, buddy!
+Fresh2DEEath Deestar
love this camera , speakers are good and if you have headphones even better , fingerprint scanner is excellent if you don't use phone cover ( reason : there's no ground between metal edge of the phone and any plastic cover ) , no wireless charging but that's coming soon , battery life is ok but you get one more on promotion , no buffering ( got to love that ) , screen is excellent coz I'm used to it ( personal preference ) , I had G 2, 3 and 4 , but I must admit this is the best one. 👍
+Davor Pustahija nice!!! I love it,! I'm on it and I was gonna get galaxy edge but I was like v10 so sleek and Clean
Davor Pustahija I made right choice? I've had many iphone and yeah lucky g4 and m9 they told me have alot problems.
Davor Pustahija. how did you get rid of your G4
Did you just call 5,5 inch screen compact? Wow, we have come so far
+Jaakko Nyman So true.
+Jaakko Nyman
LG has very good screen-to-body ratios whereas others, ahem iPhone, are not so good.
I remember when I thought the Droid Incredible at 3.7" was huge. haha.
+Jaakko Nyman The G4 looks small compared to the V10 after all.
Lisa,
Have I missed it or You didn't mention the additional DAC/AMP and how good this phone is as a music player?
wow Lisa ma'am!! covered full points. nice review! thanks. hope LG covers all the cons points..want it to be the best... 😊
hi, Lisa. do you plan to review sony z5?
and looking forward for z5 vs s6 comparison.
I've looking forward to this phone v Nexus P(6). Main issue I have with V10 is bloatware. Main reason I use Action 3 Pro launch on my Note 4. Z5 has better finger print scanner /location and is dust /water resistant. Thoughts?

Can you review the lumia 950XL?
Thanks Lisa another really good review.
best phone reviewer on youtube in my opinion
Thanks LIsa. So G4 or V10?
Lisa I love your reviews and I know you do a lot for us already, but can you see if this phone can download and run the game Vain Glory. Please.
hi Lisa, what's your favourite phone that you've reviewed in recent times?
Hey Lisa, would love to see you do a comparison video between the V10 and the Nexus 6P!
Hi, what brand of lapel mic are you using on your LG V10 review.
I like the specs of the phone especially camera. It also has RGB sensor on it which you missed in the video.
Excellent review as always. Thanks :)

great review Lisa, thank you.
No Microsoft Lumia 950/XL review?
YES!! finally! Thanks Lisa
My friend just bought this phone as an upgrade last week!! Ironicly, I finally get LG's G Stylio this week, too. Too bad MetroPCS don't carry the V10, but I got the next best thing so I'm happy. (Well, except when my friend shows off his V10...)

I also notice she is not likely to reply to your comment as she would not like it despite you being straight forward with your point. Just my take on things.
out of curiosity what features does it have when recording video?
When are you going to review Lumia 950
***** hmmm LOL, that makes perfect sense mate XD #logicfail
You can get a scrollable app launcher thingie (on the bottom -> closer to your fingers) on any Android with Apex Launcher.
Great review Lisa
Why didn't you talk about the manual video mode?
did you talk about the manual video controls?
what about the bootloop? any issues?
Would you say the Lg G4's battery life is significantly better than the Lg V10?
I have the V10 coming from having the G4 for 3 months (both on T-Mobile) and I actually find the battery life better on the V10. The G4 got me through a day and that would literally be it with somewhere around 3 hours SOT. Each day I've had the V10 I'm easily getting to the end of the day and probably 2 days light use.
+Real DNA thank you!
Love your review's.........
@Lisa i think you should patent the phrase "We are gonna look at it now.." :)
Can you do a smackdown bet Z5 premium and V10?
Great review!
I wonder if she'll ever say "we're gonna look at it later" and then does her nod thing
How do I apply for the giveaway?
what's the wallpaper on the g4. looks like mario bros. post link please.
when are you going review the nexus 6p? thank you
I'm thinking of trading my Samsung Galaxy s6 edge plus for the V10. Doing it for the micro SD card and battery and I hear it's better for music
6:33 ?? why is the camera so shaky...
Good review tho.
how do you get a chance to win free v10?
just got a Nexus 6p but this looks cool
Nice vid Lisa.....
I owned a Samsung Galaxy Note 5, and I decided to try the LG V10 and to be honest, I thought this was a nice phone but the Note 5 is the MUCH better phone!
+jerry caughron The sealed case ruins it for me. Also the ram management issues closing apps.
Lisa you forgot the fingerprints scanner!!!
+coffeeblak86 Nope, I covered the fingerprint scanner and its inconvenient placement.
+MobileTechReview lol every one is saying that the best place to put it is in the back and you just say that hahaha HATER that happen when amateurs do reviews...
+daniel muvdi Right. Obviously if one disagrees with what the majority says, they are automatically known as amateurs.
The best place? According to who?
Actually I think that front layout like in Iphone or Samsung is more practical. When you put phone on the desk which layout is better to unlock it ?
very good test
I've had every iteration of the Samsung Galaxy S series and loved them because they were very user friendly. But with the new S6 they've lost a customer and I think they'll lose a few more. This LG phone looks like an excellent replacement and means I get to keep my 129 GB extension memory card. And replace my battery myself if I need to. See ya later Samsung!
Nexus 6p/ Project Fi review?
The volume wasn't that great she said yet before playing the video she just mentioned that the volume was only 2/3 of the way up. Of course it's not gonna be as loud as possible.
I like everything about it.
great review
I loved this phone, felt great, looked great but after 3 weeks it started to get hot and would freeze up so it had to go, shame as I loved it
I allways head over to listen to you'r really good reviews. But i think it was sad like someone else stated below. That this did not mention the dac, for some sort of reason. Most people listen to music everyday. And this has some really high demand features on that front. Not so happy about this part missing out.
10:20
did you not watch the review? she mentions it
+André Fosstvedt It is a speaker review and mentioning of the specs... For people who knoe ESS know that that was not worthy of their name. And that was the disappointing part.
this will be my next phone in case LG G5 won't have changeable battery.
yes I like the phone but had a viruses yes what shall I do I tried to chat for email never got to replace it
too bad it doesnt pack the front firing speakers
lg....thats why im still love my optimus g e975...mother of all g series....the only difference is the long screen on the v10...waiting for the v12....
torn b/w this and the note 5...finally got the note 5
If any 1 has any Problems with the LG V10, I really would like & Appreciate it if you d go into Detail about them !!?? Does it really have problems with Connecting to Wi Fi ??? Its a Solid phone Right ???
>Has note 5
> Gonna give note 5 to family member
>Is searching for a phone with the same performance as the note 5 but doesn't want to keep buying samsung again and again
Has to be on at&t. Any recommendations?
I hope to make a video for Samsung ativ book 9 pro & Spin
nice review
I want to see lumia 950XL
But I'm happy with my V10 gonna get a portable amp and a 128gb memory card
one thing to note that the lg V10 is $600 +tax one the t-mobile network
Now every grandma do review on TH-cam :'(
You misinformed on free microSD from 200GB to 64GB.
The 200gb was the first promo. The 2nd promo right now only offers the 64gb.
smh..over the pass week or so I've been watching so many different phone reviews because I'm trying to purchase a new phone in the next week or so.(I always do reviews on phones before I buy them). but anyway, these price tags on these phone out here are ridiculous!!!
3:25 Also "Modern Beige" .
Smackdown between LG V10 VS GALAXY NOTE 5
Lol "ahh these gimmicks" Lisa is so shady.
Hi, your reviews are awesome and very detailed. Thank you for that :)
I'd like to know when is the LG V10 give away taking effect? I'm extremely interested in this phone. Please email me :)
