just got a new proframe (NOT RS), and it came with the mips evolve core, which in my experience it doesn't creak :) but no fidlock :P (and they're not selling the old mips ones anymore too)
That is awesome! I only got to try the Evolve Core version in the store but it didn't make any noise when I ran around the store like a maniac. 🤣 Stoked it's working out for you. Thanks for the comment 👊
I thought it was supposed to sound like that. I've had mine for about 6 months and have gotten used to it. Also I rarely wear my helmet on uphills, only if I'm filming the uphill ride. Will definitely get the RS next time or pay attention to what noise a helmet makes. Thanks for the heads up. I always thought helmets were naturally noisy.
Ya, in Whistler there are very few mellow fire road climbs so the helmet needs to be on your head or in a pack. Try the RS before you order as it comes with the BOA system and it is presenting other issues, explained in an upcoming video. The new non boa version seems to be the one to try. lol
I think getting a real dh helmet is the best helmet option if you really want to protect your head/face. Yes they are a bit warmer but it’s worth it knowing how much more protective they are
I hear you, though there is not a chance I am pedalling all day in a full on DH helmet. DH helmets are usually quite a bit warmer, and usually quite a bit heavier than a "climbable" full face . If I am going to ride some slower jank that does not have me at super high bike park speeds and I can be in a FF helmet that breathes well while I climb and offers DH certified protection on the downs, plus is lighter and way cooler than a full on DH helmet, sign me up. For bike park speeds I think a full on DH helmet is warranted but for slower trail riding where you usually use a half shell why not have some extra protection thats airier and lighter if you can? Thanks for the comment.
@@RidingThruLife What I did was to have a half face helmet and a DH helmet. I have Leatt 1.0 DH, but it's hot for the ears. So I'm looking into other options. I have a Poc Tectal Mips, it's a half shell, so I put it on for the easy stuff, and for gnar and too techy stuff I use the full face. But would be nice to have one helmet I could wear longer. But the creaking would drive me nuts. After years of use the my Leatt helmet makes clack clack noise from the strap mount, it's looser now I guess. That bothers me already.
I can look at that, though there are only a couple anchor points so it seems like it is the whole system "rotating" as it's supposed to, and interacting with the helmet shell. It seems like it would take a lot of spray that you could then smell, sweat into your face and style your hair with.
@@RidingThruLife I cured this on my IXS Trigger FF with the same system Mips with some DOT grease (I checked the safety data sheet). Smeared it on the inside of the Mips pad and it seems to have cured it for now.
Ya, I have talked with quite a few people who have managed to get used to it. I just didn't even give it a chance, and to be honest, don't think we should have to get used to it. If it just did it on the downs when I do not hear it as much as I am focused on the terrain, I might have only been mildly annoyed but the ups were too much for me. I had to take the video down of what I did to make it not creak anymore due to potential liable issues but it is great now. lol Thanks for the comment.
That's awesome, because when it doesn't creak I love it!! Stoked you've got some silent ones. I wonder if it was a certain MIPS batch or something because with the comments on the 2 vids on this tiny channel, people who have reached out, and people I have talked to in person, it is def not just me being unlucky. Thanks for the heads up and comment 👊

@@mtbboy1993 I have a couple of Leatt DB4 DH helmets that I love. No MIPS. lol
tried spraying silicon on the mips parts?

@@coldwill4021 that's awesome. I am glad you found something to quiet it down!! Thanks for the heads up.
mine creaks too, got used to it but it annoys me sometimes

Had this helmet years and absolutely no noise looks like you just got unlucky. Mate has one two and his is fine too
