I would really like to see an in depth breakdown of Hwoarang's pressure strings, cause you use so many strings, some of which I don't even know, and my pressure feels so much less effective than what I know he's capable of.
Second that!
YES!
Hwo is one of the few characters who forces High string pressure because if you crouch you are in grave danger from his best launchers. So he is a Low mixup high pressure. If yk they gonna pick up on Low Mixup, then you get your Mid Launchers.
Good strings for pressure are
Df3,4
Rs f2, F4f- So you stay in flamingo and is repeatable
2, F4
Rs Df3- Homing mid with insane range and plus on block. Good for neutral. Jumps over lows as well.
Df4- homing mid
4,3 -Great Punish
- just some key moves.
Same I struggle with good pressure on hworang
That's what I'm saying bro don't help these mfs learn how to fight Hwoarang, shit I'm tryna learn how to play Hwoarang I wana be cheap to red ranks too 😂
The fact that people come to this guy specifically just to complain about hwoarang, a video game character, is craaaazyy...
For good (or bad) people are very passionate
Green ranks will be green ranks 🤷🏽♂️
@richiepoo Paid Frame data, release Leroy type of unbalanced characters are ok as well.
Lets you know how good of a character the homie is.
@richiepoo See the knowledge checks aren't too bad currently but when the roster starts growing, it's going to become a problem again I think
Hwoarang is what made me fall in love with tekken since T3.
Same, Hwoarang stil my fav
Same 🦶
Used main Feng, fell out of love with Tekken. I always wanted to play Hwo cause he was stylish but the stances seemed so hard. I finally gave it shot and it made me fall back in love with the game
@@TheDivoture nice! Hope it's treating you well with the gameplay
In terms of a hwo guide, I would love to see, how to get out of high pressure by the enemy. As a Hwo main, you are normally the one, who is putting pressure on the enemy, but sometimes its the other way around. And I have trouble getting out of „being pressured“ and getting back into the offensive. I normally go for different power crushes and a heat burst, but this becomes predictiable FAST. And on top of that: What is a good game starter to immediatley build up pressure? A fast 1133 does the trick sometimes, but it cant be all time. Other than that, the safe option would be evasion, but then again, it needs a good pressure starter. Besides the typical power crushes and df34 mixup.
Adding a +1 to this one. Victor, King (no grabs) and Kuma have been very difficult to deal with - i don't know what move i can use to punish them.
I dont even play tekken but Hwoarang is always super fun to watch for me. He is such a cool character
I downloaded your ghost today and it does a lot of the things you do, so for someone in the lower ranks like me, this is a GEM of a way to practice against high level Howarang gameplay.
It helps me understand the character a lot better.
Didn’t know I could do this. Thanks for the tip. Gonna get mopped by K-WISS tonight.
How to find his ghost
@@rhyanvalk7897 Go to "Online" and then "Leaderboards". You can then search for him using filters for Hwoarang in the Ranked Points or Ranked Wins. Shouldn't be too far from the top.
Then press A on his name, followed by Y when you're in his profile, to download his ghost.
Go back to the main menu and go to Offline mode to play Super Ghost Battle.
If you don't have a lot of downloaded ghosts, he should be amongst the crowd.
Yea how do you find his ghost?
@@Forged_1 found it but ghost kinda bad tbh just search for top ranked hwoarang players in replay in europe
I think the biggest issue people have with dealing with Hwoarang is that it's so hard to "generalize" counterplay against him. It feels like the only way to properly deal with him is labbing on a per-move basis, rather than the way most other characters can be dealt with (when character X uses stance Y, step right, or hold the mixup, or backdash etc.).
The information available on when and how to deal with Hwoarang seems to be very sparse or at least not easily accessible, so if you can get something like that out I think it will be a huge hit
Ngl. Ever since Speedkicks retired and I came across your content, you are the player I think about when I think Hwoarang
He doesn’t play games at all now?
Also watch basuka these 2 are nicest hwoarangs to watch. basuka probably most flashy
Speedkicks ran so kwiss could fly
Wait he retired fr? I looked up to him
Hwoarang raiding Jin's closet does have me asking if there's a certain thing you have to do for characters to wear another character's outfit and if it's only the other character's first default you can swap out. Just got the game yesterday, so I don't know.
I'm not even thinking about match-up knowledge right now, I'm just trying learn how to do anything Reina, while also wondering if I made an awful decision attempting to learn a Mishima when I can't do Mishima things to save my life.
Only certain characters can do it, typically the rivals. (Jin/Hwoarang, Lili/Asuka Etc.) it’s just considered another one of their full outfits but you have to unlock them through ghost battle. From what I remember I don’t think Reina gets anybody else’s costume but I could be wrong. As far as your choice of character, Reina is gonna be very difficult to master, but don’t let that dissuade you from playing her, if you like her, play her! You’ll be more likely to stick with the game by playing a character you genuinely think is cool or that you enjoy! Hope this helps :)
I picked Hwaorang a few months ago on T7. I'm definitely here to learn
I've been alright with fighting games, but tekken has always clicked with me. Especially Baek from T2, the Hwoarang after and hes been my main since T3. Just got 8 a few days ago and just cleared the green ranks. Guides and playthroughs like yours give me encouragement that I can keep getting better.
I’m a newer player that is maining hwaorang, I’ve found that I will almost always take the first set because I got really good at a couple of combos but as soon as someone figures me out It becomes a lot harder and I have to rely on punishes a lot more. I need to lab more.
Lol gotta respect the positivity you bring regardless of the unnecessary drama coming your way from just playing a character (which is crazy btw), much respect my man!
K-Wiss, I just want to thank you for the positivity. I'm horrible at the game, and very new (my last tekken was 3 when I was a kid, I guess it's the case for a lot of people), but I try my damnest to learn. And people like you, professionals who try to spread positivity and lift others up instead of bringing them down are one of the things that keep me encouraged and wanting to improve!
Man been watching your videos on hwoarang been playing him since tag up until now love what you doing with him 🔥🔥🔥
Bro thank you. When i match a hwoarang spamming its combo, i auto loss since i dont know the string, which led me to youtube for tips. Subbed and liked!
Ayyy that slowed down that Overkooled I see! Nice!
lol love the video, back in the t3 days I grinded the game and my cousins always choose Hwoarang cause they did tkd back then.
I love fighting Hwoarangs who are my level my best matchup cause of those days.
The thing about Hwoarangs heatsmash though is while being on the slower side (i17 i think) it gives a wallsplat when spaced correctly resulting in higher damage than the average mid HS
Loving your content!
Loved Hwaorang in T3 and TT1, kinda fell out of love with him until T8. The little things they added for overall movement made me feel for him like I did back when he was first introduced.
Shout out to Bloodtalon94 for being an outstanding Hwoarang player. Always pushing Hwoarang to the limit especially in Tekken Tag Tournament 2🎉
Thank you K-Wiss for being a passionate Hwo user
I know it might take a bit of work but something that might be helpful is a beginner gameplan for hwoarang that also teaches you tekken would be dope, cheers
is this air gear ost??? btw i picked up hwoarang in t7 and your videos helped me a lot, so i’m looking forward to your vids for hwoarang in t8!!
Hopefully you can make a guide on how to counter certain Hwo gimmicks! Other than that, keep up the work!
Can’t wait to get Tekken 8 and main him so fun to use.
Getting Hwoaranged is just a phase man. Truly.
First I got my share with Lars, Bob and Asuka back in TTT2, then was Zafina, Lilli, Nina, Anna Jack etc. I kid you not those characters I mention where an instant loss back in the day when faced online, people will online tactic you till dead UNLESS you spend the propper time learning how to deal with them. Now Hwoarang is a fun match for me. It's kinda weak once you get past the shenannigans tbh...its the next learning process plp have against snake edge, the one move you thought was super broken where you where a baby blue rank casual.
Oh and btw if you wanna know true desperation T6 Bob, TTT2 Cappos and T7 Xiaofreakingyu. Now THATS cheating.
love the air gear bg music. nobody seems to know about that anime lol
Tbh since my channel has got a lot more exposure recently so many people have picked up on it and it's really cool to see so many fans of the anime
Such a banger anime
When learning a new character what things do you put a priority on? (i.e. combos, neutral tools, pressure, setups)
I’ve been playing since tekken 5 but I’ve never really had the best neutral or pokes if some explanation for what moves to use for that or for set ups are in your guide that would be great
Can we get a kwiss combo video? The strings you do for hwoarang is crazy and I can't seem to replicate what you do. My combos arent as long and i have to rely on punish and whiffs to try the combo again 😢
K wiss my doonniee keep up the good work man
Yo kwiss. I recently started watching your content religiously. I come from 2D fighting games so Im kinda struggling with tekken. Could you possibly talk about movement more in a video?
Ironically I can backdash well but I cant forward dash or side step well. I see you dash blocking a lot in your videos and it looks lovely.
Also your content is the best I love watching you hwo!
Hey! new player here, I really love how the character plays but the two main things i currently strugle the most is using the sidesteps correctly ( most of the time i forget they exist or i use them wrong) and how to enable a string starting from low, because literally if someone just stands and blocks me, if i dont go for a throw idk what else to do, because yeah i can poke doing some lows, but idk if there is a low that can enable me for doing a longer string of hits
Grinded hours on end for Hwo in tekken 7, how much of his tech/setups transcends into tekken 8?
brand new to tekken and my biggest matchup struggle is Steve. I guess the underlying issue is that I don't know how to identify when it's my turn / how to punish.
A lot of that can be solved by going to the replays and having the frame data on
Would really love some insight into how you think about launchers. Cant get jfsr in match and back 3 feels like a pretty trash option (may just be a skill issue) compared to some of the other stuff in the game. Also a basic flamingo / stance guide would be great too. Most combo vids don’t break it down enough.
WHAT IS THE BEST LOW RISK AND HIGH RISK ATTACK FOR WHEN YOU KNOW THE OPPONENT WILL NOT BLOCK LOW?
The thing I find incredibly frustrating about the Hwoarang matchup is that it's so incredibly hard to predict in lower ranks (yellow in my case). I fought your ghost multiple times and squeeked out a few wins, but in ranked I get fucking destroyed because I just don't know what the opponent is gonna do. It feels super cheap, and between Hwo and King (and their prevalence in the current state of the game), it makes actually getting better really frustrating. More so than it should be. Aight that's my complaints, thanks for the great content Wiss.
Hwo can be punished so much. If you struggle against him learn a few things or simply pick out the moves you have trouble with.
Any character can be tough to deal with when you are clueless. Even if you dont know hwo. Learn the basics frames and you find ways to punish. Also heat lets you change Momentum. There is also power crushes. And if he uses many lows use low crushing moves like hopkicks.
Im a beginner myself but there are tools to deal with many things. Find them with your charakter.
As a somewhat new tekken player I can say any character that has random lows in neutral and constant pressure on block will be super annoying. I get it’s partially a “skill issue” but knowing how to use counter play against 32 characters neutral game plans is a time and investment issue. Beating Howarange and many other characters is just not intuitive. It’s so hard to figure out when it’s your turn or when to block low… and don’t even get me started on sidestepping. This game and every other fighting game REQUIRE hitting training mode to figure this stuff out and that’s just not for a lot of people. So they get on and loose to “cheap” stuff and complain because they don’t know how to deal with GIMMICKS
This is my main. Simple way to name his play style is pressure. If they’re complaining about a Hwo constantly pressing the fight, they have no idea how strong of a defensive/counter set he has. Armored attacks, and range. I can close distance, apply pressure at a distance, but you’ll have the hardest time closing distance. Victor C. Is pure fun though.
I’m trying to figure out what to do after:
JFSR, backlash, left plasma kick,
I’ve seen you uf3+4 for wall carry but I can’t seem to do it more than once
You were an inspiration for me about a year and a half ago when I first picked up T7 and I picked up Hwo. He’s still my main in T8 for now.
You can do F4, 3~4, b3. As for the uf3+4 just hold foward so that he stays in flamingo so that you can keep the carry going. If he goes back to standing in LFF (regular stance) it won’t carry
After uf3+4 keep holding f to stay in stance and repeat.
If somebody beats you with hwoarang just because they playing aggressive and mashing the fault is also yours, you need to react and interrupt him, punish correctly, respect the frames plus/minus, I know it might be hard sometimes/most of the times, but it depends on you as well so it is what it is(and yeah I hate hwoarang but never hated the player if someone's better then me I try my best to improve that's it)
Take care of the strike with dat Lili sound in the end 😂😂
I been rocking with Hwoarang since Tekken 3..
He’s Not That Hard To Learn If He’s Been Your Fav Character Since T3. But The Tips Were Helpful !
Say what you want, but one of the more entartaining characters to watch in action is Hwoarang. Whenever I see someone playing with him, I have to tune in for at least a little bit.
K can you talk about how wildly different the characters are and how different their gameplans are based on the tools they offer? Currently having a hard time finding a pocket character, and I feel like its because I only play Lee at a decent level -(Red Rank)
In ur guide plz make a beginners section. Key moves and flowcharts to think abt to get ur offense off. Rlly tryna decide between lee n hwao and both seem hard
My friend play him against me and I legit yell at him "Let me breathe bro!" 😭
as a hwoarang main im so using this to be a pain in the ass
I haven’t played tekken since tekken tag on PS2 , I’ve been playing Hworang and I completed all the combo challenges and they’ve given me a few online wins , but I’ve seen combos on this channel and others that I just can’t wrap my head around , and that’s MY skill issue
But do I need to get an arcade style controller to perform these combos or is there a specific controller set up that anyone recommends ?
hey boss I think it'd be great if you could make a video explaining how to keep great pressure against opponents and what specific combos you could do that are effective for keeping continuous pressure
Wouldn’t that depend on your character?
@@Gestober380he obviously asks about hwo
i would love to know how good players break throws, like, i know sometimes you know what throw your opponent might want to do, and i know the arms are a tell, but the throws are like 12 frames, idk how to react to the arms in that time
I'd be interested in what are considered 'trap' moves to use, as in they might seem like solid options but really are best to not have in your gameplan
bro, what controller are you using?
I’m mainly just struggling with opening my opponent up. It seems I can’t ever get my launchers off.
Yo K-Wiss I was wondering what wall combos to do? Is there any particular strong one? I still do the Tekken 7 ones 😂
What's the best way to pressure and mix with hwoarang
Youre the best. Youre my Huarang Senpai
Please make a guide on perfect sky rocket, I can do electrics easily. But fail so hard with Hwoarang!
We need to learn all the combos
Hey who did the art in your youtube profile picture?
Is using heat mid combo for getting more combo damage worth it? except wall carry, i feel like combo with or without heat is barely noticable
Typically I only use it if I think I'm gonna kill and if not I pop the heat so I can continue strong pressure when they're waking up
So I’m new to wanting to progress in competitive I’ve been a high end player in none fighting games and want a crack at tekken I’m frankly trash in a real match up I’d love something up to do that covers everything I’d need to know especially how hwoa’s pov since he is who I’ve been drawn to most
What controller do you use and what are tips to use hworang
Please post video about hwoarang pressure mixup and how to punish with him, thanks
@17:01 Stylin' is Everything.
"the movement is so good" King: Laughs in giant swing >=).
Perfection 🔥🔥
can u explain how u doin the combo at 3:50
K-wiss, you are too nice my man. Anybody that comes to your chat complaining to you about Hwaorang needs to be told to kick rocks. Too many people feel entitled to win at a video game and will blame everyone and everything for what is essentially a skill issue. It’s wild to me. I commend you for handling it like a gentleman bc they don’t deserve it.
Everyone wants to complain about him as a character but actually learning him!!! Is helll
I always played with Hworang and Eddy Gordo, Hworang because i've trained Taekwon-do when i'm teenager and Eddy because is op and Brazilian haha
How do you deal with good spammers? as in people that are smart enough to just rely on 3 strong moves that are very hard to counter (exemple a lee only relying on CH B4, slide and d3) thanks
Go to replay mode or practice mode and see what moves work best to counter the spamming. (Example go to the lee player and set cpu to do the 3 strong moves and see what works for your character. Tekken 8 gives you a lot of tools to help you I hope this helps!
The issue is that compared to other characters, hwoarang needs more time to learn to play against than actually playing hwoarang, the strings that end in mid and high look the same and have 20 frame difference
there's no actual resources for any counters and there's no "do this when he does this" situations. when jin goes into zen after blocked string, you can use fast low to counter 99% of his moves
when hwoarang goes into stance after after blocked string, you need to watch out for safe mid armored heat engager, mid homing kick, vortex high strings which launch on counter hit and are near impossible to duck punish, with a variation with the SAFE ARMORED MID HEAT ENGAGER, low pokes and high jab that lets him loop the situation again.
what can you do against it ? nothing because anything you do, he has 2 or 3 things that counter it making this stance out of BLOCKED string a guaranteed 50/50 that loops on itself even on fucking block
1) Well every character in this game if harder to learn how to play against than to play, offence is the easy part in this game.
2) I know you’re exaggerating but I can’t off the top of my head think of any strings he has that mix up high and mid and look similar.
3) There isn’t a situation where Hwoarang can go into stance after a blocked string and then you have to worry about homing mids.
4) Hwoarang doesn’t have a safe armoured mid hear engager.
5) Low pokes and high jabs are defensively covered by the same option.
6) It’s a lot easier to be defeatist and say there’s nothing that can be done instead of learning what to do
k-wiss idk if you play jin but i could ecetric easy with him on t7 and t8 demo but now in the base game i either get a grab or regualr wgf
Hwoarang in my opinion is a little under powered, those combos are his strengths he doesn’t hit super hard compare one of his combos that actually takes skill to somebody like Paul or king that could damage half your health with no skill by hitting a button or two. Look at some of the other characters is there air juggling is ridiculous compared to Hworang. One lucky pop up from some characters can basically illuminate almost to your entire health with juggling.
I’m having a hard time figuring out his neutral this my first tekken game and the move list amount is crazy and I just end up throwing out unsafe launchers I need to understand what are some good buttons for his mix and neutral and a way to consistently get lethal sky rocket I keep getting the regular one
I play on dual sense too
What are your thoughts with Ghosts? And do you know how they work? I personally feel like they inconsistant, but it could be that i'm just very ignorant and unsure how Ghosts actually work. because at times i'd find myself easily winning battles and then next thing you know they put on a good fight and then they become easy again. Its very wierd to me. I tried also facing other top tekken players ghosts and they just stand doing nothing. Its really confusing for me.
Hwo is one of the best offensive fighters on this game. Since ttt2 he would get in your head like no other back in the day😂
Intermediate to advanced Tekken is finally realizing that you will always spend more time learning matchups and knowledge checks than anything else.
You should drop bnb combos for hwoarang
I wanna battle you so bad, i also play whoarang mostly. Since T3 tbh. And btw i want that orange jin outfit for myself too 😂
Fought Hwoarang like more than 7 times since launch and I lose every single one except for today. I won 2-1 twice (2 encounter) with Devil Jin, finally. What I at least notice is ducking against Hwoarang (and Victor) is kind of scary unless You can confirm or do the read really well and when they start to do the kicks string, try to find a timing where the kick pushes you further out of the kick's range then try to counter it with armored move just make sure he is not doing the low hit yet. Also just don't press randomly thinking using cheap move is gonna help You, 1 mistake and You are launched to the sky.
For now, I think Azucena and Reina is just even worse than Hwoarang on being newbie killer
How to do crouch cancel sky rocket,or crouch cancel electric with devil jin
I hate playing against Hwoarang and my buddy brand new to the game want to main him. I have been sending him resources to get better on the character knowing damn well I am going to hate fighting him. It's ok though because I'll learn the match up and my friend is going to learn how to fight King
As soon as i understand what is even happening in this game, I'm gonna revel in the hwo salt
Guess I'll need super plus frames.
I'd like to see a vid about Hwo's main changes from T7 to T8
The movement feels more
fluid and natural in this game. Tekken 7 was some real thumb work on the pad. I can probably win a world thumb wrestling championship
i have a Hwo problem myself ngl but at least im trying to find out how the deal with him
Pls I need a hworang pressure and mixup guide
Someone please help me, I struggle to dashblock into rff f3 now with hwoarang. This didn't use to be a thing in T7, not sure if its because of the rollback netcode but if you dash block into a move that has a forward input it turns into a ff move, in this case ff3.
I messed around with it and i think doing ff neutral b into f3 MIGHT be the right play, but I'm not sure if its cuz of the neutral of simply because I waited long enough. In a real match it needs to be faster as well.
Do any of yall have this issue and how do yall deal with it?
tap forward neutral and see if that fixes it.
PLEASE DO SLOW IT DOWN SIMPLE COMBOS. I’m a mortal kombat player and their tutorials are way easier to grasp. I want to continue playing this game but even the in game combo hints suck. Help us all out!
the amount of 2d players is actually crazy on the ladder rn
Being a Hwoarang player comes with a side order of unwarranted hate. This is just non negotiable
It’s very warranted. 😂
As a beginner he’s the only character that people really can’t deal with. King is a first hurdle but people get that very quick, Hwoarang just seems to never lose his turn, again as a beginner, when you can’t string together game ending combos he feels cheap. He’ll seemingly whiff and then it’s still his turn. As a beginner he doesn’t seem to have any weakness and it feels cheap.
The hate is warranted but it’s from beginners to mid tier players.
i complain and learn same time lmao its my special talent
I feel like I’m a strong hwo player can we match up so I can see?
I’m new to tekken and thought hwaorang looked really cool, so i’ll try picking him up. I haven’t been able to find a lot of guides for him in tekken 8 except for a short 8 minute one. I just wanted to know his best moves to be using and when to use them, also what kind of mix ups he has to pressure his opponent. Also is Tekken like other fighting games where you could be going for different things after knocking down your opponent? If so what options does hwaorang have after knocking someone down?
From what I know knockdown can be specific ie. Combo end, you can back 3 (plasma) for extra damage (oki setup) and I think down back 3 also does damage. If you're talking about bound/counter, Wiss is the best to learn from. Disclaimer, most of my tech comes from 7 rather than this game
