    I set my Ultimate up to run those 2.8s. Initially, I ran it in sand and dirt, but got real tired of the mess and the chore of keeping it clean and replacing bearings. So I bought 2.8s and the stiffest springs Traxxas offers for the shocks, front and rear. I removed the rear sway bar, it wasn't needed, but kept the front sway bar and adjusted it so that it was much stiffer to keep that front end from rolling so much. I also adjusted the front camber which really helps on the rig rolling over in turns.
    Now I "Hot Rod" this thing like crazy on asphalt and have very little problems with rolling it over! It power slides well and handles like a dream!
    Picked up the 2wd VXL and have been working with it as a street runner. I run both on 3s and heat is an issue! I just take a break and let em cool down, then run em some more! :)
    I should try a 2s battery and see what I think! I see lots of good reports about 2s in these.

      2.8s are fun it’s just hard to keep the motor cool especially on high hearings using lipos

    Pro line trenchers bro

    • @CustomFPV
      @CustomFPV  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've had many sets of trenchers, not bad tires. They almost have too much grip for my liking though. and the 2.8s can really make your motor hot. I just wanted some decent cheap tires and these were great!

    There is no list below. Can you edit the text and add what you used? Can those side nerf bars be used to hold the body on if Velcro is applied? Great video.

    So all the regular slash 4x4 parts fit on the ultimate chassis?? Simple swap?

    • @CustomFPV
      @CustomFPV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Im not sure of all the parts you will need, but I know at one point they sold it in a Kit. new chassis, skids, battery tie down, RX box, motor mount, gear cover, rear motor plate/bearing carrier, nerf bars, etc.

    I am buying a slash 4x4 vxl and was planning on using 3s but i have heard that it puts a lot of strain on the esc and motor and i dont know if i should get 2s or 3s

      I personally like 2s on the higher speed pinion for street driving. sweet spot.

    • @petersonfake4917
      @petersonfake4917 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CustomFPV hi , is it a good idea to use that pinion for bashing , off road general use or is better to leave it stock for 2s all purpose. I dont have to much experience with rc parts / mods. And my slash ultimate is on the way

    • @jerryglennie5375
      @jerryglennie5375 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@petersonfake4917 low speed on a 2S or 3S is pretty decent for bashing. If you wanted to change it up I'd recommend a 15T/16T spur for the motor side with a 54T on the clutch/Center differential. I can run both for my 4x4 VXL and my largest complaint so far is you NEED the HD driveshafts for 3S. They wear out so fast

  • @wilson1408

    unfortunately IMO grass/asphalt driving these wheel suck! i hear its better for track but idk what kind of track lol…. running on 3S and wheels always wanna spin. regardless still happy w the slash ultimate

    • @CustomFPV
      @CustomFPV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, there are better tires and if running exclusively on grass some 2.8s are probably better, but these aren't bad as far as traxxas tires go and on the street they have just the right amount of grip for my driving, just me though. Cheap too.

    You're a young guy and young guys like pristine things.
    Don't throw out your old scratched up parts cause you might regret getting rid of them.
    You might soon want a well used looking version to go with your pristine version.
    Plan what you're doing and where your collection is going to go in the future.
    Upgrades are actually modifications.
    You can't upgrade a professionally designed car from the professionals.
    The car is famous to them not you or I.
    You can replace worn-out parts. They're not Upgrades.

    • @CustomFPV
      @CustomFPV  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      certainly. I kept the parts as spares. definitely a few upgrades from RPM on this one, but yes there were just straight replacements too. highly recommend the fast eddy bearings.

  • @jeffbryner5355
    @jeffbryner5355 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The words bullet proof and Traxxas do not go together lol. I have many Traxxas vehicles and they are all far from bullet proof even with rpm lol. Rpm doesn't break they just warp and become deformed

    • @CustomFPV
      @CustomFPV  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I guess it all depends on how you drive it. if you beat the crap out of your cars then nothing will be “bulletproof” but if you drive responsibly then it will be a lot more durable.

    • @jeffbryner5355
      @jeffbryner5355 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CustomFPV well if I drive it responsibly then everything is bullet proof even Walmarts new brite lol. Bullet proof means it can take all the abuse and not break lol.
